    With the esception of the Slliuwnris, who

    have always been a well behaved lot, the

    properly drilled and disciplined. TlieseGhinwaris are the only tribesmen whose

    villages along the Pass were left standing

    after the re-taking of th e Khyber by GeneralHarnmond in the winter of 1897 08 arid, on A o

    reputation ofthe Yipahs of five rniles up the Kajurtt Valley. They bear
