KETCHIKAN

Ketchikan, Alaska’s most southern port, is located about 600 miles north of Seattle and about 900 miles south of Anchorage. Nestled in the Alexander Archipelago, Ketchikan’s protected waters and rich forests provide fantastic fishing, recreation, and breath-taking beauty. Ketchikan can be reached via a short 90-minute flight from Seattle. In addition, the community is served by the Alaska State Ferry systems from ports south, Prince Rupert, British Columbia and Bellingham, Washington.

Ketchikan’s clear waters provide great opportunities for anglers of all levels. Whether you are concentrating on that one trophy king salmon, halibut fishing, fishing for pinks or cohos on light tackle, freshwater fishing for trout or stealhead, or just looking forward to an afternoon out in the boat, Ketchikan is sure to meet your expectations and more!

Ketchikan was originally settled to support a huge salmon packing and canning industry. With a population of about 12,000 year-round residents, it is the fifth largest city in Alaska. Early in its history, great steamships packed with adventurers, settlers and prospectors of every kind found their way up the coast to Ketchikan. To this day, adventurers still make the trek to this area to take in the awesome sites, sounds, and excitement that Ketchikan has to offer.
