SincetakingoveratSimpsonin2006,DaveClevelandhastransformedtheprogramintooneofthemostrespectedintheregionandthecountry.Clevelandhasproducednational-championshipcaliberathletesonaregularbasis,restoringSimpson’sproudtrackandfieldtradition.

The2013seasonmarksCleveland’seighthatthehelm.In2008,heearnedIowaConferenceIndoorWomen’sCoachoftheYearhonorsandin2010heledthewomen’steamtop-20finishesatindoorandoutdoornationals,finishingtheoutdoorseasonrankedNo.9inthenationbytheUSTFCCCA.Cleveland’sstudent-athletesperformintheclassroomas

wellandareaperennialfixtureintheUSTFCCCAAll-AcademicTeam.

BeforecomingtoSimpson,Clevelandwasafour-timeconferencecoachoftheyearastheboys’headcoachatCedarFallsHighSchoolandwonfourconferencechampionshipsinwomen’strackatWebsterCity.

ClevelandgraduatedfromtheUniversityofNorthernIowain1990.Asacollegiateathlete,hewasathree-timeconferencehighjumpchampion.Heearnedamaster’sdegreefromViterboin2001andaddedaMaster’sofScienceinEducationalLeadershipfromDrakein2009.DaveandhiswifeTerra,sonMax,anddaughtersLangleyandBrinleyresideinIndianola.

Newin2011,SimpsonreplacedthetrackandturfinsideBillBuxtonStadiumtoprovidestudent-athletestheopportunitytocompeteonthenation’sfinestplayingsurfaces.InstalledonthefieldwasaFieldTurfRevolutionplayingsurface,thefirstofitskindtoappearintheMidwest.Thetrackisafull-pour,10-millimetertrackfromBeynon,thesamesurfacefoundattheUniversityofIowa.

Simpson’smainindoorfacilities,theCarseFitnessCenterandtheCowlesCenter,houseavarietyofdifferentamenitiesfortraining,strengthandconditioningandrecreation.Simpson’sindoorfacilitiesincludea5,000square-footweightroom,acompetitionfieldhouseforbasketballandvolleyball,racquetballcourts,awrestlingroom,a25-meterswimmingpool,lockerroomsandindoorbattingcages.

OtheroutdoorvenuesincludeDickandNancyBuxtonMemorialTennisCourts,McBrideBaseballFieldandtheSimpsonSoftballComplex.Simpson’sgolfteamspracticeandcompeteattheIndianolaCountryClub.

KeNt campus ceNter Inthefallof2012Simpsoncelebratedthemuch-anticipatedopeningoftheKentCampusCenter,whichquicklytookitsplaceasthecentralmeetingplaceandcrownjeweloftheSimpsonCollegecampus.Thestudentcenterincludesseveralrestaurants,includingAuBonPainandRedMango,aswellasthecollegebookstoreandthePrincipalBlackBoxTheatre.ThesecondfloorfeaturestheHubbellDiningRoomandspaceforseveralSimpsonoffices.

Simpson’sstrengthandconditioningprogramwillbeanimportantelementinyourathleticexperienceatthecollege.Simpson’scertifiedstrengthandconditioningstaffwillworkwithyoutobuildafitnessplanthatcanreducetheriskofinjuryandimproveyourathleticperformance.

TheathletictrainingstaffatSimpsonrealizesthatinordertohaveasuccessfulseason,thetoppriorityforparentsandcoachesistheathlete’shealth.Thefourcertifiedathletictrainersonstaffandtheir30studentsprovidequalityhealthcaretoover500athletes.Tohelpkeepcostsdown,theyevaluate,treat,andrehabilitateallathletesoncampus.Inaddition,twoteamphysiciansroutinelyvisitthetrainingroomtoevaluateathletesanddeterminetheneedforfurthertestingandcare.
