A Message from your President

This month, and next, I shall speak to you about the plans of our

incoming Governor. Our Governor-Elect, Dr. Celia Earle, has set her

goals for the 2015-2016 year. Among other things, she wishes to get

back to the basics of Kiwanis by living the six objects of Kiwanis.

These permanent objects are: (1) To give primacy to the human and

spiritual rather than to the material values of life; (2) To encourage the

daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships; (3) To

promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and

professional standards; (4) To develop, by precept and example, a more

intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship; (5) To provide,

through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships,

to render altruistic service, and to build better communities; and (6) To

cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and

high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness,

justice, patriotism, and goodwill. I invite each of you to think about

these objects and what they mean for us as individuals and as

Kiwanians. I hope all of you are having a great summer! …………..President Todd Brister

Do good, feel good………………

Find new ways to get to know

people in our community.

Connect with others—and get

involved in projects that change

lives. Kiwanis is all about

making friends—and making an

impact—in our local community

Results….. Why do we send delegates to conventions? Just last week at the

Kiwanis International Convention, 9 amendments were presented with the results

being that 6 were approved and 3 defeated. See the details at: www.kiwanis.org. The

one that will most affect all of us is that international dues will be going up by $10 per

year, beginning Oct. 1, 2015. If we are not represented we do not get to vote.

Kiwanis College

The first female to serve on the

Kiwanis International Board was

Lisa McCoy of the Kiwanis Club

of Jacksonville, Texas. She was

elected to the board at the 86th

Kiwanis International Convention

in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2001. Next

year, Sue Petrisin, from Michigan,

will be the first female president of

Kiwanis International.

What is Kiwanis………………?

So, you've come to the right place,

you’re in the right club, at the

right time. Don’t let the summer

pass without inviting someone to

join us. A great opportunity to

share the feeling as we celebrate

Independence Day this month.

Congratulations to amy pollick on her recent wedding

The Formula's recognition program honors people in four

categories. The first two are specific about when and how

individuals and clubs will be recognized.

1. The Gift of Kiwanis Award [For member-sponsors]:

On average, a Kiwanian gives 36 hours of service to the

community each year. Give the gift of service to

children by sponsoring a new member—and get

recognition for your effort.

2. Impact Circle [For clubs]: A thriving Kiwanis club is

a collaborative achievement. And stronger Kiwanis

clubs with an increased number of members can make a

bigger difference in their communities.

There’s no paperwork to fill out (except our monthly reports)

and I’m sure we will be seeing several of these accomplishments

in our club.
