GVK’s 330 MW Shrinagar HEP was inaugurated by Shri Akhilesh Yadav, CM of UP ; Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, former CM of UP and President of Samajwadi Party in the presence of Dr. GVK Reddy, our Founder Chairman and Managing Director, along with Mr. Prasanna Reddy, President - Hydro, GVKPIL; Mr. Krishna Ram Bhupal, Director, Shrinagar HEP, and other dignitaries.

Yadav said that this project would prove to be a boon for UP and will significantly contribute towards the state’s economic growth. Located on the river Alaknanda in Tehri/Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, the Shrinagar HEP accommodates four vertical turbines of 82.5 MW each. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed with the state of UP and 12% output will be given free to the state of Uttarakhand.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Our Founder Chairman and Managing Director, Dr. GVK Reddy has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at Aviation Awards 2014, Hyderabad. He has been recognized for his invaluable contribution to the aviation sector in the country. These awards were organized by SAP Media and audited by an international audit firm Ernst & Young.

In another significant milestone, Goindwal Sahib TPP Unit #2 was test synchronised with the 220 KV Grid. The Unit, on load with oil firing, achieved a maximum load of 27 MW. Earlier, in July 2013, Unit #1 was synchronized with the grid and more recently, the Stacker and Reclaimer Travelling trial was also successfully completed by PLC.

National Safety Week Celebrations at Goindwal Sahib TPP and Jegurupadu CPP

A friendly cricket match was organised between the welfare committee teams of Gautami CCPP and Jegurupadu CCPP. The match witnessed lot of enthusiasm from both teams. Gautami CCPP team won the match and Mr. Zakir Hussain, GM (FAS) presented the awards to the winners.

Progressing significantly on its mine,rail and port infrastructure, GVK Australia received permit from The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) to dispose of dredge spoil at a deep water location off shore at Abbot Point, subject to strict environmental conditions. Welcoming this approval, CEO, GVK Australia, Mr. Darren Yeates said, “This is a significant milestone in developing our Galilee Basin coal projects, which represent the creation of over 20,000 direct and indirect jobs and over $40 billion in taxes and royalties.”

GVK CSIA’s #Welcome to T2 Campaign

A week before the opening up of T2, GVK CSIA launched an integrated social media campaign, #Welcome to T2, on Facebook and Twitter. As part of the campaign, Mumbaikars were invited to post welcome messages for the first arriving passengers at the swanky new T2 on the GVK CSIA Facebook page or on twitter. The campaign saw over 300 messages, received from Facebook and Twitter, which were displayed at the arrival gates of GVK CSIA T2 extending a warm welcome to the passengers. Also, as part of the campaign, videos and pictures of the first arriving passengers and staff were uploaded on the popular picture sharing application, Instagram.

GVK CSIA’s Aero Marketing team in collaboration with Singapore Airlines and Singapore Tourism board ran a marketing campaign on Facebook named ‘Fly Mumbai’ in March 2014. Singapore Airlines and Singapore Tourism board sponsored many prizes including a 3 nights and 4 days vacation package. This made GVK CSIA the first airport in India to conduct any such activity in alliance with an airline and a tourism authority on social media.

GVK participated in the 4th International Exhibition and Conference on Civil Aviation held in Hyderabad. The event, organised by Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), provides business networking opportunities for aviation companies to explore opportunities in India. Inaugurated by the Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ajit Singh in the presence of the Governor of AP, Shri E.S.L. Narasimhan and other dignitaries,the event witnessed participation from many corporates including GMR, AAI, Air Bus, Falcon, Air India.

GVK Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Auckland Airport, that will see the two airports form a “sister airport” relationship. This partnership would include increasing international air links and tourism between and beyond both airports’ respective countries. Besides developing the traffic flow, the agreement would also bring in best practices to improve services offered to passengers, airlines, and all other stakeholders.

GVK CSIA hosted India’s first ever International Air Transport Association (IATA) regional

passenger experience workshop. The two day workshop was held at The Leela, Mumbai with an agenda focussed on the methods and technologies to make the passenger travel smooth and hassle free. Over 110 delegates representing airlines, airports, government bodies and aviation solution providers from across the globe attended the workshop. Mr. Naveen Chawla, Vice President - Aero Marketing, GVK CSIA gave an opening presentation on facilities that enhance passenger experience at the new integrated Terminal 2.

GVK CSIA, Mumbai received the DNV Business Assurance Management System Certificate for its conformation to the Management System Standards. The ISO 22301 certification endorses GVK CSIA’s business continuity management systems in the areas of operation and maintenance services. It also covers GVK CSIA’s corporate and finance functions. DNV Business Assurance is a global leading certification body that aims to assure the performance of products, processes and organisations through certification, assessment and training services.

The Corporate Communications team of GVK Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru was honoured at the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) Awards Conclave 2014. The team has bagged four awards for PR case study on launch of the new Terminal, Corporate film titled ‘Bangalore – More than a city, a journey”, Corporate publication of CSR Community Report and Corporate advertisement in industry magazines. Over 400 Corporates including Mahindra & Mahindra, Coca-Cola, Iscon, TAFE and others have been nominated where GVK KIA emerged as a winner.

Our Vice-Chairman, Mr. G V Sanjay Reddy was among the esteemed panelists in the discussion on ‘Managing a Business in Adversity’, along with Mr. Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman-RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and Mr T V Narendran - Managing Director, Tata Steel Ltd at the CII Annual General Meeting and National Conference 2014. On this important platform, Mr. G V Sanjay Reddy said “Adversity leads to innovation.” The discussion highlighted the need for adopting innovative strategies to counter and manage the growing business challenges.

DNA iCan Women Marathon was held a day after the International Women’s day, on 9th March 2014 in Mumbai. A 5 km “FUN RUN” was India’s first ever Women’s Half Marathon that was organised to celebrate the spirit of achievement among women. A team of 13 women from GVK CSIA participated in the run with a spirit to make the world a better place for women to live in.

Vivanta by TAJ (VBT) organised a bakery workshop, ‘Bake-out’, as part of Tata Volunteering Week, marking the 175th Birthday of Late Mr. JN Tata. ‘Bake-out’ was a fund-raising event organised by VBT in association with MAD-Make a Difference, an NGO that provides basic communication skills to over 4500 underprivileged children.

The participants learnt to bake chocolate brownie, banana bread, crème brulee & butter cookies.

GVK BIO co-hosted the 11th Edition of the BIO Asia 2014, held in Hyderabad based on the theme ‘Innovate. Evolve.’ As part of the event, GVK BIO participated in the two day conference and the CEO Conclave which focussed on key industry trends in Drug Discovery, Therapeutics and BIO IT.

GVK BIO is scaling up its capabilities both on research and manufacturing turfs. GVK BIO is planning to set up a 200-250 Kilolitre capacity API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) plant in Vishakhapatnam. This is in addition to its existing 135 kilolitre plant in Hyderabad. Besides the APIs, the company has recently set up a formulation lab in Bangalore. Also, GVK BIO is currently working on 1500 projects and has discovered three investigational new drug compounds in last couple of years.

Over 50 matches, singles and doubles, were played among men and women in 3 days. The event witnessed exciting matches and nail-biting moments.

GVK EMRI-Madhya Pradesh organised an IEC (Information, Education and Communication) programme as part of its World Water Day Celebration on 22nd March 2014. GVK EMRI Team shared slogans such as “Jal hai to kal hai” and “Paani bachaye, prithvi bachaye” to spread awareness about the importance of saving water. The activity was undertaken in Bhopal, Panna, Mandla, Damoh and other districts of MP.

Mr. Girish Kumar Sharma, EPC has won the slogan writing competition on safety as part of DLF’s 2nd Annual Safety Awareness Week observed from 4th to 7th March 2014. The winning lines- “Safety-safety sab kahe, safety kare na koi, safety kare jo koi, to dukh kahe ko hoi”. Kudos to Mr. Girish Sharma!

GVK Employee Wins Safety Slogan Competition Organised by DLF

In a unique initiative, GVK EMRI -Gujarat organised a marathon for the physically challenged persons. The event, conducted in Patan district, witnessed an overwhelming response from the differently-abled persons who enthusiastically participated in the marathon. GVK EMRI state officials appreciated the efforts of the participants and presented the awards to the winners.

GVK EMRI-Himachal Pradesh reached a major milestone by handling over four lakh emergencies in the state. GVK EMRI 108 emergency response service was launched in HP on 25th December 2010, by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, with a fleet of 50 ambulances in seven districts. Currently GVK EMRI is providing emergency relief services in 12 districts of the state. Kudos to the untiring efforts and dedication of the GVK EMRI HP team.
