About the Ferrari GTOUnveiled at the 1984 Geneva Motor Show, the GTO was intended to be Ferrari’s entry into theGroup B class of rally racing. Equipped with a potent 2.8 liter twin-turbo DOHC V8 engine mountedlongitudinally, the GTO offered spectacular performance that was more than matched by its boldbody styling. Due to the cancellation of Group B after the 1986 season, the GTO never had achance to show its racing ability, but the lucky few who managed to purchase one of the 272homologated street cars produced were able to experience the thrill of driving this beautifulsuper car.

About the He162 SalamanderWhile the Heinkel company pioneered jet technology with its successful test flight on August 8th,1938, it lost out to the Messerschmitt Me262 which became the first operational jet fighter. Asecond chance came in September 1944 when the Luftwaffe requested proposals for a single-engine jet fighter that was simple to control and produce. Heinkel’s proposal was chosen becauseit promised a mass producible jet that could be flown by relatively inexperienced pilots. Rushedfrom proposal stage to finished prototype in 3 months, the He162 was first deployed to a basenear the Danish border, but with only 1 month left until the end of the war in Europe, it came toolate to demonstrate its combat potential.

After two private teams driving the Cayenne S entered and won theevent in 2006, Porsche took notice and offered a limited production version of their SUVspecifically for this rally. Many modifications, both internal and extermanl, were added to ensureexcellent off-road performance. Cayennes used for this rally featured both black and orangeand silver and orange race liveries.

In another cooperative project with Porsche, Tamiya has now developed an R/C model of thespecial 911 GT3 Cup VIP 2007. This new R/C kit features the latest “Enhanced” version ofTamiya’s widely popular TT-01 chassis, the TT-01 type E.
