Archdeaconry of France Prayer Diary December 2015 – February 2016 December From Bishop David Once again violence and terrorism have struck France and the world is in shock. The numbers of dead and injured in the attacks across Paris must make this one of the deadliest of such crimes. We will be praying for the people of Paris at this time of national mourning, distress and fear. We pray for all who have died that our Loving God will welcome them into his arms. We pray that God will comfort all who grieve, as well as the injured and the fearful. And we pray that terrorism may be overcome and violent hearts turned to paths of peace. In the face of hatred we pray that we may show forth love, and in this time of despair we remember our calling to be lights in a darkened world. May the peace of the Lord be with you.     Prayer DiaryDecember 2015 – February 2016

    From Bishop David

    Once again violence and terrorism have struck France and the world is in shock. The numbers of dead and injured in the attacks across Paris must make this one of the deadliest of such crimes. We will be praying for the people of Paris at this time of national mourning, distress and fear. We pray for all who have died that our Loving God will welcome them into his arms. We pray that God will comfort all who grieve, as well as the injured and the fearful. And we pray that terrorism may be overcome and violent hearts turned to paths of peace. In the face of hatred we pray that we may show forth love, and in this time of despair we remember our calling to be lights in a darkened world.

    Friday 18th: We go carol-singing round the Irish pubs (there are four of them in central Cannes!), handing out invitations to our Christmas services.

    Sunday 20th: Our main Christmas Carol service - we hope many will be invited, come and want to find out more...

    Thursday 24th, Christmas Eve: Children’s carols in the afternoon, midnight Communion

    Friday 25th, Christmas Day: Early Communion and then All-Age Communion.

    Pray for our Chaplain Alyson, for grace, energy and wisdom as she leads 'single-handed'. Also for the staff: part-time administrator Roberta Vellve, Parish Worker Carolyne Powell, and key volunteers including the Churchwardens Chris Igwe and Bunmy Rolland. Their workload is heavy, especially approaching Christmas.

  • Urgent need for locum-cover from late January until Easter. (The locum has had to stand down).

    Thank God for the life of the church which continues to be vibrant and for our recent teaching series inspired by Krish Kandiah's book Paradoxology. Many have found this very useful. Pray for our teaching programme in the new year, that the Holy Spirit will inspire choices; and pray for all preachers and service leaders in this time of semi-vacancy
