The general conditions of the sale of tickets are governedby the French law of the 18th of June 1966, its decrees ofapplication and by the European sea transport code1177/2010. Buying a ticket is equal to adhering to thepresent conditions of sale. The transport of freight isexcluded from these general conditions and is governed byother specific conditions. SAS COMPAGNIE MARITIMEANGLO NORMANDE trading as MANCHE ILES EXPRESS andnamed as such hereunder.1 – TIMETABLES AND ROUTESSailings are determined by MANCHE ILES EXPRESS andregistered in its reservation system. Scheduled departuretimes can be brought forward or delayed by the 15 minuteswithout prior notice to passengers. In the event of aconsiderable modification to the sailings, on the route or theport of call, MANCHE ILES EXPRESS undertakes to informpassengers as soon as it is aware of such changes. At thetime of making your reservation either directly at the counter,by telephone or online, you must provide MANCHE ILESEXPRESS with a valid contact telephone number so that youcan be contacted in case of any schedule changes.2 – BOARDINGPassengers must check-in for boarding a minimum of1 hour prior to departure. Any passenger, includingpassengers holding tickets, arriving to check-in less than30 minutes prior to departure, may be refused boarding andwill have no recourse against MANCHE ILES EXPRESS.Passengers who are refused boarding because of late arrivalfor check-in will remain liable for the cost of the fare. Eachpassenger must have a ticket before boarding. Ticket mustbe retained by the passenger for the duration of the crossingand for arrival & departure procedures. Seats are notallocated or numbered.3 – FORMALITIESMANCHE ILES EXPRESS cannot be held responsible in theevent of a passenger disregarding customs immigration andpolice formalities. The Channel Islands do not belong to theEuropean Union. Adults and children must possess a validpassport to enter France. Certain nationalities may alsorequire visas, please inquire at the relevant immigrationoffices in the Channel Islands or in France for up to date visarequirements. All embarking passengers and baggage areliable to be searched for security and safety reasons. Anyinflammable explosive or hazardous substance, firearms orother weapon of any kind must be declared at check-in.Passengers infringing these safety & security regulationswill be financially liable for any fines that may be due andwill not be liable to any ferry ticket refund. MANCHE ILESEXPRESS reserves the right to refuse boarding or landing ofany passenger who does not present the necessarydocuments for boarding or landing at the point of departureor arrival. MANCHE ILES EXPRESS reserves the right torefuse embarkation to any passenger considered unfit totravel. International security regulations oblige carriers toidentify all passengers and collect certain information frompassengers at the time or reservation. MANCHE ILESEXPRESS cannot carry any persons who refuse to providethis information. MANCHE ILES EXPRESS cannot be heldliable for the delays related to the accomplishment of theformalities. Travelling unaccompanied minors need toadhere to specific regulations. Please refer to section 11.4 – INSURANCEPassengers must ensure that they have adequate personalinsurance including delay and cancellation cover.5 – FARESMANCHE ILES EXPRESS reserves the right to modify thetariffs at any time according to fluctuation of exchange ratesor changes to the economic situation. MANCHE ILESEXPRESS reserves the right to levy surcharges (fuel,insurance or other). Harbour dues and taxes are included inthe ticket fare. Payment of tickets must be in the currencyof the country of the port where the ticket is purchased.Fares vary, according to availability at the time of booking,destinations & travel dates. For group bookings pleasecontact our port offices.

6 – MODIFICATION CHARGESAny changes to reservations must be made in writing. Allchanges made within 2 weeks of departure will incur amodification charge of £5 per passenger per leg, £10 perreturn leg. Additionally any difference between the originalfare and the cost of the sailing at the time of the change willapply. Tickets cannot be modified on the day of departure.Adding extra passengers to existing bookings does not incurmodification charges except for the cost of the extrapassenger fare/s.7 – RESERVATIONAll reservations are subject to availability. Reservations maybe made in person or by telephone, email or on-line and canonly be confirmed upon full payment of the total sum of theticket. Any reservation not fully paid by the date indicatedby our agencies, may be cancelled. Confirmation/Ticketswill only be issued upon full payment. MANCHE ILESEXPRESS accepts payment in cash, by cheque, card & byexchange vouchers from agencies and operators withwhom a prior agreement between these bodies andMANCHE ILES EXPRESS exists. Payment by credit cardsmay incur an extra charge. (Internet reservations areavailable on our website). Seats are not numbered orallocated.8 – CANCELLATION CHARGES15 days prior to departure or more: 25% of the tariff ; 3 to14 days prior to departure: 35% of the tariff ; 72 hours priorto departure: 50% of the tariff ; 48 hours prior to departure:100% of the tariff.9 – VALIDITY AND NON-TRANSFERABILITY OF THE TICKETSTickets are valid for the season of the current year and canbe modified. However, any modifications made will besubject to our modification charges and any difference infare being payable if the fare of the new sailing is higherthan the original. All modifications must be made before theend of the current year and after the 31st December of theyear of purchase, all tickets become void.All tickets are personal and are non-transferable. Anyreclamation for unused tickets or refunds must also be madeby the end of the current year. Gift vouchers are valid for oneyear from the date of purchase. Tickets issued “free ofcharge” are valid up until 31st December of the current year.10 – CANCELLATION OR DELAY OF A CROSSINGIf a scheduled crossing has been cancelled or delayed,MANCHE ILES EXPRESS accepts no responsibility for director indirect costs prejudice brought about by thesemodifications. Any modification or cancellation will benotified as quickly as possible. If you have not provided avalid contact telephone number, Manche Iles Express willnot be held responsible for any cost incurred through younot being notified of schedule changes. MANCHE ILESEXPRESS advises passengers unsure about their travelinsurance conditions to book their accommodation and anyextra services through an agency and/or favour flexible faresto non-changeable ones. MANCHES ILES EXPRESS will dotheir best to find an alternative solution within the bounds ofpossibility. This type of sub-situation will not lead to any rightto compensation, refund or indemnity. In the same way,MANCHE ILES EXPRESS cannot be liable for the non-coinciding of the departures and arrivals of the ships withany other means of transport.10.1: Ferry departure delay of more than 90 minutes:MANCHE ILES EXPRESS will offer a light snack and drinksprovided these are available.10.2: Ferry arrival delay of more than 60 minutes: MANCHEILES EXPRESS will compensate clients 25% on the amountpaid for the ferry leg.10.3: Outbound ferry departure cancellation: MANCHE ILESEXPRESS will endeavour to find alternative means oftransport on another MANCHE ILES EXPRESS vessel. If nosolution can be found or deemed satisfactory by the client,a full refund will be issued based on the return ticket farepurchased by the client.

No compensation of any kind can be claimed bypassengers (extra travel costs, accommodation etc)10.4: Inbound ferry return cancellation: MANCHE ILESEXPRESS will endeavour to find alternative means oftransport on another MANCHE ILES EXPRESS vessel. If nosolution can be found, MANCHE ILES EXPRESS willrepatriate clients on another available carrier. In the eventthat overnight accommodation is necessary, MANCHE ILESEXPRESS will compensate up to a maximum 80€ perperson per night up to a maximum of three nights. Transfersbetween the ferry terminal and your accommodation willalso be paid for by MANCHE ILES EXPRESS. You mustobtain & keep receipts of your expenses. These receiptsmust be provided to MANCHE ILES EXPRESS attached toyour compensation claim. Catering charges will not be paidfor.10.5: In case of weather cancellation, MANCHE ILESEXPRESS will propose a repatriation alternative which isnot negotiable. Should it be refused by the passenger,MANCHE ILES EXPRESS cannot be held responsible for anyextra cost incurred. Passengers cannot claim anymore thancompensations mentioned in sections 10.1 to 10.5 above.According to European Code 1177/2010, paragraphs 10.1& 10.2 are not applicable for delays/cancellations due toweather conditions putting sea travel at risk and to otherevents for which MANCHE ILES EXPRESS cannot be heldresponsible such as vessel re-routing, port congestion,industrial action or in any or all other cases of forcemajeure.11 – MINORS, EXPECTANT MOTHERS & EXTRAASSISTANCEPregnant mothers can make a sea voyage up to and notexceeding 28 weeks of their pregnancy, on the conditionthey present a valid medical certificate authorising them asfit to travel. Children under 16 years of age are consideredas minors. Children under 12 must be accompanied by anadult. Children aged from 12 to 15 years of age may travelunaccompanied on the condition that both parents and thelegal guardians complete a specific form stating the detailsof the person who will be entrusted to come and collect thechild and fill in an attestation (authorising minors to travelalone). These documents can be obtained from MANCHEILES EXPRESS. Moreover, non-accompanied minors mustproduce the documents mentioned above.

Passengers requiring extra assistance need to mention itat the time of booking and also at check-in. In some ports,steps may be steep and slippery.12 – LUGGAGE AND ANIMALSEach person is allowed a baggage allowance of 20 kilos.The company takes no responsibility for passenger’sluggage. Passengers must carry their own luggage on andoff the vessels. For security reasons each item of luggagemust be clearly marked with the owners name, addressand destination with MANCHE ILES EXPRESS specificluggage labels provided. MANCHE ILES EXPRESS cannotbe held liable for luggage which is unclaimed by the owneron arrival. MANCHE ILES EXPRESS will not be liable for anycost of repatriation of luggage. The owner of the luggagewill be liable for all such costs. The same conditions applyfor wheeled-on bicycles. A supplement of 15€ for luggage excess is applicable.Manche Iles reserves the right to refuse boarding ofunmarked luggage/bicycles.Any passenger who has dangerous or unauthorised objectsor goods which are not in accordance with regulations inhis/her luggage is liable for any damage which theseobjects might cause. Animals are not allowed on board withthe exception of registered guide dogs which must bedeclared at the time of reservation and on condition that alladministrative formalities for the carriage of such animalshave been completed in advance by the passenger.13 – LIABILITYMANCHE ILES EXPRESS’ liability can only be subject withinthe field of maritime transportation. Potential compensationis limited within these laws & regulations.14 – COMPLAINTS or CLAIMSAny complaint or claim to MANCHE ILES EXPRESS mustbe addressed by filling in the Company claim form within30 days following the delayed/cancelled sailing and sentby recorded delivery to: Compagnie Maritime AngloNormande, Manche Iles Express, Rue des Isles, 50400Granville, France. After these 30 days, claims will no longerbe taken into account. The claim form is available on ourwebsite or at the ferry ports Manche’s desks.Within 60 days after your claim and without a satisfactoryanswer from MANCHE ILES EXPRESS, the travelombudsman can be contacted on www.mtv.travel.
