The Vail International Dance Festival brings the world’s greatest dancers and choreographers to

the stages of the Vail Valley for a two-week celebration of dance. Under the leadership of

Artistic Director Damian Woetzel, the Festival has grown to be among the premiere cultural events in the nation, capturing the attention of national and international media including The New York

Times, Departures Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Vanity Fair to name a few.

The diverse programming is complemented by

community events, master classes and education outreach, engaging new audiences each summer.

2014 marks the Festival s 26th anniversary season.

By aligning with the VIDF, brands have the unique

VIDF VENUES

The Vail Valley Foundation owns and operates two free -standing performing arts complexes. The VIDF takes place primarily at the Ford Amphitheater while two performances occur at the Vilar Center. Both venues offer a full spectrum of marketing, media & hospitality opportunities along with fully functional concession stations.

Venues: Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, Vail The Ford Amphitheater in Vail is a spectacular outdoor venue that seats 1,260 guests in covered seating and an additional 1,500 on its expansive grassy hillside with a breathtaking view of the Rocky Mountains.

Vilar Performing Art Center, Beaver Creek: This intimate 530-seat venue in the heart of Beaver Creek offers its guest the ability to be up-close with some of the world’s greatest artists. Inspired by the Littman’s Kunstler Theater in Munich, the VPAC boasts unparalleled grandeur, breathtaking architectural design and state-of-the art lighting and acoustics. The VPAC is considered one of the premiere performing arts venues in the Rocky Mountains and is often referred to as a piece of Broadway in Beaver Creek.

• $3.3 million estimated revenue generated to the Town of Vail (An increase of $1.7 million from 2012). •Marketing & PR impressions totaled 75.5 million, which equates to $2 million in total media value. •Ticket sales in 2013 surpassed all previous records, resulting in an 14.5% increase over 2012 ticket sales. Dynamic pricing and revised seat zoning were partially credited, along with overall Festival reputation.

• VIDF experienced robust online and social presence through its Facebook fan page and @VailDance twitter handle. In 2013, the VIDF Facebook page saw an increase of 5,837 new likes (169% growth) and Twitter saw an increase of 452 followers (76% growth).

• Unprecedented editorial/PR coverage was seen in 2013, resulting in 53,398,894 impressions (118% growth) resulting in $795,000 in earned- media value.

VAIL INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL DAMIAN WOETZEL ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Damian Woetzel is former ballet star with New York City Ballet and has been the Artistic Director of the Vail International Dance Festival since 2007. Under Woetzel’s direction, the Festival has been widely acclaimed for its innovation and growth as a nationally- recognized summer showcase for dance at the highest level. In 2009, Woetzel was appointed to President Obama’s Committee on Arts and Humanities. He is an active producer of dance and music performances around the world and in 2009, directed the Gala Performance of the World Science Festival at Lincoln Center which featured Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma, Marin Alsop, Anna Deavere-Smith, Alan Alda and Glenn Close, among others. Woetzel also currently serves as the Founding Director of the Jerome Robbins New Essential Works Program and he founded the Studio 5 performance series at New York’s City Center. In 2011, Woetzel was named the Director of Arts Programs for the Aspen Institute. He holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

The Vail International Dance Festival hosts free community events throughout the Vail Valley to increase awareness of Festival events and generate interest of diverse groups of people. (Final Community Event Schedule TBA.)

2014 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

Argentinian

superstar Herman Cornejo will be the

featured Artist-in-Residence at the 2014 Festival. Cornejo is the Principal Dancer at American Ballet Theatre.

The renowned

Pennsylvania Ballet makes its Vail debut as the

Company-in-Residence and will perform at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater as well as the Vilar Performing Arts Center.

Audience favorite

Wendy Whelan will premiere her collection of ballets created and danced by four magnificent choreographers in

Wendy Whelan: Restless Creature.
