Did you know that Legal Aid is Available for Family Mediation?Following the lack of publicity by the government to alert couples to the support available through Family Mediation the public conception is that there is no support for couples going through separation, divorce or dissolution of civil partnerships. This is not true, LEGAL AID for family matters is still available for Family Mediation. The Changes to Legal Aid enacted on 1st April 2014, stripped legal aid from Family lawyers acting for separating couples save for instances of serious evidence domestic abuse. However Family Mediation remains in scope of the Legal Aid bill and mediation services are ready and willing to support couples to access Legal Aid.SF&MS works across Surrey and offers Family Mediation and assessment for eligibility to access Legal Aid from 7 centres. A simple phone call on 01372 749911, an email to [email protected] or visit to our website WWW.sfms.org.uk can put you in touch with supportive administrators who will help you access mediation support to resolve your separation issues around children, finance and property. A childs voice should be heard in their parents separation. SFMS offers Direct Consultation of children aged 8+, the child session is offered free and allows parents the opportunity to hear what their children are thinking, wanting and hoping at this difficult time in their lives. Dont struggle and get to the point where you have to go to Court to resolve the issues around your separation. Come to Family mediation and make your own decision about your future and that of your children. If you are not eligible for Legal Aid we will assess your fee from our sliding scale based on gross income.
