LEGACY GIFTS
Our Lord reminds us of the abundant blessings that come from a generous heart. “Give and gifts will be given to you;a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure withwhich you measure will in return be measured out to you.” When you give your time, talent and financial resources toour parish, it strengthens our faith community in so many wonderful ways!
Did you know that there are also opportunities to make a legacy gift to Our Saint Jude Parish that will touch the livesof parishioners for generations to come? Please prayerfully consider remembering our parish in your will and estateplans. For more information, call our parish at 973-691-1561, ext. 13 for further assistance and to discuss optionsthat might work for you. Thank you so much for all you do for Saint Jude Church -- now and in the future!
MARCH FOR LIFE
This coming January 23, 2018 will be the 44th anniversary of the Roe versus Wade Supreme Court decision that, sofar, has legalized the killing of 60,000,000 babies not yet born. Since that ominous date, science has proven that aunique human life begins at conception. The baby’s DNA is the same then as it will be throughout that person’slife. The only difference is the stage of development: whether a fetus, a newborn, a five year old, a teenager or anadult. Over those years, a lot of pro-life advocacy, prayers, and education has begun to change the tide but there isstill much to do, much of which requires legislative action. On Friday, January 19th, I invite you to join me and otherpro-life supporters on our annual “March for Life” journey to Washington D.C. This peaceful demonstration shows ourlegislators and the general public that “we care” and are not giving up the fight for the lives of the unborn. If you havenever been on the “March,” I can guarantee you an experience you won’t soon forget. The Knights of Columbussponsors the bus so there is no cost to you other than your sacrifice of that day. The day begins with an early massand ends when the bus returns around 10:30 PM that night. For more information, call or e-mail Gerry Kaufhold on973-229-6777 or [email protected].

SOLEMNITY OF THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
PRAYER FOR THE NEW YEAR
Remember us, O God; from age to age be our comforter. You have given us the wonders of time, blessings in daysand nights, seasons and years. Bless your children at the turning of the year and fill the months ahead with thebright hope that is ours in the coming of Christ. You are our God, living and reigning, forever and ever. Amen.
PRAYER FOR PEACE
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where is injury, pardon; wherethere is doubt, faith; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness; joy. O Divine Master, grant that I maynot so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is
in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
