Honorees

As instruments for change, the Massachusetts State Council Knights of Columbus continue their mission in expressing love and compassion by reaching out to the needy and helping to improve lives.

The Knights of Columbus were founded in 1882 by the venerable Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut to create a parish-based mutual support society for Catholic families. Today, Knights of Columbus worldwide membership totals 1.8 million throughout the United States. Included in this population is the Massachusetts State Council with its 37,000 members.

The Knights of Columbus have evolved into a fraternal organization providing support for Catholics in their efforts to educate children, care for the sick, identify those who are undergoing hardships, and in offering spiritual support during times of life’s pains and tragedies.

Embodying Bethany’s mission and guided by their principles of Charity, Unity, Brotherly Love, Patriotism and support of priests and religious, the Massachusetts State Council Knights of Columbus truly exemplify the criteria for Bethany’s 2017 “Making a Difference” Award. We hope you can join us in paying tribute to this extraordinary organization.
