Fashion • In 1900 many women wore long dresses and skirts.• They also wore huge hats with feathers, ribbons,

bows, and artificial flowers. • Occasionally some women would have complete

stuffed male humming birds on there hats for the ones who could afford it.

Disaster • From August 27, to September 12,1900 was the time

period where a hurricane hit land. The hurricane was a category 4. It hit Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, south Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas (mostly Galveston) much of central u.s., great lakes region and Atlantic Canada. The hurricane was known as “The Hurricane of 1900” and “1900 Galveston Hurricane”
