Whether you are a new customer or long term partner, thank you for taking the time to look through our catalogue and for considering a High Bluff Stock Farm bull as your next herd sire.

For the first time we will be hosting the bull sale at our new sale and calving facility in Inglis at the farm. Although the chapter of partnering with Rolling D Charolais, Donna’s parents, is officially coming to a close with moving the bull sale location, the lessons learned and passion for the cattle industry will never be forgotten and will be carried forward as the next generation joins us on the farm.

The demand for terminal cross cattle is on the rise across North America. We see this coming from the long term demand for Charolais and Simmental feeder cattle combined with the advancements the breeds have made to meet the specifications of commercial cattlemen and women.

To meet the variety of our growing customer needs we have on offer yearlings and two year olds, easy calvers and performance bulls in both the Charolais and Simmental breeds.

This last year we were humbled to welcome our oldest daughter Erin back to the farm full time and additionally we are ecstatic to be becoming grandparents with both Haylan and Del, and Autumn and Remiel expecting bundles of joy this year. Four of our girls and their partners live near the farm. The contribution of all of our girls and their partners to the farm is fundamental to making our operation run successfully and smoothly.

Although the sale facility is new, the tradition of pre-sale hospitality and offering high quality Charolais and Simmental bulls continues. Please stop by the farm any time prior to the sale as well as be sure to join us for our pre-sale meal.

People who knew Elaine Digby knew her as a kind, generous, and hard working farmer. Elaine had a love of farming, plants, running equipment, and caring for the cattle and horses at Rolling D Charolais.

She was a role model to her children and grandchildren, teaching them that caring for family, the land, and animals were the most important things in life. Elaine’s house was always full during sale time – full of batches of cookies, crock pots of chili, and lots of family members who came to help. Elaine’s favourite part of the Family Tradition Bull Sale was seeing friends in the Charolais community, and having her family close, working together.

On November 4, 2017, Elaine Digby passed away after her battle with cancer.

As a family, we attribute our love of the farming culture and our established family traditions to our mother and grand-mother, Elaine.

Animal HealthHigh Bluff Stock Farm maintains a total herd health program. All the bulls have been vaccinated with the Pfizer Gold Program. This includes Bovishield Gold 5, One Shot and Ultrabac 7/Somubac. The bulls have been treated twice with Ivermectin. All bulls will be examined, scrotal measured, semen tested and palpated by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale.

The High Bluff Charolais and Simmental programs have become very well respected nationally and across this continent. They have had several suc-cesses in recent years at many high profile Western Canadian shows, but don’t confuse their mission with being hell bent to win banners! They use these events to promote their quality beef product and because of the natural muscle and very intentional soundness that the HBSF cattle have been bred for, for many years, they always seem to land in the competitive end of things! The sale ring tells the real story, and whether it is annually some of the breed’s most talked about and high selling bulls or a rare female that is consigned to a sale, the HBSF cattle always hold their own. There are many quality sire groups to choose from in both Charolais and Simmental.

Triumph 50B (aka “Cook”) follows in his sire’s footsteps and maybe surpasses him. The “Cook” sons are physically impressive and when you consider the calving ease with the naturally explosive growth curve in such a well muscled product, he is a real anomaly. This is a very consistent sire group that need to be seriously considered. One of the HBSF display team members this fall/winter was a “Cook” son. “Cook’s” sire “Triumph 2135” will have sons to flank his grandsons. Great bloodline here.

A top son of “Escobar” was also part of that same display team and he will be a sale feature. The “Escobars” were standouts at last year’s sale and the first daughters are calving this season and they have a wonderful udder structure and all signs so far suggest they will be fantastic cows.

The 2015 high selling HBSF bull was “Casanova”. He also had a son in their impressive display team. “Casanova” himself was highly decorated and, in my opinion, was as “good as it gets” in every way from a big rib cage, muscling, sound and a fantastic hair coat. He has produced an excellent set of sons in his first calf crop on offer here.

The Montana import, “Symbol”, is a true performance bull. You will appreciate the big tops and hips on these brothers. The very popular heifer calf in the past show string was a “Symbol” daughter. “Symbol” offers as a bonus, an outcross pedigree.

It’s always good to see sons of the great “HD”. His sons have topped this sale before and are true beef cattle!!! This is a very proven pedigree and will enhance your payweight.

The two year bull offering is as good as ever and a big reason for that are the “Stout” sons. And that is exactly what they are - STOUT!

There will also be some excellent Simmental bulls in the two year old group this year. The yearling Simmentals, in Black and Red, will once again be sons of “Grand Fortune” and “66Z”. These bulls can walk! Tour the HBSF replacement heifer pen and the Simmi heifers are as strong as any in the pack! “Nitro” has added to the overall quality of the Simmental section with several good sons on offer.

Check out this herd sire candidate! Excalibur was part of our show string at Ag-Ex, Agribition and Ag-Days, where he continually drew people to the stall with his herd bull presence, masculinity, and muscle. To top it off he has a great temperament. Excalibur was Reserve Champion Junior Bull at Agribition and was crowned Wheat Prince in the Charolais jackpot show in Brandon. His dam, HD 96A, has been set-ting quite the track record of consistency and quality. Her last year’s bull was one of our high sellers and was Junior Champion bull at Ag-Ex. She is a powerful cow with a nice udder.

We really don’t think you can go wrong with a SCX Triumph 50B bull. They are sure to be an asset to any program. I’m not sure we have ever had such a large, consistent sire group. Evander is a younger calf that weaned in at a similar weight to his older pen mates. His dam is a good looking HD 2nd calf calver and a daughter of Stone Angel 128W, 1E’s mom.

It’s no surprise that this genetic combination produced a good looking bull! 18W is a deep bodied, hard working HBSF Hank cow from C2 with a good udder. Her HD daughter, 96A, is one of our favourite and most consistent cows, the mother of Excalibur 69E. You have to appreciate the width, muscle shape and balance to this bull. Expect consistency in the calves out of these genetics.

You really have to admire this Casanova son for his deep quarter, wide top line and good hair coat. He has always had a bit of extra performance and growth, making him a standout in the pen. His dam is a really good looking Original cow from the Stone Angel cow family, with a nice udder who is a consistent producer on our farm. She raised one of our favourite Escobar sons last year, and a great looking Geddes daughter the year before. It won’t be a surprise that he was born unassisted. Expect a shorter gestation period from 1E’s calves, as both Casanova and 128W have shorter gestations.

a big wide top line that carries right down the quarter, a sound structure, is easy keeping, and has a good disposition. He passes these traits onto his progeny. Triumph is homozygous polled, and calves extremely well; to date all of the Triumph calves on our farm have been born unassisted. We were disappointed runner-up bidders when trying to buy Escobar as our walking herd bull, but were successful in buying the Manitoba semen rights on him. He has bred true to his pedigree with lots of depth and softness of body. Escobar is the sire of cattle that exhibit great hair coats, have big tops, and are very sound in their structural make-up. The first calf Escobar heifers have beautiful tidy udders and nice teat size.

HD was a true herd bull with lots of body mass; what a Charolais bull should look like. His sons have extra performance and testicle size, good hair coats, strong feet and legs and his daughters have great udders. HD offers so much to the industry in terms of producing soft sided, soggy and loose hided, sound structured offspring with more bone. Magnum is a bull we picked out from DuBruycker’s 400+ bull sale. We selected him out of a sire group that was a group of extremely consistent, strong topped, long bodied bulls that all had a good disposition in the pens. This is a total outcross pedigree. Magnum is a good footed, deep-bodied herdsire. We have more Magnum calves for the bull sale next year, which we are already excited about!
