• Penryn improves on the accuracy of the APIC timer by performing an automatic correction due to frequency transitions.

• SMM Memory Range Registers• Specific cacheability control of the SMM BIOS region is provided through a

new mechanism that allows the system firmware to directly manage this space.

• Improved RDTSC and Lock Instruction Performance• Penryn improves on the latency of the RDTSC and all lock related instructions.

Lock related instructions should also see improvements in execution time.

• WBINVD Exiting• Addresses a virtualization support for special bus agents
