DIII SOFTBALL COMMITTEE The NJCAA Division III Softball Committee is
responsible for setting policies and procedures for the approval
by the NJCAA Board of Directors. This committee is made up of
NJCAA Region Directors, Assistant Region Directors and the
NJCAA Softball Coaches Association President.
Each NJCAA Region Director will submit, in
rank order with overall records, the top teams
in their region for poll consideration. The
region rankings will then be handed over to
Sectional Directors to create a Top 10. The
NJCAA will release seven Division III softball
rankings on a weekly basis beginning March
14. In order for a team to be eligible for
ranking they first must have their schedule/
results and stats up to date on the NJCAA
website. They must also then be submitted by
their region director to the national office for
poll consideration.
The NJCAA Top 10 will be released each poll
date on the NJCAA (www.njcaa.org) website.

2012 DIII Softball Preseason Poll
Making only their second trip to the national
tournament, the Roadrunners claimed the 2011
title. Gloucester will rely on several new additions to
the roster in 2012 as they attempt to be the first
team to repeat as champions since Monroe CC (N.Y.)
won three straight between 2006 and 2008.
#1 GLOUCESTER
Rank College Returning Starters 2011 Record
1 Gloucester County College, N.J. 3 49-5 Despite losing most of last season’s championship squad, the Roadrunners are favored to repeat in 2012.
2 College of DuPage, Ill. 5 50-8 The Chaparrals return two of the nation’s top base stealers as they make a run towards their fifth national title.
3 Tompkins Cortland Comm. College, N.Y. 5 34-8 Returning two All-Americans, the Panthers will be one of the top teams in the highly-competitive Region 3.
4 Itasca Community College, Minn. 6 34-16 Six returning starters will fuel the Vikings drive towards a third-straight trip to the national tournament.
5 Monroe Community College, N.Y. 7 29-19 The Tribunes return seven starters as they aim for a seventh-consecutive national tournament appearance.
6 Ridgewater College, Minn. 5 37-10 Seeking their sixth trip to the national tournament, the Warriors will hope to pull of their first top-three finish.
7 Brookdale Community College, N.J. 3 42-9 After missing only their second of 15 national tournaments in 2011, the Jersey Blues are anxious to return in 2012.
8 Suffolk County Community College, N.Y. 3 19-16 Solidifying themselves as a consistent national tournament qualifier, the Sharks try to take it to the next step.
9 Herkimer County Community College, N.Y. 6 34-9 The addition of four All-State high school players will give the Generals a great shot at a district title in 2012.
10 Anne Arundel Community College, Md. 4 17-7 The Pioneers ended a four-year hiatus from the national tournament last season and are seeking a return.

Gloucester County College captured the Division III NJCAA National Tournament softball championship with a 6-4 win over College of DuPage. Gloucester snapped a 4-4 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh to win its first national softball title. Gloucester second baseman Justine Mattia started the winning rally with a lead-off single in the seventh. She scored on a two-out throwing error to snap the tie and Lauren O'Rourke followed with a bad-hop RBI single to left. Kristina Morgan then pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh to secure the victory. Morgan came on in relief and threw three scoreless innings for the win. Roadrunners catcher Caitlyn Pipolo went 2-for-3 and had RBI singles in her first two at-bats as Gloucester built a 4-0 lead. Gloucester finished the season 49-5. DuPage, ranked No. 1 in the final national poll, finished 50-8 and was denied a fifth crown in school history.
