Street and other murder cases-Supplement-01 Sir,
further to my 10 January correspondence I provide this supplement.I attend to the hardware warehouse and noticed a box containing 6 lock sets. The box was still15
sealed. I opened to box and took out the 6 sets in it and made pictures of the sets, as shown
below.
It showed that 4 of the sets were identical with 0406 number and 2 were with the 0405 number.
As such, it shows how anyone ordering 6 locks from the manufacturer or purchase a box of 6
locks could have 4 or more identical keyed locks.20

I mentioned this to my wife, and she explained that she had read a book (unknown if it was based
on facts or fiction) where a real estate agent having sold a property would retain a key from each
house sold, and use it later to gain unauthorised access/entry. One of his victims escaped, and it
was then found he had gained access to houses, and tortured and killed 15 people, who25 previously had purchased properties through his real estate agency. It is a known fact that real
estate agents ordinary keep a spare key of any house that is rented out. Also, I was given the
understanding by a person in the trade that when there are display homes in a street they all have
an identical front door lock, with the same keyed locks. As such, home invasion may not show
any “forced entry”, but nevertheless could be considered to be unauthorised when a key is used30
without the consent of the tenant/owner. Yet, I am not aware of any advertisement by the
Victorian Police to warn people to change their locks as soon as they move in for security
reasons. This, even so numerous crimes are committed by burglaries, etc.

While I use above examples of Lane other companies also appear to have likewise markings on
packages to select identical keyed locks. They therefore are not just “key alike” (referring to the
2 sets in the one package) but that in this case with 0406 there are 4 sets (total 8 locks) all having10
an identical keys lock barrel. And 0405 having a total 4 locks with identical keyed barrels. Those
locks ( pictured above) were not purchased by me, as obviously I wasn’t going to disclose the
key barrels details of my own house.
