Dear Parents and Community members,
Structure 2018
Mount Pleasant Primary School has recently
been experiencing a period of growth. To
this end, a new Kindergarten group will be
housed in Room 15 of the Junior block.
There will also be an extra year 1 or 1/2 split
in the Junior block. You may have no)ced
that yesterday modifica)ons to the exis)ng
fence around rooms 14, 15 and 16 were
taking place. This will serve the dual purpose
of extending the pre-primary playground and
providing an enclosed space for the new
kindergarten group. The kindergarten
students in room 15 will step directly into an
enclosed play area. In turn, this will mean
that the year 2 classrooms will be relocated
elsewhere. At this stage, rooms 5 and 9 have
been iden)fied for this purpose.
Use of School Grounds aer the Siren
While we encourage the general community
to use the school’s facili)es a3er hours, we
are increasingly having to deal with
an)-social or nega)ve behaviour. In some
instances, we are also having to deal with
vandalism. Please con)nue to use our
facili)es, but I strongly urge parents to
supervise their children while on the school
grounds.

Student Leadership at Mount Pleasant
Primary School
Leadership roles at Mount Pleasant Primary
School are becoming a hot topic for our Year
Five students as we are preparing students to
consider their contribu)ons to sound running
of our school throughout 2018. We constantly
review Leadership opportuni)es and offer
posi)ons that are purposeful to our students
and our school context. This term, there will
be opportuni)es for our Year Five students to
nominate to elect for Councillor Roles, i.e.
Head Boy and Head Girl, as well as Fac)on
Captain posi)ons. An applica)on is also
expected this term from Year Five students
who may like to be in the Sound Crew. Other
important leadership roles will be nominated
throughout 2018, these include: Sustainability
Leaders, Literature Leaders, STEM Leaders,
Values Leaders and Art Leaders. Each posi)on
has been a process of consulta)on between
Teachers and Administra)on, with regards to
establishing a shared and purposeful student
leadership model. Detailed informa)on will
be going home with our Year Five students
this week.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC PROGRAM 2018 FOR POTENTIAL STUDENT CANDIDATES
In the near future, letters will be sent out to students who have reached the next selection stage to
participate in Instrumental Music classes in 2018. The letters at this stage will only be an Expression of Interest for your child to participate in the
program, not a formal offer, which will come later. There are many good candidates and few positions on offer. It is also a big commitment which must
be given serious consideration. There will be one week to respond with your expressions of interest.

TOLERANCE
Tolerance is accep)ng
things that you cant
change or things that
you wish were different.
Tolerance is prac)sed
when you accept things
about people that you
don't like. A friend may
have an annoying habit
that irritates you or a
family member may do
things that annoy you.
You tolerate these
things because you care
for those people.
