Year 3 RE: This week we are thinking about where Sikhs go to worship – the Gurdwara. Look at the following clips to help you
understand what happens in the Gurdwara and why it is such an important building for Sikhs:-
https://youtu.be/m6VWFDxyCr4
https://youtu.be/BjHfAug1K8E
www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjHfAuq1K8E
The Gurdwara in the first clip is in Gravesend you might have seen it when you have visited it. Visit their website to find out about the
different things Sikhs do in Gravesend to help their local community:-
https://gurunanakdarbar.org
Now go to Purple Mash and complete the activity set for you to try and answer the question – why is the Gurdwara at the heart of the
Sikh community and what happens inside the building?

Year 4 RE: This week we continue to think about life as a journey and the different ways religions remember the milestones in
people’s lives. This week we are going to think about weddings in the Jewish faith.
What do you look forward to as an adult? What responsibilities will you have as an adult? For Jewish boys and girls they take part in a
very special service called a Bar Mitzvah for boys and a Bat Mitzvah for girls to mark their growth as an adult. Watch the following
clips to help explain this is a bit more detail:-
https://youtu.be/RDZuvPpzXCk
https://youtu.be/tEBnpxhb0rc
Now go to Purple Mash and write a letter explaining to others what happens at a Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations.
