1) STUDENT ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR THIRD YEAR STUDENTS 19th
July 2014
CSE Department organized a Guest Lecture on “How to select an Industry Based Project”, dated
19th July 2014. Mr. Hrushikesh Zadgaokar Senior Software Developer Persistent Systems-Home
Security Wing. Nagpur was invited to explore the knowledge sharing on the domain before
starting their project work. He highlighted some of the key points from industry point of view on
the development side what industry expects from the freshers when he joins the company.
He as a alumni of the college he encouraged students to participate on Microsoft Contest so as to
experience new software’s to develop their application and also on open source software and
tools available.This programme was basically aim to bring aware of latest tools and technologies
that are in used today and how to get agile with existing systems, also what the major subjects
that they need to concentrate specifically when a particular domain knowledge is applied.
2) One day workshop on Web Scripting under professional chapter CSI was organized for
final year student dated 1/11/2014. The session was conducted by Mr.Pranav Raulkar ,
Module Lead, Persistent Systems, Nagpur.

3) 2-day National Conference on 'Recent Trends in Mobile and Cloud Computing
2-day National Conference on 'Recent Trends in Mobile and Cloud Computing at Shri
Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management organized a 2-day National
Conference on 'Recent Trends in Mobile and Cloud Computing' (NCRMC-2014). NCRMC-
2014 was inaugurated on 17th December, 2014. The conference was organized by
Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with Department of Science
and Technology (DST).The inaugural programme was conducted in the presence of Dr. R. S.
Pande, Principal, RCOEM, Nagpur and Dr. M. B. Chandak, Convener (NCRMC-2014) and
Head of the Department (CSE) .The Chief Guest for the inaugural function was Dr. Umesh
Bellur, Professor, Department of Computer Science, IIT Powai. Dr. Bellur’s areas of interest
include virtualization and cloud computing, problems revolving around VM provisioning,
placement and migration. He delivered a key-note on “Virtualization and Cloud Computing”
highlighting the important research issues on virtualization.

On 18th December 2014, NCRMC-2014 began with an expert keynote by Dr. Umesh
Deshpande, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, VNIT, Nagpur. His areas of
interest include Multi-agent systems, Distributed Systems, Soft Computing. Dr. Deshpande
spoke on the topic “Recent Research in Wireless Sensor Networks”.

Ltd had conducted a session on “Mobile payments using NFC”.The session was mainly focused
on importance Near Field Communication(NFC), its usage in real life, conventional payments
possible using NFC chip and making the money related transactions efficiently and securely
through mobile.

on “Mobile payments using NFC”.
On 18th Dec, a session conducted by Mr. Amit Kale, Director, Global Logic Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur
on ‘Mobile Trends in Software Industry and Challenges’.
The focus of the session was mobility trends and challenges to develop the understanding for the
current landscape of the mobile industry and the emerging trends and technologies. He gave an
overview of the mobile ecosystem, architectures and operating systems of Android and iPhone.
He also discussed the challenges like small form factor, limited resources and security that the
mobile platform poses.

The session included cloud computing and its types, cloud architecture and cloud security. The
main focus of the session was to provide practical importance and usage of cloud computing in
research areas.

4) Training on java and Web programming
The College also organized the Inaugural function of “Training on java and Web
programming” for the officers working in the Systems Department of Western Coalfields
(WCL) on 17th November 2014. The chief guest for the function were Shri. V.K.Jha,
Principal, (MDI, HRD), WCL, Shri T. K. Roy, GM(Systems), WCL, Shri. M.K. Singh,
GM (HRD), WCL.Dr. R.S. Pande, Principal RCOEM, presented the presidential address
Dr.M.B.Chandak in this continual education program briefed the gathering about the 20
days training programme that was jointly organized by CSE dept and MDI,HRD,WCL
under Industry academia interface in association with III Cell at RCOEM, Nagpur. The
training was conducted in two slots of duration 17/11/2014 To 27/11/2014 and 5/12/2014
To 13/12/2014. The training content includes Java, JavaScripting, Servlets, HTML, and
Interaction with Oracle 11 g Database.

5) “One Day National conference on Research in Cloud and Cyber Security”
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Shri Ramdeobaba College of
Engineering and Management, Nagpur, in association with Computer Society of India
(CSI), organized a one day National conference on Research in Cloud and Cyber Security
on 21st February, 2015.Advocate Mahendra Limaye, a Techno-Legal expert in Cyber
Security and Cyber Legal Education, graced the Inaugural Function of the Conference as
the Chief Guest. The highlights of the conference were:
• Keynote Address on “Cyber Crimes and Cyber Law” by Chief Guest Advocate Mahendra
Limaye
• Full day Workshop on “Cyber Security and Digital Forensics” conducted by Mr.
Tanmay Dikshit & Mr. Paresh Chitnis (CPAG) Nashik.
• Paper Presentation in Two Tracks.

A Speech of Dr.M.B.Chandak, HOD, CSE and Convener Dr.Avinash Agrawal was delivered to
brief the conference. Dr. S. D. Mohgaonkar, Officiating Principal, RCOEM, delivered the
presidential address, The Inaugural Ceremony was followed by a workshop, which covered
topics like Forensics- including Live Mobile Forensics and Live RAM Clone, Investigation and
Security- including IP Tracking Methods and Pure hands-on Training in Ethical Hacking. Expert
demonstrated how calls can be spoofed and the ways to bypass authentication in operating
systems. The Conference also included a paper presentation competition which witnessed around
20 interesting papers on Research in Cloud and Cyber Security. Mrs. Pallavi Chaudhary, HOD,
IT Department, PIET, Nagpur and Dr. Shital Raut, Assistant Professor, VNIT, Nagpur gladly
consented to judge the paper presentation. All in all, the conference proved to be a highly
knowledgeable experience for all the participants. the conference was concluded with a vote of
thanks by Prof. Devishree Naidu, Student Branch Coordinator, CSI-RCOEM student Branch.

6) POLARIS ‘15 Two days National Level Technical Symposium
A two-day National Level Technical Symposium and cultural fest – POLARIS’15 30th-31st
January, 2015 was organized by CSE Dept. The event aims to encourage the students towards
co-curricular activities and provide a platform to showcase their talent. The event was
inaugurated on 30th January, 2015. Dr. Subrata Das, Director, Maharashtra Remote Sensing
Application Centre, Nagpur was the chief guest for the occasion. Dr. R.S. Pande, Principal,
RCOEM, delivered the presidential address. He motivated the students to actively participate in
the upcoming events. Dr. M. B. Chandak, Head, CSE Department, congratulated the organizing
team for designing innovative events for POLARIS. Professor in-charge of POLARIS, Prof. D.
Naidu briefed the gathering about the competitions. CASOPES, the departmental magazine was
unveiled by the dignitaries. Final year student, Mr. Vicky Thakur, President, Compusys, gave
details about Compusys society and Ms. Simran Jain, Secretary; CSI gave the vote of thanks.

Inaugural was followed by Dr. Subrata Das, technical key note address on “Emerging Research
in GIS Domain”. He introduced ‘Bhuvan- Gateway to Spatial World’ a project by Govt. of
Maharashtra and enlightened the gathering about the latest trends in GIS (Geographical
Information system), Photogrammetry, LIDAR technology, SAMMS mobile technology and
various applications of Remote Sensing. The research areas to which students can contribute
were also discussed.
