Since then, Professional Driver has become firmly established as the voice of the Private Hire and Chauffeuring industry, a sector that had until then been overlooked by the motoring and fleet media.

Our targeted editorial mix offers market-specific news, features, operator profiles, road tests and business advice stories. The magazine is a business-to-business title, but presented in a more consumer-oriented format than most automotive B2B titles.

We carry an extensive news section every month, all of it specifically generated for our readership. This incisive news is largely exclusive to Professional

Driver and is generally not available elsewhere, other than our magazine and our website, which is used to keep rolling stories going and keep a flow of stories in between our monthly publishing slots.

Professional Driver Editor Mark Bursa was voted Business Writer of the Year

in the 2013 Guild of Motoring Writers’ Awards on the strength of Professional Driver’s editorial content.

Professional Driver circulates to all major UK fleet operators of private hire and chauffeur vehicles, as well as to smaller operators. The readership includes extremely large fleets such as Addison Lee, as well as several hundred UK operators with in excess of 50 cars.

Due to the nature of the business, all fleets concentrate on larger vehicles with at least four doors. Many operators run mixed fleets including luxury and executive models as well as regular volume-brand saloons, MPVs and SUVs.

Professional Driver is the only magazine dedicated to the private hire, taxi and executive chauffeuring sector. Published 12 times a year, our mix of news, features, reader profiles road tests and business advice makes Professional Driver an essential read for anybody in this sector – from one-man operators to large private hire and chauffeur fleets.

CirculationProfessional Driver currently circulates to just over 11,000 people per month and averages readership figures of 35,000 per monthly edition. Readers include large fleet directors and owner-driver operators, from the chauffeur, private hire and taxi and sectors. Our controlled circulation readership means only named individuals within companies can receive copies of the magazine. This gives us access to detailed data about our readers and their job functions, ensuring a highly relevant, targeted circulation for advertisers.

Introduction...

Professional Driver Reader Profile

Professional Driver is a controlled-circulation, business-to-business magazine with a monthly frequency (12 issues in 2014) and a circulation of 11,000. The publication was launched May 2009, and was bought by

its management team in January 2010.

Professional Driver recognises the Private Hire and Chauffeuring industry as a specific business sector within the UK fleet industry. The sector accounts for significant sales of large cars, with a rich mix of up-market saloons, luxury SUVs and MPVs.

The companies operating in the sector are highly professional, and have a need for information, news, features and advice designed to help them operate both profitably and professionally.

There is very little overlap with general fleet titles, as the needs of our readers are different. Rather than simply providing transport for company workers, cars are the central element of the business for Professional Driver’s readers. Their cars are their main workplace and sole source of revenue.

“We carry an extensive news section every

month, all of it specifically generated for our

readership. This incisive news is largely exclusive

to Professional Driver and is generally not available elsewhere,

other than our magazine and our website”

Professional Driver is also available free of charge to chauffeurs, private hire and taxi drivers using Terminal 3 of London’s Heathrow Airport. Copies of the magazine are available from Tristar Worldwide’s customer services desk in Terminal 3’s arrivals area.

The additional distribution gives us a much wider readership with employee drivers and selfemployed chauffeurs, putting the magazine in front of more than 1,000 extra readers a month.

Digital editionProfessional Driver also has a strong online following with 8,000 readers of our digital edition each month. Subscribers receive an email containing a link to their personal edition and a brief overview of what is included in each monthly edition as well as any other news/stories occurring within the industry that may be relevant to our readership profile.

The Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards was launched in 2009. It is the most thorough reader-judged car awards programme in the automotive industry. There are seven categories and an overall winner. Each year we organize a judging event at Sandown Park race course in Surrey,

where 40-50 vehicles are supplied for judging in six categories. In 2015 around 100 judges participated, including more than 30 heads of leading companies in our industry. Cars are tested on the road and on site, with thorough judging criteria aimed at assessing their worth for our readers’ purposes.

The results are presented at our QSi Awards dinner in November.

Promote your business with a 4-page Cover Wrap. Your promotion wraps around the outside of our standard issue; effectively givng you a front cover, inside front, inside back and outside back cover all in one! This is a fantastic way for your promotion to be truly unmissable to the Professional Driver readership.

Stand out from the crowd with a Belly Band and double-page centre spread advertisement. The band wraps around the front and back covers and effectively bookmarks your

centre-spread advertisement. When the reader picks up the magazie for the first time, the band will ensure that your advertisement is the first inner content they will see.

Our Quality, Service and Innovation (QSI) reader awards were launched in 2013. This initiative recognises the best companies and drivers in the private hire and chauffeur sector.

There are 11 categories, and Gold, Silver and Bronze awards are presented in each one.Entries were of an extremely high standard, and around 300 people attend an annual black tie dinner, held at the Effingham Park Hotel near Gatwick Airport in November. The QSI Awards and the Car of the Year Awards are presented at the event.

The ProDriver 100 is the definitive league table of the UK’s private hire and taxi industry. The ProDriver 100 ranks the leading UK companies in order of fleet size. It is a unique piece of major research and is presented as a supplement within Professional Driver.Britain’s 100 largest private hire and taxi fleets operate nearly 40,000 vehicles – more than 15% of the

estimated 260,000 vehicles operated for hire and reward in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
