The goal of FA is to monitor student learning to provide ongoing feedback that can be used by teachers to improve their teaching and by students to improve their learning. In MFPS, FAs are not weighted. This allows us to have greater flexibility to design alternative modes of assessment apart from pen and paper tests to best meet students’ learning needs. Although FAs are not weighted, we would like to empahsise to all parents/guardians and students, the importance of instilling the habit of regular revision in our young charges as this will help them to consolidate their learning on a daily basis. Enclosed with this letter is a copy of the examination policy, detailed assessment plan and schedule for 2018. Please acknowledge receipt of the assessment plan and schedule for your child/ward by returning the reply slip to his/her form teacher. Dear Parents / Guardian,

School Assessment Plans and Schedules for All Students

As shared with all parents during the Sharing cum Interaction Session by Form and Co Form Teachers,

the school has refined our School Assessment plans to place greater emphasis on Formative

Assessments (FAs) which will encourage our students to take greater ownership for their learning.

From 2018, Continual Assessments (CAs) will be replaced by FAs. The goal of FA is to monitor student

ASSESSMENTS FOR PRIMARY 3 (2018)

Please take note of the following: 1. Pupils who are absent during the semestral assessments must produce a valid medical

certificate for the day. No marks will be given for the paper if pupils are absent without a valid medical certificate. Pupils who are absent for any assessment will have to submit their valid medical certificates to their form teachers immediately upon returning to school the next day.

2. In line with PSLE guidelines, pupils are not allowed to bring mobile phones or any other electronic devices capable of storing and displaying visual or verbal information into the examination room as this will be construed as attempting to cheat.

3. Pupils who attempt to cheat during an assessment will not be awarded any marks for the paper. 4. Latecomers will not be given additional time. Latecomers who miss the paper entirely will not

be allowed to sit for the paper and no marks will be awarded to them.
