Indiana Ice est; 2004-13/14}—Celebrating our Ten Year anniversary in the USHL.

Dear Hockey Prospect,

The Indiana Ice has enjoyed a winning tradition in their first nine years as a member of the United States Hockey League. Through our focus on excellence on and off the ice, we have built a tradition in junior hockey as one of the premier clubs and destinations in all of North America. The USHL recently awarded the USHL Eastern Fall Classic to Indianapolis and we look forward to hosting all eight member clubs from the Eastern Division the weekend of September 14th, 2013.

As we enter our Ten Year anniversary in the USHL, our resume has included a 2009 Clark Cup Championship, a 2008 East Division regular season championship and semi-finalist appearances in 2007 and 2012 and 2010 in the Clark Cup Final Four. In addition, Indiana was the 2007-2008 USHL Organization of the Year and the following summer saw Ice defenseman John Carlson being drafted in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals. In addition to Carlson, the Ice has seen defenseman Torey Krug (Boston) and Cameron Schilling (Washington) spend time in the “Show.” Furthermore, multiple players have recently signed professional contracts including Daniil Tarasov with the San Jose Sharks.

Our training facility is located downtown at Pan Am Pavilion and we play a portion of our home games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, home to the 2013 Central Division Champion Indiana Pacers, 2012 WNBA Champion Indiana Fever and the 2009 Clark Cup Champion Indiana Ice. The multiuse facility has been voted annually as one of the top ten arenas across the globe and recently completed a $25,000,000 upgrade with new LED Jumbo Tron, HD ring boards and multiple HD Video Boards, in addition to a state of the art sound system. Located in the heart of the “Circle City,” the move provides great exposure for the team and is ideal for drawing in an expanded audience of fans, scouts and partners of the Indiana Ice.

The USHL has long been known as the number one college preparatory league in the world. In its 35th season, the USHL produced over 270 NCAA Division I players. We believe in today’s society that the 5-6 year USHL/College Plan is the best option for any young aspiring athlete. Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience in college and work hard to live out your dream of playing in the show one day. Over 80% of our athletes get a four-year degree and starting compensation in the workplace will at least triple with a degree in your hand.

The USHL continues to command great respect from the NHL and colleges across the world. The USHL is the #1 developmental league in the world for players going through college to the professional ranks. With NHL and college scouts at most games, players have the opportunity to showcase their skills and develop their game in a league that is highly thought of by the NHL elite. In just the last two years, the Indiana Ice had six players selected in the NHL draft. The 2011 draft included Indiana Ice forwards Blake Coleman-Miami University (New Jersey), Brian Ferlin-Cornell University (Boston) and Sean Kuraly-Miami University (San Jose). The 2012 NHL Entry Draft saw forward Cristoval Nieves-University of Michigan get selected with the 59th overall pick by the New York Rangers before goaltender Jon Gillies-Providence University heard his name called by the Calgary Flames as the 75th overall pick. Forward Robbie Baillargeon-Boston University rounded out the trio as the 136th pick by the Ottawa Senators.

As the 12th largest city in the United States with a downtown revitalization now almost complete over 20 years, our fans came out in big numbers to experience the exciting brand of hockey our players bring to each game. The Indiana Ice finished first in attendance in 2005-06 and we have been in the top three the past seven seasons. The Ice also holds the all-time North American Jr. A single game attendance record of 14,892 spectators at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Each individual player’s development is one of our primary goals within our organization’s mission. Our coaching staff will spend a great deal of time developing our players’ skills in practice. The Ice players will develop their bodies athletically through a structured in-season workout program with St. Vincent Sports Performance Center (www.definingsportsperformance.com). Our high school players attend prestigious Cathedral High School, a private Catholic institution in Indianapolis. We will expect that our players enrolled in school overachieve and we will provide the support and structure to ensure that. The Indiana Ice employs a full-time certified Equipment Manager and a certified Athletic Trainer. The Ice also employs a bus driver and owns a team Prevost sleeper bus, allowing our athletes to get the proper amount of rest when travelling during the season.

As a member of the Indiana Ice, our players get to experience all of the cultural benefits of our outstanding city, continue to build on their athletic and academic goals and join our mission to bring the Clark Cup back home to the state of Indiana in 2013-14 while celebrating our Tenth Anniversary in the USHL.

Sincerely Yours,

Paul Skjodt Jeff BrownCEO/Governor GM/Head Coach
