TEAM UPDATES

TURF A lot has been happening with the TURF team over the last couple of months:

Justin and Tarryn have been continuing work on BHPBP Pyrenees with work on

RBIs for their pressure vessels and PSV, with the help from Jakarta office.

Tarryn has also worked on the pipelines RBI for Woodside, together with Mel

Dawson for all their assets on the North West Shelf. More importantly, Tarryn has just

watched Top Gun for the first time, well at least she watched half of the movie due to

some distraction….

Tarryn is definitely gaining a lot of experience of late. Tarryn followed Chris H

down to Collie to the Synergy Muja Power Plant to replace reference electrodes on one

of the water box condensers.

Adam M and Perrine spent a few weeks at Karratha Gas Plant during shut-

down, to tackle arising integrity issues. Yes, Perrine did a few weeks. Well done Romain,

for looking after the baby! Adam has indicated (and a photo as a proof) that the KGP shutdown will be a heavenly place for Justin due to the abundant supply of instant noo-

dles, so Justin is signing up for the next shutdown.

Resilient Adam will be back to continue his never ending work on reviewing KGP inspection reports on LNG trains. Apparently he nearly ran over Michael with his

bike at Hay Street on his way to work one morning. It is not known if there was some

foul language exchanged, but the fact that Adam is still with the group indicates that the

investigation has not reached a conclusion yet, as to whether or not Adam had a motive behind the

incident, that’s still up in the air!

Benny also spent a few weeks reviewing the inspection reports for Storage and Loading area.

Perrine, Kevin and Benny have just completed a vessel compliance project for KGP, aligning

inspection information from SAP, RBI, and inspection reports, to obtain last inspection date, inspection

interval, and next inspection date. There were nearly 4600

vessels that needed alignment!!

Romain is still busy working on integrity operat-

ing windows for Chevron.

Pardiss is still enjoying the work and life balance

between Kuantan and Kabil, supervising pipeline remedia-

tion work for Julimar.

Glenn is busy as usual performing his role at Woodside.

Goh had spent some time travelling between Brisbane and Kuala Lumpur, as well as trying

to find some business opportunities.

Michael has been busy with valve inspection for Gorgon Project.

Food Supply at the KGP

Selfies at the Muja Power Plant

SURF The Surf team have a relatively quiet update at the moment as several members of the team are either offshore at the moment or going offshore

soon:

Currently Skjalg and Delia are on offshore campaigns with Jock and Rob B soon to follow.

Melissa is still at Woodside working on her NWS RBI campaigns which has definitely picked up pace with all reports to be issued by

December.

Mohan is also at WEL at the moment working on his Subsea RBI campaigns and also providing support to Melissa to get her deliverables

out.

Anton is in the WEL office as too working on:

GWF-2 FEED phase - Readying linepipe pre-qual and tenders packages - 16" CRA linepipe (clad/lined/reel/s-lay options)

Persephone Execute phase - 12" CRA Clad Linepipe readiness for delivery

Attended APOGCE and presented SPE paper "Well Integrity - moving from firefighting to strategic

planning"

Rob K and Renee have gone AWOL, but I believe they must be very busy preparing for their upcom-ing nuptials

Please also join us in welcoming our newest recruit, Obi Gjerde!!! Obi also hails from Norway and is

currently working to implement the SEAR JIP which intends to create guidelines for design of subsea equipment used in Australian waters, reducing the frequent equipment failures currently experienced.

TEAM UPDATES….ctd

CORPORATE INITIATIVES

Wood Group Kenny for Telethon

The annual WGK quiz night was held at Subiaco

on Friday 17th October.

WGIM representation was scattered on a few tables with one WGIM strong table. In the name

of charity, staff took in some fuel of pizza and

beer and started guessing. It was awesome to

say that this year the WGIM table won!!!!!! We

didn't just win the main quiz but also the table

quizzes too which tested our knowledge of

capital cities and charities. It definitely was a

successful night for us as we took home bottles

of wine for the table quizzes and awesome $100

dinner vouchers each for the Terrace Hotel!

Tarryn Scott and Melissa Dawson represented WGIM in the WGK volunteers to work the telephone booths

at the Telethon call centre at the early hours on Sunday 25th October. The phone was ringing off the line as

generous WA residents called in to donate for the children and that too was a record!

Melissa Canicais also had the opportunity to present the WGK cheque live on Channel 7. Thanks to everyone

involved with the preparation of the Quiz and sacrificing their Sunday to man the telephone booths.

Richard Sharp who is overseeing the Pigging side of things

recently went on a nice site visit. The background to the photos - redesign of Gorgon and Jansz

ILI tools to accommodate Chevron Inlet tee changes (read

not meeting spec and creating sealing problems).....2 weeks of

trials in Germany (yes he did attend)....full scale 30"/34" loop

including tees, bends, reducer etc (photo sent)..launching trials

(the main photo)....

Right! Off to crawl back under his stone and hide!

A year ago Sandi Forest was assigned as a project

engineer to manage contractors from engineering de-

sign, documentation, procurement, logistics, site re-

quirements to installation and function tests on site.

Finally it all came together and the system is ready for

final dewatering of the pipelines!

Sandi took a recent trip to Barrow Island and can be seen with the Gorgon Project upstream pipelines final

dewatering/drying/packing spread at Barrow Island -

one of the largest pre-commissioning spread in the world with a size of football field.

The Gorgon Project

Our winning Table which consisted of WGK staffs Skjalg Erdal, Justin Kelly,

Alex Ham, Melissa Dawson and Kevin Lathbury (missing from photo)

Baby Season Gavin McLeod recently welcomed in a baby girl into this world

and would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and words

of encouragement (specifically related to sleep deprivation) .

Sarah & Evie are both doing well and thankfully having some longer

sleeps.

Congratulations as well to Adam Darwin on the arrival of his

son baby Titus. Baby and mom are doing well and Adam is unfor-tunately back at work!

Needless to say, these daddies will be looking a little worse for

wear in the following months but I am sure it is worth it.

Riddles and Jokes

Brain teasers 1. Brothers and Sisters I have none but this man’s father is my

father’s son. Who is the man?

2. A man was pushing his car along the road and when he

comes to a hotel he shouts “ I’m bankrupt!”. Why?

Last month’s answers:

1. 5832/17496

2. 11 cartons

The Victorian Times

ON THE GLOBAL FRONT

We’re fully ensconced in our new abode, BHP Billiton House (171 Collins St), and happily cohabi-

tating with WSPSN. Not only is the new building a refreshingly good change, we’re already seeing

the benefits of this is new found proximity to our WG cousins through improved relationships

(by osmosis), easier communications and incidental opportunities to bounce ideas and collaborate

generally.

Origin Energy’s Upstream NEXUS IC implementation is in full swing and we have a scary number of

work fronts active at the moment. The database has now been populated with asset data for the client’s three largest facilities – Otway and Bass Gas (both in Victoria) and Kupe (across the ditch in

NZ) – and work on the library items is well underway. Nik is on his way to becoming fully conver-

sant with the subtleties of NEXUS IC and, funnily enough, still has hair! One of the great challenges

with this project has been the somewhat torturous process of dealing with masses of data that often

have inconsistent form. So far, we’ve been quite successful in untangling it all, and then meaningfully translating the data into NEXUS IC. The

project team is a full east coast effort consisting of WGIM Melbourne (with a couple of very diligent ring-ins from the local “JPK” gang swelling

the ranks) and our northern brethren from the Brisbane office. Most of the heavy lifting is being performed in Melbourne with the Brisbane

guys, who are capably applying their APLNG experience, providing help with specialist areas and overall technical support.

On Nexus Energy’s Longtom5 gas development, we are continuing to provide ad hoc materials engineering support as they move through the

procurement phase. Installation is planned for early Q2 next year and our most recent work has centred about evaluating tenders for carbon

steel and CRA linepipe, flanges and fittings (we were involved with developing datasheets for these items several months ago).

Nik and Marcus (with Schree lending his welding expertise from London) also are working on a split TEE hot tapping project for one of Esso’s

Bass Strait platforms. The scope includes thermal modelling the in-service welding component and assisting the client with weld procedure qual-

ification.

The Brisbane Files The Brisbane office kicked-off a field-based project with Santos

GLNG in September. The current scope is expected to run for six

months, and involves two teams of two working back-to-back to

verify the P&IDs, asset hierarchies and tagging of legacy wellpads.

Embodying one of our core values – Innovation – we have worked

with Santos to develop a method for managing this verification

work using iPads and ‘smart’ software. The award of this work is

the result of the sustained efforts by Geoffrey Randall and his San-tos team to make the transition from operational readiness activi-

ties to operations support – demonstrating one of our core values:

Relationships. In addition, the team has already been recognised by

Santos for their commitment to safety – yet another core value!

The photos included show Timothy Lim and

Stephen Hogg on-site, verifying data using the iPads.” WGK Brisbane see a significant oppor-

tunity to provide site support to CSG clients as they move into the operational phase; contin-

ued success in this project is the first critical step

to achieving that” Earlier in the month of September, Don celebrat-

ed his 21st birthday, and in Brissie WGIM fashion,

he baked some yummy Paleo banana cake. On

the sweets list for morning tea was also peanut

brittle (courtesy of Don again), and 73% cacao

rose turkish delight (courtesy of Strikey)…oh and

let’s not forget Dave’s durian lollies. If you were-

n’t here, I’m sorry, but you missed out!

Born and raised in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and originally from Palestine. Abdallah

then continued to Graduate from The University of Manchester in the UK with a bachelor de-

gree in Mechanical and Nuclear engineering.

After graduation he decided to take a gap year to plan the career path he wanted to pursue. At

the same time he was able to uphold one of his life long ambitions and joined a semi-professional

football club in Abu Dhabi. it was unfortunate that this was cut short due to an injury which

meant he was unable to play for a while.

He then proceeded to start work at a technical department in a Marine Company specialising in

providing services to the offshore oil and gas industry. After spending 6 months, he did not feel

that this was a long term career option for him and therefore started looking at other opportu-

nities in the Nuclear and Oil & gas industries.

He consulted the managing director of WG Intetech, Dr Liane, who is also a close family friend

who supported him since first stepping into Manchester, about his future options. He was lucky

enough after her reference to meet two of the managers of WGIM /UK at the ADIPEC exhibi-

tion, whereby he showed a particular interest in joining the graduate program.

After an interview he was offered to join WGI as a graduate Integrity engineer. Here he was to

be trained in the UK for a period of 6 months and then moved back to the Abu Dhabi Offices.

This was a great opportunity for him as it enabled Abdallah to go back to the UK where he

spent one of the best periods of his life and then eventually settle in the place where he always

wanted to be (Abu Dhabi).

Working at the WGI Chester offices for the past 6 months was a great experience, as well as

being introduced to the asset integrity side of the oil and gas industry, he was able to meet a

great group of people who helped him settle in and develop himself since day one, Shout out to

everyone at the Chester office ☺.

Abdallah just started working at the WG Kenny offices in Abu Dhabi mid-October, after com-

pleting his 6 month training program. He is ready for a new experience and challenge in life.

On the Horizon…..

It has a been a slightly slower couple months in the social scene as with

all the site visits taken by our social coordinators but it was still fun to

catch up over some good food.

On Monday the 1st of September WGIM celebrated the start of

Spring and the coming months of sunshine with a beautiful and warm

Spring Breakfast. Dishes on the menu included gourmet sausage rolls,

bacon and egg wraps, ham and cheese mini croissants and delicious banana bread.

On Friday the 1st of November, we took enjoyment in international pasta day. Various hand made

pasta dishes were ordered from Pasta Cup that included the favourites of Carbonara and Marsala and

some delicious Gnocchi with spicy sausage.

There are some rumours spreading about a Coffee Appreciation Day which I am sure will be well appreciated indeed. But there is still some

work going around in the background to bring that to fruition. Now with the Christmas party being a combined event, there are also rumours

of some after work drinks at a nearby bar, please look out for emails in the near future for more information.
