    welcome

This second BTI choirfest celebrates the BTI Mission Statement affirmed in 2012. It is held in the World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIFHW), a week fostered by the United Nations to remind us of

the importance of building interfaith community.

The theme of the WIFHW is recognition of the pioneering work of The Common Word Initiative. This initiative, which started in 2007, called for Muslim and Christian leaders to engage in a dialogue based on two fundamental religious commandments, love of God and love of neighbor, without nevertheless compromising any of their own religious

    tenets.

These two commandments are at the heart of the three monotheistic religions, and many others as well. They provide the most solid

    theological ground possible.

    the power of musicd

As George Enescu once wrote, the sacred mission of music is to extinguish hatred, hinder obsessions, and join hearts into a warm brotherhood, just as

Antiquity understood it when it created the Myth of Orpheus.

Such a message could not be more proper today!

For us, music is also a theology, a theology of sound. It is a distinctive way of acknowledging the greatness of the human being, as well as the greatness of God. Beyond the theology of intelligible words, there is also a sonic theology, a theology where God reveals himself through unspeakable words ( ),

going deep into the mystical silence.

It is perhaps this theology of sound that brings us together tonight. Whether Christian, or Jewish, or Muslim, or of any other creed, we all bear Gods

imprint, as we are made in his image (btselem).

As a prevailing expression of worship, music teaches us how to reintegrate the alienated back into the kin. It gives us all the opportunity to once again

look at each other with trust, as we are all children of the Creator.

Therefore, lets seek the strength of our vocation, as inspired by the music of this Second BTI Choirfest!

The rd Psalm (dedicated to my mother) by Bob McFerrin

The LoRD is my Shepherd, I have all I need; She makes me lie down in green meadows. Beside the still waters she will lead. She restores my soul, She rights my wrongs. She leads me in a path of good things, and fills my heart with songs.

Evening Programeven though I walk through a dark and dreary land,There is nothing that can shake me; She has said she wont forsake me, Im in her hand. She sets a table for me in the presence of my foes; She anoints my head with oil, and my cup overflows.Surely goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life;and I will live in her house forever and ever.glory be to our Mother, and Daughter, and to the holy of holies,as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, amen.

The Lord Is My Light By Frances allitsen

noah Van niel, Tenor & harry Lyn huff, Piano

The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom, then, shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. of whom then shall I be afraid? Though an host of foes were laid against me, yet shall not my heart be afraid; and though there rose up war against me, yet will I put my trust in god. For, in the time of trouble, god shall hide me in the tabernacle, yea, in the secret places of gods dwelling shall god hide me, and set me up upon a rock of stone. -----Psalm

{english text}Let heavens gate be opened today. For he Who is without beginning, the Word of the Father, taking a beginning in time, yet not abandoning his godhead, is being willingly brought into the temple of the law as a babe of forty days by a Virgin Mother, and the elder receives him in his arms. The servant cries to the Master, Release me, for my eyes have seen your salvation. o Lord, who came into the world to save the human race, glory to you.

Tshotsholoza is often referred as the unofficial anthem of South Africa. This song of freedom was sung by the ancient miners who toiled in the South african diamond and gold mines, and by those celebrating nelson Mandelas release from prison. In contemporary times it has become a song used to show support and solidarity for any type of struggle. go forward!
