Day 1Our America’s National Parks adventure begins this afternoon inbeautiful Rapid City, South Dakota known as the “Gateway to the BlackHills” and “City of Presidents. After check in at the Comfort Suites,we’ll have free time to relax and lunch on our own or take advantage ofthe hotel’s indoor pool, whirlpool or fitness center. That evening we’llexperience the flavor of Rapid City as we enjoy an included dinner atone of the local hot spots.

Day 2This action-packed day finds us contemplating the majestic and ruggednatural beauty of the region as well as the impressive manmade tributesto American and Native American heroes. Our excursion begins at thesprawling 244,000-acre Badlands National Park, home to strikinggeologic deposits containing one of the world’s richest fossil beds. Onour tour, we may encounter bison, bighorn sheep, prairie dogs andblack-footed ferrets grazing amongst the protected mixed-grass prairiewhere ancient mammals such as the rhino, horse, and saber-toothed catsonce roamed. We’ll continue on to the Crazy Horse Monumentdedicated to the Lakota leader who united with Chief Sitting Bull todefeat George Custer’s troops at the famous Battle of the Little BigHorn. When completed, this monument will stand at a remarkable 641-feet tall. We’ll soak in the magnificence of the world’s greatest mountaincarving with a stop at the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Five hundred feet atop the Black Hills sits this epic sculpture featuringthe 60-foot tall faces of four exalted presidents: George Washington,Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Devil’s Tower National Monument

cowboys and cowgirls are called to bring their hearty appetites to the tablefor a delightful Chuck Wagon Supper and Cowboy Music Show at FortHays, set amidst buildings from the Dances with Wolves movie set.

Day 3Day three of our American National Parks adventure finds us heading toWyoming and further exploration of the mysterious and majestic BlackHills. We’ll visit Devil's Tower National Monument and witness thisrocky sentinel rising above the surrounding grassland and Ponderosapine forests. Northern Plains tribes have worshipped near thisremarkable geologic formation for thousands of years. Fur trappers,explorers, and settlers alike were awed by the tower's majesty. In 1906,President Theodore Roosevelt established Devils Tower as our nation'sfirst national monument. Many have gazed at the Tower and wondered,"How did this amazing formation form?" Day three concludes with anincluded dinner at the hotel restaurant, Sugarland Mining Company,situated in the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains.

Day 4Today we journey to Yellowstone National Park where we’ll get theopportunity to overnight right inside the park! En route to Yellowstone,we’ll capture the breathtaking scenery along the way with severalpicture stops. We’ll also visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the Westwhich houses five different museums, including Buffalo Bill Museum,Natural History Museum, Western Art Museum, Plains Indian Museumand the Cody Firearms Museum. Tonight’s dinner will be served in therustic, main lodge dining room of the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotelwhere we’ll spend the night.

Day 5Today we embark upon a full day of sightseeing at YellowstoneNational Park, our nation’s oldest and most beloved national park. Alocal guide will board the bus and take us on the “Grand Loop Tour”which includes the must-sees such as Mammoth Terraces, NorrisGeyser Basin, Fountain Paint Pots and the famous geyser, Old Faithful.Our day ends in Jackson where we’ll travel via a horse-drawn, coveredwagon through the picturesque Cache Creek Canyon and dine in anoutdoor terrace with spectacular views of the Teton Mountains. Afterdinner we’ll experience some good "ole-fashioned" western fun with aWild West Show before retiring to our hotel situated in the heart ofGrand Teton National Park, our home for the next two nights.

Day 6This morning, a step-on guide boards our coach as we explore GrandTeton National Park. Nearly 310,000 acres, this imposing park includesthe major peaks of the 40-mile-long Teton Range as well as most of thenorthern sections of the valley known as Jackson Hole. Scenicsightseeing stops include Jenny Lake, Chapel of the Transfiguration,Moose Visitors Center and Museum, Snake River Overlook and OxbowBend. An optional trip will be available for those wishing to venture intodowntown Jackson Hole for shopping, sightseeing, etc. We’ll enjoy anincluded dinner at a popular local restaurant.

Day 7We travel to Salt Lake City, Utah today. Along the way, we’ll savor thebeautiful scenery and make two spectacular picture stops at Bear LakeScenic Overlook and Logan Canyon. Late afternoon, we’ll arrive inSalt Lake City where we spend the final two nights of the tour. Afterchecking in at the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel, we’ll enjoy an included dinnerat the Garden Restaurant, located on the 10th floor of the Joseph SmithMemorial Building. From this vantage point, we’ll enjoy stunningviews of Temple Square and downtown Salt Lake City.

Day 8A local step-on guide joins us today and shows us why SaltLake City is one of America’s most beautiful cities. Our citytour begins at the Salt Lake City Capitol where Georgianmarble murals in the rotunda tell the story of the settling ofthe Old West. From the front steps of the Capitol, we canview the magnificent Wasatch Mountains, Great Salt Lakeand Kennecott Copper Mine. We’ll tour Beehive House, thebeautifully restored house once belonging to MormanChurch founder Brigham Young, and drive past the elegantmansions on South Temple Street, including the Governor’sMansion, which is the largest governor’s residence in theUnited States. Many of these homes were built with wealthderived from the Park City mining boom of the late 1800’s.Tour also includes the University of Utah’s Rice-EcclesStadium, site of the opening & closing ceremonies for the2002 Winter Olympic Games, and much more! We’ll stop atTrolley Square, a unique shopping district occupyingtrolley barns that once housed electric trolley cars from the1800s. While here, you can enjoy lunch on your own andfree time for shopping in the many upscale shops andboutiques. An included dinner will be served in a uniquesetting. The Lion House, which gets its name from the lionperched over the front entrance, was constructed in 1855 asa supplementary residence for Brigham Young and his largefamily. The former residence is now a restaurant.
