The Leading Mentors Publishing and Marketing System

    Teleseminar #1

This transcript is only minimally edited so you can still benefit directly from the live,

transformational experience of the original session.

1:01 Introduction to the Leading Mentors Publishing and Marketing Program

    CD Track 1

John: Well, hello everyone. This is John Eggen, the publisher at Mission Publishing and

welcome to Teleseminar #1 in The Leading Mentors Publishing and MarketingProgram.

Ive been really looking forward to being with you tonight. Our teleseminar isgoing to last 60 minutes. We have a great session planned for you.

The purpose of tonights mentoring is to provide you with orientation to the

publishing and marketing program youve just embarked on.

1:02 How to Work the Program to Get the Results You Want

By the time this session is over, I want you to have an even better understanding

of how you can work with the program to get the results that you want. At the end

of the session Ill give you two or three things that you can begin doing now to

get even faster results if you want to do that.

1:03 Making Each Teleseminar a Pleasant Experience

Id like to spend a moment describing a few ground rules for these teleseminars.

Whenever you are on a live call, whether its with me, or with one of our coaches

or other experts on my tam, be sure to call from a telephone with a landline if atall possible. Dont call in from a cell phone, or a speakerphone unless it has a

mute button. And if you do call from a cell or a speakerphone, please always use

your mute button to reduce interference on the line.

The reason for this is because without a mute button, both cell phones andspeakerphones affect the sound quality for everyone on the telephone bridge line.

If it ever happens, youll hear it and youll know what I mean.

VOIP technology like SKYPE and Vonage that are such common use nowadays,

and they, too, can cause trouble on a conference call or bridgeline call becausethey can cause your connection or other members connections to drop off the

    line.

In order to provide you and everyone with a great listening experience, when wegive the mentoring or training portion of a session, we may put you on a complete

mute. This blocks out all the background noise to assure that we do have great

    listening experience across the call.

But after the mentoring portion of the session, we usually have time for live

questions and answers. When we do, we open it up for live question and answer

or other types of interaction. If you are on a cell phone, speaker phone or VOIP,please always push *6 on your telephone to mute out the background noise.

If, then, you want to say something during a live question and answer, just push*6 once again and well all be able to hear you. But before you do that, please

always make sure your background is totally quiet, no music, no people talking,

no children playing and so on, because otherwise those sounds would disturb the

listening environment for everyone hearing the call or its recording.

A good rule of thumb I found is that when the lines are open, always put yourself

on mute unless youre ready to speak. If we all do this, it will create a greatenvironment for us.

1:04 John Eggens Obligation to You CD Track 2

I want you to know that I feel an obligation to teach you what I know and its

because of the real reasons behind this program. After reading the programintroduction letter, many people have remarked that it seems like Im giving an

extraordinary amount of value in the program for a pretty low fee and theyveasked me why Im doing this, and how I can do this.

So Ive thought about it and I decided I would come out of the closet and disclose

something to you that Ive never shared openly in a teleseminar before. I warnyou that what Im about to say is a little unusual but I decided to tell you anyway.

More than three decades ago, when I was 20 years old, I started to have a series ofunusual experiences where I remembered before I was born, in other words,

choosing to be born. They were like the near-death experiences that many have

reported having except they were near-birth experiences or before-birthexperiences. Im not the only one thats had these.

But I remember having experiences, being in my mothers womb, coming throughthe birth canal, and being born. I also remember before that, when I was the soul

who was choosing to be born in this world. Ive had dozens of these experiences,

usually as lucid dreams when Im sleeping but also during my meditations and

once during an amazing hypnotic regression that I had. These spiritualexperiences radically changed and expanded my understanding.

    3

For instance, I became aware that all of us chose to be born for a particularpurpose. Most of us have amnesia, if you will. Weve forgotten what it is. But

these experiences showed me that each of us come here with something in

particular to contribute, a unique gift to give the world. Its our small piece of the

divine plan for the progress of humanity. And if we bring this gift out into theworld, its an innovation. This is where innovations come from. No two of us are

the same. As Dr. Deepak Chopra says about this, The universe has no spare

parts. Thats one of my favorite quotes. Thats why. By the way, competition isan illusion, from my point of view, a struggle that only exists among those of us

who are unawakened or insecure about our unique gifts.

A good indicator of your purpose is what youre most talented at and what youre

most passionate about. A great indicator of your purpose is what you love to do so

much that you lose track of time when youre doing it.

These epiphanies Ive had since I was young have shown me that the optimumlife for a conscious, committed human being is aligning your purpose, that which

you were born to do, with how you make your living.

1:05 The Formula for True Wealth in the World CD Track 3

These experiences Ive had revealed that when you align your purpose and your

passion with how you profit, you have the formula for what I call true wealth in

this world, wealth on all levels. You impact the world as never before. In return, the universe supports you with everything you need, money-wise and otherwise.

These before-birth experiences drove me to do all the things you might have read

in my bio and on the website, to try and confirm what they revealed. It drove me

to study 5,000 years of history when I was in college. Struck by the role that

inspired innovations have played all human progress, these experiences drove meto specialize my masters degree work in innovations and marketing.

They drove me to seek out and work with the best business gurus and the bestpersonal and spiritual growth gurus I could find. And most important, they drove

me to test my radically shifted understandings about synthesizing purpose, profit,

personal growth and business growth, to test these things in the marketplace to seeif this synthesis would really work and create a better life, a better world.

This is why I spent the past 27 years or so focused on helping innovative andsocially conscious experts, professionals and entrepreneurs to apply what I taught

them, to innovate in marketing, to grow enterprises that make a positive

difference while making a profit. Usually I took a percentage of my clients

growth in revenues as my income, so if it didnt work, I didnt eat. That gave melots of incentive.

In the Program Introduction Letter and on our website, youve read some of myclients and members letters. Youve read what they wrote and so you know

some of the results our members and clients have gotten from using our high-

leverage strategies, tactics and systems that I teach. And what I want you to know

is thats how I tested out all these realizations I had during these unusual before-birth experiences.

In my work with experts and professionals, one thing I realized is that most areconscious, committed people who are striving to realize and integrate their sense

of purpose and passion with how they profit is really the optimum way to live.

But most are using the traditional professional practice business model where you

sell your expertise by the hour, the day or the project. This limits you in two

ways. It limits the number of people you can serve and it limits the amount of

    money that you can earn.

I happen to know a lot about business models. Ive been trained extensively in it.

So back in the 1980s, I began to help my clients adopt a new business model thatwas emerging, thanks to technology. This new model is an information publishing

business model. Today, virtually all leading experts and professionals have

adopted it, while rank and file professionals are still almost totally unaware of it.

The reason we began to use it is because it takes the lid off your business. It lets

you get your distinctive expertise, in other words, that gift you were born to givethe world, down into one medium, such as a book, for example, and then to

recycle it into a series of information products that help you reach anexponentially greater number of people in the world to maximize your income.

And then, in return, it lets you generate multiple streams of income so you can

live as you choose and do it all even better next year, and on into your future.

Because of these unusual, profound experiences that I had over the past more than

three decades now, Im dedicated to helping people similar to me, conscious,

committed, independent professionals, people like you, to do what we were bornto do in the most successful ways possible by adopting this simple, powerful

information publishing business model to whatever degree you want to.

For most of people, the best place to start is by creating a book. You and I have

talked about that in our previous conversations and well talk a lot more about that

in the future. So in a thousand words or less, thats the inside scoop on why Ideveloped this program and my team and I are committed so much to helping you

    to succeed with it.

And, you notice, as you begin to work with me, and work with us, that I dontwork alone. Im not a solo professional or a solopreneur. Im not the Lone

Ranger. As one of my friends said, even the Lone Ranger had Tonto. I conduct

this program with my team, many of whom are experts in their specialty. You willmeet many of them during the upcoming teleseminars in this Program.

Ive discovered my own unique ability, and I surround myself with others whose

unique abilities complement mine and supplement what I have with what theyhave in order to provide clients and members like you with a full range of the

expertise and help that you want.

1:06 What Youll Know After Completing This Program CD Track 4

One of my goals for this program is for you to know what I and my team know bythe time your training is through with us. For example: youll learn how to author

a quality, client-attracting book, as well as higher-priced information products and

programs. And create a book in as few as 90 days, if you want to do it that

quickly. You will also learn how to double your income, how to become a

recognized expert in your field, how to attract a lifelong stream of clients andincome, how to set goals, eliminate your biggest obstacles, how to get done what

    you want to get done.

Youll learn much more about this throughout your membership with us so please

dont worry that we dont cover everything in this first teleseminar, or even inyour first few sessions with us. Everything is available in both audio recordings

and written transcripts so that you can study them at your own pace.

Keep in mind that this is a custom mentoring program. Its not a boilerplate

course. This program evolves over time. The way Ive been developing it is basedon things members said you wanted when you filled out your program

applications, plus other things I think you need.

Throughout the program weve tallied up what members said they most wanted. We found that about two-thirds of you say you want to develop a book during the

program and then some higher-priced information products and programs either

during the program or after it is over.

About one-third of you said you wanted to develop an information product or

program first during our time together here. Most who want to create informationproducts or programs already have a book. And then, a few of you have said other

things. Most of the other comments were from members who already have a book

published and especially want to learn high-leverage marketing and strategies andtactics to market that book.

Also, youll recall that in the application there was a long list, about four or five

pages if I remember, of program features and benefits that were also included inthe program introduction letter. In the application, I asked you to check off the

ones you wanted to benefit from most.

The top priorities that members listed have become the focus of the teleseminarsyou have in The Leading Mentors Publishing and Marketing System Series

One. Topics that are other priorities were delivered as additional teleseminars that

are available in our Members-Only Web site for some members--depending on

    the level of your membership.

So let me tell you now more about your fellow members both current and past.

Some of you love to write and really look forward to writing your book orinformation product yourself. Some of you hate to write. You want to learn a

time-tested system you can use to author a book or information product without

    having to write it yourself.

Also, some of you want to create your book or info product quickly. Others of

you want to do it more slowly. Bottom line, we have systems and resources to

help you do it successfully either way.

In addition, some of you just want to learn the processes now. Youre not sure

exactly when you want to implement what you learn but some of you have said itwould probably be in the next year or so.

Also, some of the people in the group consider themselves do-it-yourselfers. Theywant the mentoring to learn how to do it and plan on doing as much of it as

possible themselves rather than hiring it out. Other people in the group want solid,

basic mentoring from me, but plan to hire specialists and vendors to do all thework, or most of the work. Again, we have systems and resources to help you do

    it successfully either way.

Thats an overview of our great group of members and your needs. Ive been

developing the program to meet that profile and Ill be continuing to develop it

and refine it throughout the months and years ahead. I monitor how the programunfolds and how you respond and, based on that, I make changes from time to

time according to what I feel is necessary to provide the greatest benefits to you

and the others, within the parameters of the program.

1:07 A Customized Mentoring Program for You CD Track 5

The Leading Mentors Publishing and Marketing System, Series One, is comprised

of I believe 25 teleseminars. They are about 60 minutes each. These

teleseminars include all the core information you will need to author your book orother information products, publish them, and market them effectively.

They are available on the Members-only Web site in audio and written transcripts,

so you can study them according to your preferences.

Additionally, for some members, depending upon your membership level, thereare fifteen or sixteen other teleseminars on the Members-only Web site. Theyre

numbered 33 through 46. These cover more advanced high-leverage publishing

    and marketing topics.

Typically, in each teleseminar we devote the majority of the hour to mentoring on

a specific topic, followed by question and answer time.

Some of the teleseminars are training-intensive and are conducted by me. Other

teleseminars include interviews on highly-relevant topics with other publishing

and marketing experts on my team.

Depending on your membership level, there are other features included in your

publishing and marketing program with us. If you want to review whats available

to you, contact us at [email protected]. Or call our

    Regional Office at 650-321-1306.

By the way, the interviews that I do with the experts on my team are content-richsuch sessions. If you want to hire one of the specialists or vendors interviewed,

thats definitely possible, thats up to you, and youll get the information on how

to do that during the teleseminar, but I want to emphasize that the interviewsthemselves are designed to be content rich in and of themselves and deliver the

mentoring that you want and deserve to get.

1:08 An Outline of Your Next Steps so You Can Learn and Prosper in this

    Program CD Track 6

Let me wind up this mentoring session just by outlining your next steps.

If you want to get a jumpstart on developing the most client-attracting book or

high-priced information product possible, Ill give you some homework that you

    can begin.

Its to study Teleseminars #2 and # 3 in The Leading Mentors Publishing and

Marketing System Series 1, as well as the resources for those two teleseminarslisted in the Table of Contents at the very beginning of the transcripts for The

Leading Mentors Publishing and Marketing System. Do the time-tested processes

I introduce to you. Its all explained in the session for you. Two other greatresources elaborate on those processes. The two resources are called

Teleconferences #6 and #8 listed in that part of the Table of Contents, as you will

see. And, by the way, youll learn the difference between teleseminars and

    teleconferences as you go along.

    8

Let me emphasize that generally the more time you invest in doing the processesinvolved with teleseminars #2 and #3, in other words, the homework Im offering

you now, the more compelling and the more client-attracting your books and

information products can become. Thats why Im offering it to you right now,

    right at the beginning.

Teleseminar #2 is designed to keep you from making the single biggest mistake

that most people make right before they start authoring a book, and that is, notacquainting themselves with the three big strategies for making money with the

book and then choosing which one is truly best for them.

In fact, most authors dont even realize there are three different strategies to

choose from. So in the next teleseminar, Teleseminar #2, I will teach you the

three big strategies for making money with a book. At the end of the session, Ill

be giving you important homework. Ill ask you to think which of the three

strategies youll want to focus on to achieve your particular goals in this program.

Now, if youre more interested in developing a high-priced information productthan a book, this Teleseminar #2 that Ive just been talking about is for you too,

because two of the three big strategies well be discussing are the key ones for

you to choose from if youre doing information products and programs.

Bottom line, Teleseminar #2 is designed to keep you from making the single

biggest mistake that probably 99% of the people in your situation make, themistake that prevents them from making real money from their book.

Then, in the subsequent session, Teleseminar #3, youll learn how to create your

information publishing plan. It will be based on which of the three big strategies

for making money you decide to take advantage of. It will be a three-year plan to

achieve your optimum personal and professional life in three years, includingwhat you want to accomplish in this years program.

It will take you step-by-step through how you can turn your expertise into a bookand high-priced info product and a system to attract clients automatically. Now,

when youre developing this plan, dont worry. You can change it anytime you

want, but as the old saying goes, if you dont know where you want to go, youprobably wont get there. I strongly recommend you use these resources and

    develop your plan.

So, imagine in the next few weeks as you work your way through these

teleseminars, youll be well on your way to having a publishing and marketing

plan to achieve your optimum personal and professional life in the next three

    years.

    9

Meanwhile, if you want to get a jumpstart on everything Ive just mentioned, hereare things you can do right now.

First, review Teleseminar #2, and then work through teleseminars #3 and #4. Like

I said before, if you want to develop a compelling, client-attracting book orinformation product, this is the single best step you can take to do it.

But, I want to emphasize something here. Most important of all, before youreview Teleseminar #2 and 3, start by reading and using your copy of the Quick

Start Guide. It will save you a ton of time, because it will explain in what order

you should study all 25 or so teleseminars in The Leading Mentors Publishing andMarketing System, Series One. Keep this in mind.

Depending upon your particular goals, it will reveal a track to follow. Be sure to

use that specific track throughout your program with us. If you have not chosen

your track yet, please read Step One in the Quick Start Guide and choose yourtrack immediately. Then refer to it frequently to stay on track throughout your

program, because it is designed to save you a tremendous amount of time andfrustration. You see, among all these teleseminars in The Leading Mentors

Publishing and Marketing System Series 1, not all of them should be studied in

the same sequence by different people. They vary according to your particulargoals. Thats why you need to study the Quick Start Guide first and pick the track

that approximates your goals and then stick with it!

So in summary, tonight I have given you a brief orientation to the program youve

embarked on. And I gave you some things you can begin doing right now to getfaster results if you want to starting with studying the Quick Start Guide and

choosing your track so you will save a tremendous amount of time and frustration.

Im going to open the lines right now in the remaining minutes. Were almost atthe top of the hour, but I do want to open the lines and see who might have a

question or comment theyd like to make before we close the session, so just give

me a minute and Ill open up the lines.

Okay. Who might have a question for us?

Jackie: John, this is Jackie from Oklahoma. Im so happy that this was at 8:00 instead of

    9:00.

John: Youre one of the people I had in mind when I set the time.

Jackie: Yes. One of the things, Im in the process of listening to the audio program on the

27 ways, and throughout that, there are references to the Mission MarketingMentors/A Variety of Things. Could we put that as part of the resources in this

forum? I think it would be fantastic.

John: You know, thats a really good idea.

John: So youre saying the resources that are referenced in the 27 ways series, take and

put them up in the members only site. Is that right, Jackie?

Jackie: Exactly. [The most powerful no-cost or low cost strategies for marketing your

business and book while you are still writing it from the 27 Ways series can be

    found in Teleseminar #27.]

John: Thats a great idea. Thank you for mentioning it. Who else has a question or

    comment?

Tessa: John, would you recommend that we try and get our own editors or will you

actually sort of provide editing or have editing resources?

John: The general rule of thumb is you should never do your own editing. For most ofus, the reason that makes sense is because were really not professional grade, but

I will tell you, even among writers that are the best of the best, generally, I dontknow anyone that does their own editing.

Usually just having a wise, experienced third party that looks at your documentand can give you feedback is a tremendous help. For most of us, its a life saver,

but Im saying, even if youre among the best of the best, they all do it.

Every one of the real pros has an editor, so yes, youll find some resources for that

in the directory right now, but I have other resources to get an editor, and I plan toteach you the process to get an editor, because how you approach it is very

    important.

    Tessa: Oh great. Thank you.

John: Does that answer your question, Tessa?

    Tessa: Yes, thats great.

John: Sure. Dont skimp on editors. Editors are not expensive and they make your booklook just great. I wont belabor that but I do have lots of things to say about the

wisdom of choosing a good editor. Dont get me started on it right now. Were

    already over time.

Who else has a question or comment?

Bonnie: John, its Bonnie from Toronto. I would ask you please if you could repeat thequestions because they are very, very difficult to hear.

John: But maybe what Ill do is Ill repeat them anyway for you.

    Bonnie: Thank you very much.

John: Sure. Who else has a question? Well take two more before we wind up tonight.

Robert: John, will we be working on book titles and things like that, and when?

John: Yes. Well be working on it and you know, Robert, I cant give you a date right

now, but I would say within a month, well start it. But you know, you dont haveto wait for a month if you dont want to.

Robert: The bigger part of the question is, I dont know which book to write and I really

come up with a new idea every single day. Its almost driving me crazy.

John: You know what I would suggest? Take a look at Teleconference #6 and the

process in there and you know, Ill tell you, what you come up with as a topicreally depends upon your intention for writing a book, and let me just spend a

    minute on that.

And by the way, for Bonnies sake, the question that Robert asked is, will we be

helping with titles and if so, when will we be starting? So that was the question.

It depends on your intention. Generally speaking, books are written for two

reasons in my opinion and this is just based on my own decades of experience.

This is what Ive kind of boiled it down to.

Some people write books to express themselves and really, what it turns out to be

is a valuable form of therapy for them. I acknowledge that its valuable to them,

and those books generally dont sell very well in the marketplace. They usuallybomb.

If a person is hoping for sales, they are usually sadly disappointed because

theyve done it just as a creative expression and its therapeutic and cathartic, butthats basically it.

The second group of people that write books are people that are writing it not fortheir own therapeutic relief and expression, but because they want to serve a

group of readers, their marketplace. And I would assume, Robert that youre in

    that category.

In that case, the title you choose, there are different formulas but in my decades of

experience, the single best formula has to do with finding words that express.

Robert: Again, John, its not so much about the title. Its about the thrust, the direction.

    John: The topic.

Robert: Well not the topic. Its all the same topic for me. Its the angle of how I write it.

There are how to books. There are books that you put in story format alaBlanchard. There are so many different ways to approach it that thats my

confusion. And what to put it in? How big to make it and how to constrain it? Did

you get the thrust of it?

Ive written The Info Guru Manual.I could write that kind of stuff forever and Iwant to do something different and that can be a popular book that can be a

successful book. And its finding that angle or thrust that I know can work.

John: Yes. Well there are two things. Number one, to pick how you write it, the bestplace to start is a style that is comfortable for you, that youre comfortable in

using yourself. Thats the most important thing because then your own soul will

    express itself through it.

The second thing you can do, you can get advice of editors and so on to give you

some ideas but ultimately you should start with a way of expressing thats reallynatural for you. And well be talking more about that.

    Robert: Okay.

    John: Is that helpful?

    Robert: A little.
