Every three months, we give you the best golf
El golf comienza a popularizarse en España. La
apertura de escuelas municipales, donde los niños
pueden iniciarse y jugar a precios asequibles, no
más caros de lo que cuesta apuntarse a cualquier
escuela de fútbol o baloncesto, se suma a los éxi-
tos de Sergio García, Azahara Muñoz, Carlota Ci-
ganda, y, sobre todo, Jon Rahm. Con el patrocinio
de eventos como el Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior
Masters se evidencia el renovado interés de las
autoridades por este deporte que genera riqueza y
miles de empleos. En la Región de Murcia también
se está apostando muy fuerte por el turismo del
golf como desestacionalizador del turismo y fuente
de riqueza. El nuevo Aeropuerto Internacional Re-
gión de Murcia será una de las plataformas en las
que se apoye esta comunidad para despegar defi-
nitivamente. Como dice Andrés Torrubia, reciente-
mente reelegido presidente de la FGCV, “El Golf es
un maravilloso aliado para el turismo”.Juan Cánovas
Golf is becoming more popular in Spain. The
opening of municipal schools, where children can
learn to play at affordable prices and no more ex-
pensive than it is to sign up for any football or
basketball school, to add to the successes of
Sergio Garcia, Azahara Muñoz, Carlota Ciganda,
and, above all, Jon Rahm.
With the sponsorship of events such as the Costa
Blanca Benidorm Senior Masters the renewed in-
terest of the authorities for this sport that gener-
ates wealth and thousands of jobs is evident.
The Region of Murcia is also very strongly com-
mitted to golf tourism as a tourism deseasonaliz-
er and source of wealth. The new Region of Mur-
cia International Airport will be one of the
platforms on which this community is based to
take off permanently. As Andrés Torrubia, recent-
ly re-elected president of the FGCV, says, “Golf
is a wonderful ally of tourism”.

VEN A CONOCER EL GOLF GET TO KNOW GOLFUna iniciativa de puertas abiertas en Alicante Golf promovido por la concejalía de deportes del Ayuntamiento de Alicante en colaboración con Making Golf Gestión, S.L

En total 120 niños y niñas alicantinas con edades comprendidas de
6 a 13 años disfrutaron del programa ¨VEN A CONOCER EL
GOLF¨, realizado en Alicante Golf y que proponía unas clases de
golf totalmente gratuitas para los asistentes.
Esta bonita acción tenía como objetivo promover el deporte en la
ciudad de Alicante y, en particular, dar a conocer y acercar el Golf y
sus valores a los más pequeños como, por ejemplo; el compañeris-
mo, respeto, disciplina, espíritu de trabajo y sacrificio, entre muchos
otros, con la esperanza de que sirvan para el desarrollo deportivo y
personal de quienes lo practican.
El programa de jornadas de puertas abiertas se realizó durante
cuatro jornadas con tres sesiones diarias de 1,5 horas de duración.
La gran acogida demuestra la excelente salud de la que goza el
Golf en la Comunidad Valenciana y, en especial, en la provincia de
Alicante.
El mundo del golf tiene que agradecer a Alicante Golf, al Ayunta-
miento de Alicante y a todo su equipo técnico por su apuesta e inte-
rés en el fomento del deporte, en esta ocasión, a través del Golf.
Jaime Ibáñez Peñalver, gerente de Alicante Golf, considera nece-
sario llevar a cabo este tipo de acciones promocionales público-pri-
vadas por el bien y futuro del sector del golf en Costa Blanca.
In total 120 children from Alicante aged from 6 to 13 years enjoyed
the program “GET TO KNOW GOLF”, which was completely free of
charge for attendees.
This wonderful idea aims to promote the sport in the city of Ali-
cante and, in particular, to make the young ones aware of Golf and
its values , eg; the companionship, respect, discipline, dedication
and sacrifice, among many others, with the hope that it will serve
them in the sport and their personal development.
The program of open days were held on Wednesday 26, Thursday
27 and Friday 28 December in 3 sessions of 1.5 hours each: 10: 00-
11: 30, 12: 00-13: 30 and 16: 00- 17:30.
The great response demonstrates the excellent health that Golf
enjoys in the Valencian Community and, especially, in the province
of Alicante.
Special thanks to Dña Marisa Gayo Madera, Councillor for
Sports, Health and Animal Protection, Commerce and Hospitality of
the City Council of Alicante and all its technical team for their com-
mitment and interest in promoting sports, this time, through Golf.
Jaime Ibañez Peñalver, manager of Alicante Golf, believes it is
necessary to carry out this type of public-private promotional event
for the good and future of the golf sector in Costa Blanca.

Mérito al Golf; y para hacerle entrega de un regalo muy especial; un
cuadro de 110 cm x 80 cm compuesto por 1.500 imágenes.

Andrés M. Torrubia Arenas volverá a presidir durante los próximos
cuatro años el golf de la Comunidad Valenciana. En la asamblea
que tuvo lugar el sábado 15 de diciembre fue votado por unanimi-
dad como presidente de la Federación de Golf de la Comunidad Va-
lenciana (FGCV) por todos los miembros de la asamblea general,
que está formada por representantes de las tres provincias: Alican-
te, Valencia y Castellón.
El reelegido presidente, tiene muy claro cual es el papel del golf
en la actualidad: Es un motor económico que genera riqueza, pues-
tos de trabajo y un turismo de calidad, además de ser una fuente de
salud para todos los aficionados que lo practican. El golf colabora a
desestacionalizar el turismo algo indispensable para hoteles y em-
presas de la Comunidad Valenciana. Para Torrubia el golf es un ma-
ravilloso aliado del turismo.
La Escuela Municipal de Golf de Elche
Uno de los grandes proyectos de Andrés Torrubia es la promoción
del golf con escuelas de golf municipales, en la Escuela de Elche,
además de contar ya con más de 350 nuevas licencias, ha sido re-
cientemente elegida como sede del Campeonato de España de Fe-
deraciones Autonómicas de Pitch & Putt que se celebrará los días
19 y 20 de octubre de 2019. Todo un acontecimiento para este diver-
tido campo de nueve hoyos en el municipio ilicitano.
Andrés M. Torrubia Arenas will once again preside over the Golf
Federation of the Valencian Community for the next four years. In
the assembly that took place on Saturday, December 15th, he was
voted unanimously as President of the Golf Federation of the Valen-
cian Community (FGCV) by all the members of the general assem-
bly, which is made up of representatives of the three provinces: Ali-
cante, Valencia and Castellón.
The re-elected president is very clear about the role of golf today:
It is an economic engine that generates wealth, jobs and quality
tourism, as well as being a source of healthy exercise for all those
who practice it. Golf helps to deseasonalize tourism, which is es-
sential for hotels and companies in the Valencian Community. For
Torrubia golf is a wonderful ally of tourism.
The Municipal School of Golf in Elche
One of the great projects of Andrés Torrubia is the promotion of golf
with municipal golf schools. At the School in Elche, in addition to
having more than 350 new licenses, it has recently been chosen as
the venue for the Spanish Autonomous Federations Pitch & Putt
Championship to be held on 19th and 20th October 2019. A fun for
all, nine-hole course event in the municipality of Elche.

José Jover Pérez-Almagro, presidente de la Federación de Golf de
la Región de Murcia (FGRM), no ocultó su satisfacción al presentar
a los nuevos integrantes de la Escuela Oficial de FGRM que apun-
tan al crecimiento integral del golf en la Región, como indicaba en la
presentación, además de una escuela de golf es una escuela de la
vida, y en el futuro, el golf agradecerá a todos estos chicos y chicas
su esfuerzo y dedicación.
El objetivo de la Escuela Oficial de la FGRM es el desarrollo de
los golfistas desde temprana edad y el estímulo para el fortaleci-
miento de las escuelas de golf de los clubes asociados a la FGRM”,
enfatizó Jover en su discurso. “Es nuestra misión – agregó - brindar
a toda la comunidad de golf regional, tanto jugadores, profesores y
directivos, la asistencia para el desarrollo deportivo y general de
nuestro deporte”. De esta forma, y a partir de este año, los alumnos
además de entrenarse con los maestros oficiales de la Escuela, po-
drán recibir clases de sus maestros en su club de origen dentro del
programa de la Escuela de Golf 2019.
Jover también tuvo unas palabras de reconocimiento a tres inte-
grantes del equipo regional que no pudieron estar en la presenta-
ción de la Escuela, Patricia Garre, actualmente becada en la Blume
y a Raquel Olmos que está en EE.UU. becada por la Universidad
de Arizona State y María Teresa García en Louisiana EE.UU, dejan-
do patente que el golf puede dar mucho en el desarrollo personal
de los jugadores y jugadoras.
Antonio Parrón, director técnico de la Escuela de la FGRM, nos
dejó un mensaje que resume el espíritu del golf: “En esta Escuela lo

sport.”
In this way, and starting this year, the students, in addition to train-
ing with the official teachers of the School, will be able to receive
classes from their teachers in their home club within the program of
the 2019 Golf School.
Jover also had some words of appreciation for members of the re-
gional team who could not be present, Patricia Garre, currently a
scholarship holder at the Blume and Raquel Olmos who is in the US
with a scholarship from Arizona State University and Maria Teresa
Garcia in Louisiana, USA, making clear that golf can give much in
the personal development of all players.

Antonio Parrón, technical director of the School of the FGRM, left
us a message that sums up the spirit of golf: “In this School the im-
portant thing is the commitment of everyone. 1, the players, who do
not come just to have fun, but to grow golf-wise, understanding their
obligations, the rules and procedures, in order to gain the most ben-
efit. 2, the families, the family is fundamental. It is one more club in
the golf bag, especially for teenagers who have a lot to learn and im-
prove. To support them with everything they need, the effort, the sac-
rifice and the structural requirements of golf and these are not small
things ..., the family also has to take the pressure off the kids: The
parents should take away the pressure from the children to get a re-
sult and a victory. It’s a sport where they play 100 and win 1. The im-
portant thing is not that you win 1, but that you play 100. The children
come to learn not to win. Win if you can but the family has to under-
stand that they cannot put pressure on their child like Tiger Woods in
the USA, and Sergio Garcia in Spain. We must create good players,
who hit the ball well ... but there is another more important goal: to
form good people.”
These are the members of the School this year, but in the coming
months there may be new players, who by their own merits, or by
recommendations from their club teachers can be part of this team
in the Region. Among the main objectives of the FGRM this year is
to promote the development of the golf schools of the associated
clubs with the aim of attracting new players and golf enthusiasts.

ben ser inflexibles para que todo de su fruto. Dos, el de las familias.
La familia es fundamental. Es un palo más en la bolsa de golf, so-
bre todo en los adolescentes que tienen mucho que aprender y me-
jorar. Acompañar con todo lo que necesita, esfuerzo, sacrificio y las
necesidades estructurales propias del golf y que no son un tema
menor…, “la familia también tiene que quitarle la presión a los chi-
cos: Los papás deben sacarle a los chicos la presión de un resulta-
do y una victoria. Es un deporte donde juegan 100 y gana uno. Lo
importante no es que gane uno, sino que jueguen cien. Los chicos
vienen a aprender no a ganar. Gana el que puede. La familia tiene
que entender que no puede presionar a su hijo. Tiger Woods hay
uno en EEUU, Sergio García, uno en España. Debemos sacar bue-
nos jugadores, que le peguen bien a la pelota… pero hay otro obje-
tivo más importante: formar buenas personas”.
Estos son los integrantes de la Escuela de este año, pero en los
próximos meses puede haber nuevas incorporaciones de aquellos
jugadores que por méritos propios, o por recomendaciones de sus
maestros de club puedan formar parte de este equipo de la Región.
Entre los grandes objetivos de la FGRM para este año está el pro-
mover el desarrollo de las escuelas de golf de los clubes asociados
con la finalidad de captar a nuevos jugadores y aficionados al golf.

La fiesta del golf en la Costa Blanca terminó con un vibrante des-
empate entre Miguel Ángel Jiménez, ídolo local, ganador esta mis-
ma temporada de dos majors en el Circuito Senior y Paul Streeter,
jugador inglés, novato este año en el Staysure Tour. El sol, un cam-
po en condiciones espectaculares y numeroso público a lo largo de
toda la semana fueron la conjunción perfecta con la constelación de
estrellas que se dieron cita para disputar el Costa Blanca Benidorm
Senior Masters.
Streeter que llegaba al hoyo 18 con un golpe de ventaja, enviaba
su driver de salida al búnker, desde ahí se fueron encadenando los
errores hasta firmar el bogey final que dejaban su vuelta en 67 gol-
pes, empatando con Miguel Ángel Jiménez en -14. Todo se tenía
que resolver en un cara a cara, más emoción imposible...
Sin embargo, cuando el broche de oro estaba más cerca, Paul
Streeter y Miguel Ángel Jiménez disputándose el triunfo, el inglés
pegó el golpe del día desde 156 metros, dejando la bola a menos
de un metro de bandera ante el asombro del público que abarrotaba
las inmediaciones del green del hoyo 18 de Meliã Villaitana. Miguel
Ángel Jiménez falló su tiro por la derecha y se dejó un putt de más

The golf party on the Costa Blanca ended with a vibrant play off be-
tween local idol Miguel Ángel Jiménez, winner of two majors this
season on the Senior Circuit and Paul Streeter, the English rookie
player this year on the Staysure Tour. The sun, a course in spectac-
ular condition and large crowds of spectators throughout the week
were in perfect conjunction with the constellation of stars that met to
play the Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior Masters.
Streeter who reached hole 18 with a 1 stroke lead, sent his drive
into the bunker, from there a chain of errors led to a final bogey that
left his score at 67, tying with Miguel Ángel Jiménez on -14. Every-
thing had to be resolved in a face-to-face play off, more excitement ...
Paul Streeter and Miguel Ángel Jiménez contested the victory with
the trophy in sight, in a playoff. The Englishman hit the shot of the day
from 156 metres, leaving the ball less than a metre from the flag to
the amazement of the crowd that packed the green of the 18th hole at
Meliã Villaitana. Miguel Ángel Jiménez missed his shot to the right
and left a putt of more than five metres. His birdie attempt skimmed
the hole. Streeter however, was able to sink his birdie and become the
first winner of the Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior Masters.

“No tenía presión, soy un rookie y Miguel es un campeón de Major,
decidí pegar la madera 3 para quitar el búnker del juego, tenía yardas
perfectas esta vez y he pegado un gran tiro”, comentaba el inglés ga-
nador de otro torneo del Staysure Tour esta misma temporada.
“Lo primero es darle la enhorabuena al ganador porque ha juga-
do muy bien, tuvo un gran comienzo. Por mi parte estoy satisfecho
con mi tarjeta de -7, aunque tenía que haber hecho -9”, comentaba
Jiménez al término de su vuelta con una mezcla de sensaciones
agridulces. “Ha sido una semana magnifica, con un tiempo impre-
sionante, el campo en magníficas condiciones, hay que darle la en-
horabuena a Meliã Villaitana por cómo ha estado todo y lo bien que

Murcia Region International Airport opened, a new permanent infrastructure for tourists
and an economic boost for the Region
La Región de Murcia ya vuela. Con esas palabras y con gran
agradecimiento a los esfuerzos realizados hasta su puesta en mar-
cha, el presidente de la Región de Murcia, Fernando López Miras,
bautizó la apertura del Aeropuerto Internacional Región de Murcia
situado en la pedanía murciana de Corvera. Un acto de inaugura-
ción que corrió a cargo del Rey Felipe VI, y al que ha asistieron más
de 500 invitados de diferentes ámbitos políticos y económicos de la
Comunidad.
Estas nuevas instalaciones suponen un importante paso para el
futuro de la Región de Murcia, como decía el presidente de la Co-
munidad, Fernando López Miras: «El aeropuerto es la plataforma
definitiva para nuestro despegue turístico y económico, que permiti-
rá crear más trabajo, más oportunidades, y abriremos la puerta al
progreso y al desarrollo».

great thanks for the efforts made by everyone involved, the president
of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, opened the Murcia
Region International Airport located in the hamlet of Corvera, Murcia.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by King Felipe VI, and
was attended by more than 500 guests from different political and
economic areas of the Community.
“These new facilities represent an important step for the future of
the Region of Murcia,” said the president of the Community, Fernando
López Miras, “The airport is the definitive platform for our tourist and
an economic boost, which will allow us to create more work, more op-
portunities and will open the door to progress and development.”
King Felipe VI presided over the opening of the International Air-
port of Murcia in Corvera. The monarch arrived at the airfield in his
own plane and was received by the Minister of Public Works, José
Luis Ábalos; the President of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López

propio avión y fue recibido por el ministro de Fomento, José Luis
Ábalos; el presidente de la Región de Murcia, Fernando López Mi-

Tras el recibimiento, el Rey visitó las instalaciones del aeropuerto
de la mano de Mariano Menor, director general del aeródromo, y
con Patricio Valverde, consejero de Fomento de la Comunidad Autó-
noma de la Región de Murcia, con los que compartió los datos más
relevantes del aeropuerto y los diferentes detalles sobre la adjudica-
ción a Aena de este aeropuerto.
El evento finalizó con el descubrimiento de una placa conmemo-
rativa del acto de inauguración que lleva inscrito la fecha y nombre
del aeropuerto.
El avión FR1824, de la compañía Ryanair, procedente del aero-
puerto inglés de East Midlands, fue el primer avión de pasaje-
ros que aterrizaba en el nuevo aeropuerto de la Región de Mur-
cia. Este vuelo llegó con 25 minutos de antelación con el
horario previsto. Como manda la tradición, el avión fue “bautiza-
do” por varios camiones de bomberos que simboliza un buen
augurio para el futuro prometedor de estas instalaciones.
The Ryanair flight no. FR1824, from the English East Midlands
airport, was the first passenger plane to land at the new airport
in the Region of Murcia. This flight arrived 25 minutes ahead of
schedule. As tradition dictates, the plane was “baptised” by sev-
eral fire trucks that symbolises a good omen for the promising
future of these facilities.

12 destinos de la Unión EuropeaLa Región de Murcia tiene una privilegiada situación geográfica y es
un perfecto escenario para vivir y visitar, pero necesitaba de unas
infraestructuras acordes para desarrollar todo su potencial económi-
co y turístico. El Aeropuerto Internacional Región de Murcia enlaza
con 12 destinos de tres países de la Unión Europea (nueve del
Reino Unido, dos de Bélgica y uno de Irlanda) operados por las
aerolíneas Ryanair, EasyJet y Tuifly.
En el segundo trimestre del año aumentarán los destinos a España
y Europa. Ya hay confirmados vuelos a Asturias, Manchester,
Leeds y se abre también al mercado nórdico con 4 ciudades de No-
ruega (Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger y Trondheim). También están ya a
la venta los billetes para volar a Praga o Moscú a partir de mayo. El
aeropuerto cuenta con una franja de 24 horas, pudiendo realizar 16
operaciones cada 60 minutos. Se estima que anualmente podrán
llegar a la Región 5 millones de turistas a través de esta nueva in-
fraestructura.
Según un estudio de impacto socioeconómico y turístico elabora-
do por el Colegio de Economistas en colaboración con la Universi-
dad Politécnica de Cartagena, el aeropuerto generará alrededor de
900 millones a la economía regional, aumentando más de 3 puntos
el PIB regional, y más de 19.000 nuevos empleos en 15 años. En el
primer año de funcionamiento, se estima que supondrá 270 millo-
nes de PIB y la generación de 5.600 empleos. Sin duda un revulsivo
para el crecimiento de la Región de Murcia.

After the reception, the King was given a tour of the airport by
Mariano Menor, general director of the airport, and with Patricio Val-
verde, councillor for development of the Autonomous Community of
the Region of Murcia, with whom he shared the most relevant infor-
mation regarding the airport and the details on the award to Aena
of this airport.
The event ended with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque
with the date of the opening ceremony and name of the airport in-
scribed.

The Region of Murcia has a privileged geographical position and is
a perfect setting in which to live and visit, but it needed some suita-
ble infrastructure to develop its economic and tourist potential. The
Region of Murcia International Airport links with 12 destinations in
three countries of the European Union (nine from the United King-
dom, two from Belgium and one from Ireland) operated by Ryanair,
EasyJet and TUI fly airlines.
In the second quarter of the year, destinations to Spain and Eu-
rope will increase. There are already confirmed flights to Asturias,
Manchester, Leeds and also openings to the Nordic market with 4
cities in Norway (Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim). Tickets
are also now on sale to fly to Prague or Moscow starting in May. The
airport is open 24-hours with 16 operations per hour. It is estimated
that annually 5 million tourists will be able to reach the Region
through this new infrastructure.
According to a study of the socio-economic and tourism impact,
prepared by the College of Economists in collaboration with the Pol-
ytechnic University of Cartagena, the airport will generate about
€900 million to the regional economy, increasing the regional GDP
by more than 3 points, and more than 19,000 new jobs in 15 years.
In the first year of operation, it is estimated that it will represent

El Limonar International School Villamartín, ubicado en San Miguel de Salinas, es un colegio internacional de cu-rriculum británico para niños y niñas de 3 a 18 años que, desde el presente curso, puede añadir a su carta de pre-sentación el contar con las mejores instalaciones de In-fantil de la Vega Baja. Hablamos con Chris Eversden, Di-rector Ejecutivo de ELIS Villamartín y ELIS Murcia, y con el arquitecto José Picó, CEO de Redex y responsable del proyecto, sobre esta innovadora apuesta, presentada ofi-cialmente el pasado mes de noviembre ante numerosas autoridades y medios de comunicación.
¿Cómo surge esta iniciativa?
Chris Eversden: El Limonar International School (ELIS) es parte de
Cognita, el grupo educativo internacional de mayor innovación y vi-
sión de futuro del mundo en la actualidad. Tenemos el deber de am-
pliar los límites de la oferta educativa para avanzar constantemente
en la implementación de métodos modernos de enseñanza y apren-
dizaje. Un elemento clave para ello es asegurar que contamos con
las instalaciones idóneas para que dicho aprendizaje prospere.
José Picó: Desde el momento en que Justine Brown y Chris Evers-
den, responsables de Cognita Spain y El Limonar International

mos que habíamos encontrado al cliente que llevábamos tiempo es-

El Limonar International School Villamartin, located in San Miguel de Salinas, is an international school that follows the British curriculum for children from age 3 to 18 years. Already a school with high standards and qual-ity facilities, the recent opening of a new Early Years fa-cility means the school can now add that they boast the best facilities in the Vega Baja. We spoke with Chris Eversden, Executive Director of ELIS Villamartín and ELIS Murcia and with the architect José Picó, CEO of Redex who is responsible for this innovative Early Years project which, last November was officially presented to the media and regional authorities.
How did this initiative for the new facility come about?
Chris Eversden: El Limonar International School (ELIS) is part of
Cognita, the world’s most innovative and forward-thinking interna-
tional education group today. We have a duty to expand the limits of
education and to constantly advance in the implementation of mod-
ern teaching and learning methods. A key element for this is to en-
sure that we have the ideal facilities for such learning to thrive.
José Picó: From the moment that Justine Brown and Chris Eversden,
responsible for Cognita Spain and El Limonar International School,
contacted us about the transformation and pedagogical innovation
of the new spaces for children at the ELIS Villamartín school, we
knew that we had found the client we had been waiting for. An edu-
cational institution which understands that space is “the third teach-
er”. From this, we made the following motto: “If the space excites, the
child learns ... and the teacher is rewarded”.

¿Qué valor tiene, en cuanto a educación se refiere, el poder con-
tar con estas instalaciones tan innovadoras?
C.E: El innovador diseño de estas nuevas instalaciones de Infantil pro-
porciona un ambiente relajante e integrador que hace que los niños
más pequeños se sientan cómodos, seguros y felices para que pue-
da tener lugar el aprendizaje. En nuestro modelo curricular, el apren-
dizaje es mejor cuando está dirigido por los propios niños a través de
la exploración y el juego. El papel de los maestros y adultos es dise-
ñar las oportunidades necesarias y guiar a los niños a explorar y
aprender en nuestros dos idiomas de instrucción: inglés y español.
J.P: Lamentablemente, la mayoría de los espacios de aprendizaje
que se diseñan y se construyen actualmente mantienen las bases
pedagógicas y diseños creados durante la primera revolución indus-
trial . Si queremos formar niños creativos, flexibles, colaborativos y
preparados para triunfar y ser felices, requerimos de espacios creati-
vos, versátiles, humanos y cooperativos. Este es el caso.
¿Cómo ha recibido la comunidad de padres vuestra apuesta por
un modelo educativo más adaptado a los nuevos tiempos?
C.E: ¡Esa es una pregunta fácil de responder! Todos los padres quie-
ren que sus hijos se sientan felices en el colegio. Por supuesto, esto
es aún más importante cuando comienzan la escuela por primera
vez a los tres o cuatro años. Si los niños están contentos al venir al
colegio y también al salir de él, y con ganas de compartir sus nuevas
experiencias con sus padres, entonces nuestro modelo está funcio-
nando bien.
What is the value, in terms of education, in having these inno-
vative facilities?
C.E: The innovative design of these new Infant facilities provides a
relaxing and integrating environment that makes younger children
feel comfortable, safe and happy, so that learning can take place. In
our curricular model, learning is best when directed by the children
themselves through exploration and play. The teachers and adults’
role is to create the necessary opportunities and guide children to
explore and learn in our two languages of instruction: English and
Spanish.
J.P: Unfortunately, most of the learning spaces that are currently de-
signed and constructed maintain the pedagogical bases and de-
signs created during the first industrial revolution. If we want our chil-
dren to be creative, flexible, collaborative and prepared to succeed,
and to be happy, we require creative, versatile, human and co-oper-
ative spaces. This is the objective.
How have the community of parents received this investment in
an educational model more adapted to modern times?
C.E: That’s an easy question to answer! All parents want their chil-
dren to feel happy at school. Of course, this is even more important
when they start school for the first time at 3 or 4 years old. If the chil-
dren are happy to come to school and want to share their new expe-
riences with their parents when they go home, then our model is
working well.

ELIS pertenece al grupo Cognita Schools, líder mundial del sec-
tor educativo. ¿Qué significado tiene el hecho de pertenecer a
un grupo educativo para el colegio y sus familias?

Preparations begin for the VII Event
La VI Edición del GNK Golf Tour concluyó el pasado 24 de noviem-
bre de 2018 en el campo de Mar Menor con una Gran Final. Una
competición que ha calado hondo en el espíritu competitivo ‘ama-
teur’ de los jugadores de la Región de Murcia y Alicante. Más de me-
dio millar de golfistas aficionados siguieron esta prueba, que arran-
có en Saurines Golf (en abril), y siguió por los campos de: Hacienda
Riquelme Golf (en mayo), Alhama Signature (en julio), La Torre Golf
(en julio) y El Valle Golf (en septiembre) los otros escenarios del cir-
cuito de 2018. Estos recorridos Nicklaus Design despiertan un gran
interés y respeto entre los jugadores locales y foráneos. Campos con
diferentes dificultades y atractivos donde disputarse los fabulosos
premios y regalos que aportaron los patrocinadores del circuito.
Empresas como: el concesionario Premiercar con sus marcas Ja-
guar –Land Rover, la Joyería y Relojería Pedro Luis Olivares con
una de sus marcas TAG-Heuer, GFA Real Estate, Agronimer, Cam-
poés, Dandy Moto Yamaha, Estrella Levante, Evian, Fitoverde, GH

La gran final del circuito GNK Golf Tour 2018 concluyó con un
brindis final propuesto por GH Mumm, con todos los jugadores y la
organización del evento. Después de los múltiples brindis, abrazos y

Golf de GNK, nos sentamos con él para que nos relatara su opinión

The VI Event of the GNK Golf Tour concluded on November 24,
2018 on the Mar Menor course with a Grand Final. A competition
that has penetrated deep into the competitive spirit of the ‘amateur’
players from Murcia and Alicante regions. More than 500 amateur
golfers played in this competition, which started at Saurines Golf (in
April), and continued through the stages of the 2018 circuit at: Haci-
enda Riquelme Golf (in May), Alhama Signature (in July), La Torre
Golf (in July) and El Valle Golf (in September). These Nicklaus de-
sign courses create great interest and respect among local and for-
eign players who are attracted by the different difficulties of the
courses and the fabulous prizes and gifts that the sponsors of the
circuit contributed.
Companies like: Premiercar dealership with its Jaguar -Land Rov-
er brands, Pedro Luis Olivares Jewellery and Watchmaking with one
of its brands Tag-Heuer, GFA Real Estate, Agronimer, Campoés,
Dandy Moto Yamaha, Estrella Levante, Evian, Fitoverde, GH Mumm,
Punta Este, Radio Marca, Cyan Dental, NikeGolf, Srixon and Wilson

The grand final of the GNK Golf Tour 2018 circuit concluded with a
final toast proposed with GH Mumm, with all the players and the or-
ganisers of the event. After the many toasts, hugs and thanks from
the players towards GNK’s Golf Director, Antonio Solano, we sat
down with him to ask his opinion about the circuit and to get some
exclusive scoops ...

Antonio, you have seen the emotion with which all the players
congratulated you...
Yes, the truth is that everything has gone very well and we are very
happy. The players, the sponsors and everything in general. At GNK
we work hard so that everyone can ultimately enjoy their favourite
sport and their “valuable” time.
I imagine that you are already preparing the next event, can you
tell us anything?
(Laughs ...) You’re looking for an exclusive ... We have just finished
this event and you are asking me about the next one. Yes, of course,
in this type of circuit we work throughout the year ... not only prepar-
ing the courses so they are in optimal condition but also looking for
and trying to improve everything we can think of. For next year we
will maintain the same type of competition, a stableford with three
categories, general rankings and the same number of competitions,
six in total with the Grand Final at El Valle.
Do you already have the dates?
(More laughter ...) Of course ... the management of four courses re-
quires long-term planning. In GNK we know everything that will hap-
pen in the year ahead, reservations, national championships, etc ...
Everything is planned and even then, events will always arise which
we have to accommodate. Next year we will also have six competi-
tions, on April 27th at El Valle Golf, on May 18th at Hacienda
Riquelme Golf, on June 22nd at Alhama Signature, July 20th at La
Torre Golf, September 7th at Hacienda Riquelme Golf and the Grand
Final of the circuit on 23rd November at El Valle Golf.
You are repeating two courses?
The players requested that we repeat two courses, as not everyone
could play them as they were full, with waiting lists. One of the pur-
poses of this circuit is that all players can play all our courses.
Are you going to repeat the “Hole in One”?
No doubt yes. It has been a great incentive this year ... Premiercar
has put up a Jaguar X-Pace valued at more than € 60,000 for some-
one to win. As much for the brand as for the course it would be very
special if someone did win this prize. I also remember that over the
two days of the hole in one competition, two “Hole in Ones” were
Antonio, has visto la emoción con la que te felicitaban todos los

Si la verdad que todo ha salido muy bien, estamos muy contentos.
Jugadores, patrocinadores todos en general. En GNK trabajamos
muy duro para que todo el mundo disfrute de su deporte favorito y
en definitiva de su “preciado” tiempo.
Imagino que ya estáis preparando la siguiente edición, ¿nos
puedes adelantar algo?
(Risas...) Estás buscando alguna exclusiva... Termina esta edición y
ya me preguntas por la siguiente. Sí, claro, en este tipo de circuito
trabajamos durante todo el año... no solo preparando los campos
para que estén en unas condiciones óptimas sino también buscando
e intentando mejorar todo aquello que pensamos que se puede ha-
cer mejor. Para el año que viene mantendremos el mismo tipo de
competición, stableford tres categorías indistintas, con una clasifica-
ción general y en mismo número de pruebas, seis en total con la
Gran Final de El Valle.
¿Ya tienes las fechas?
(Más risas...) Por supuesto... la gestión de cuatro campos requiere
de una planificación a largo plazo. En GNK sabemos todo lo que va
a pasar a un año vista, reservas, campeonatos nacionales, etc...
Todo está previsto y aún así, siempre surgen eventos a los cuales
les tenemos que dar cabida. El año que viene también haremos seis
pruebas, el 27 abril El Valle Golf, el 18 mayo en Hacienda Riquelme
Golf, el 22 junio en Alhama Signature, 20 julio La Torre Golf, 7 sep-
tiembre Hacienda Riquelme Golf y la Gran Final del circuito el 23
noviembre en el El Valle Golf.
¿Repetís dos campos?
Sí, lo de repetir era algo que demandaban los jugadores, algunos de
ellos no pudieron jugar en algún campo por el lleno que tuvimos en
todos, listas de espera incluidas. Una de las finalidades de este cir-
cuito es que todos los aficionados al golf puedan conocer nuestros
campos.
¿También vais a repetir los “Hole in One”
Sin duda que si. Ha sido un gran aliciente este año... Premiercar ha
puesto ese Jaguar F-Pace de más de 60.000€ para que alguien se

cial que alguien se llevara este premio. Además te recuerdo que en
las dos jornadas de hoyo en uno se hicieron dos “Hole in One” pero
no en el hoyo correcto...
En la próxima edición si que te puedo adelantar que tendremos
tres pruebas con dos “Hole in One”, un premio será una Yamaha

To add to the new rules of golf
that we must learn, to play on
the course, including those of
courtesy and protocol (some-
times the least put into practice),
we must add other basic knowl-
edge when it comes to playing
this sport. Here we talk about
the formats of competition.
The most usual and recognis-
able is the stableford handicap.
For a long time it has been one
of the most used formats espe-
cially in Club and Social tourna-
ments, because by its scoring
system any player has (and in
particular high handicaps) a
greater chance of winning the
competition. The stableford was
imposed as a corrective meas-
ure because it shortened the
real differences with the better
players. On the other hand,
stroke play –the stroke game–
rewards the better players (logi-
cally the lowest handicaps), so
its use is limited to profession-
als, elite amateurs, regional
championships, etc. and not in
social tournaments where the
trophy would always be won by
the same player (boring, right?).
However, there are many more
formats but we are only review-
ing the most popular. Before
starting, remember that a team
or side in golf can be made up
of one, two or more players who
are partners. In the event of a
single player the most common
format is:
Stableford Handicap. The for-
mat of the game is where each
hole is scored in relation to the
par: one point for a bogey, two
for a par, three for a birdie, four
for an eagle. When it is not pos-
sible to score on a hole with the
players shots, the ball is picked
up. It is the only format in which
the highest score wins. The sta-
bleford format is currently used
a lot in local championships be-

A la suma de las nuevas reglas
de golf que hay que conocer
para moverse en el campo, in-
cluidas las de cortesía y proto-
colo –a veces las menos pues-
tas en práctica–, hay que
añadirles otros conocimientos
básicos a la hora de ponernos a
jugar a este deporte. Hablamos
de la modalidades de competi-
ción.
La más habitual y reconocible
es la stableford hándicap. Desde
hace mucho tiempo es una de
las modalidades más utilizadas
sobre todo en el entorno de los
clubes y torneos sociales, ya
que por su sistema de puntua-
ción cualquier jugador tiene (y
en concreto los hándicaps altos)
una mayor probabilidad de po-
der ganar la competición. El sta-
bleford se impuso como medida
correctora ya que acortaba las
diferencias reales con los mejo-
res jugadores. En cambio, stroke
play –el juego por golpes– pre-
mia a quien es el mejor (lógica-
mente los hándicaps más bajos)
por lo que su uso se circunscri-
be a las citas profesionales,
amateurs de élite, campeonatos
territoriales, etc. y no en torneos
sociales donde seguramente
siempre recaería el trofeo en el
mismo jugador (aburrido ¿no?).
Pero hay muchas más modali-
dades que repasaremos y, otras
tantas que no, por su poca utili-
zación. Antes de empezar, re-
cordar que un equipo o bando
en golf puede estar constituido
de un jugador o dos o más ju-
gadores que son compañeros.
En el caso de que el bando sea
de un solo jugador las modalida-
des más comunes son:
Stableford Hándicap. Fórmula
de juego en la que en cada
hoyo se puntúa con relación al
par: Un punto por el bogey, dos
por el par, tres por el birdie,
cuatro por el eagle. Cuando no

se ha podido terminar en los
golpes que valen para la pun-
tuación, se recoge la bola. Es la
única fórmula en la que gana
quien suma más alto. El stable-
ford se utiliza actualmente mu-
cho en campeonatos locales
porque es una fórmula menos
lenta que otras y en la que se
permite levantar la bola.
El jugador de esta modalidad
recibe como golpes extra la to-
talidad de su hándicap de juego
(con la aplicación del slope del
campo incluida), adjudicándose
los puntos de ventaja en los ho-
yos más difíciles del recorrido
(hándicap de los hoyos). En el
caso de tener el jugador hándi-
cap de juego 10 el reparto de
los puntos se hará en los 10 ho-
yos más difíciles, es decir del
hándicap 1 al hándicap 10 del
recorrido. En el resto de hoyos,
del 11 al 18, no tendrá golpes
de ventaja.
Medal Play/Stroke Play Hándi-
cap. El jugador deberá terminar
todos los hoyos y recibe la totali-
dad del hándicap de juego co-
rregido con el que participa en
la prueba, que se restará de la
suma de los golpes que haya
dado en cada vuelta estipulada
para obtener el resultado final
de la misma.
En el caso de ser el jugador
hándicap (x), su hándicap de
juego se sumará al total de los
golpes que haya dado en cada
vuelta estipulada para obtener
el resultado final de la misma.
Ganador es el competidor que
juega la vuelta o vueltas estipu-
ladas en el menor número de
golpes netos obtenidos.

aquel que gane el mayor núme-
ro de hoyos de los estipulados.
Eclectic Hándicap. Prueba si-
milar a la scratch pero en la que
cada jugador participa con su
hándicap de juego, dividido por
el numero de vueltas jugadas,
por lo que su resultado se obtie-
ne comparando los golpes netos
en lugar de los brutos.
Eclectic Scratch. Única modali-
dad de juego en pruebas indivi-
duales en la que cada jugador
juega dos vueltas o más al reco-
rrido, puntuando para el resultado
definitivo, el mejor logrado en
cada hoyo en las vueltas jugadas.
Dado que hay que mejorar los
mismos hoyos se deberán man-
tener las mismas posiciones de
las banderas y la barras de sali-
da, durante todos los días de que
consta la prueba.
Pruebas por parejasCada bando o equipo está for-
mado por dos jugadores que
formarán una pareja. Las moda-
lidades más usadas en el forma-
to pareja son las siguientes:
Foursome. Cada pareja juega
una sola bola, alternando los
dos jugadores que la forman las
salidas y los golpes. Cuando la
prueba esté estipulada a una
jornada cada pareja recibirá la
semisuma de los hándicaps de
juego corregidos completos de
cada uno de sus jugadores.
Cuatro Bolas (Four Ball). Cada
jugador que forme una pareja
juega con su propia bola, pun-
tuando el mejor resultado de los
dos en cada hoyo.Cada jugador
de la pareja juega con las 3/4
partes de su hándicap de juego
corregido, adjudicándose los
puntos en cada hoyo según el
Baremo Local de Hándicap.
Greensome. Cada uno de los
jugadores que forman una pare-
ja ejecutan el golpe de salida en
cada uno de los 18 hoyos, conti-
nuándose el juego con una de
las dos bolas, libremente elegi-
da por la pareja, y alternando
posteriormente los golpes hasta
terminar cada hoyo.
Greensome-Chapman. Cada
bando lo constituyen dos partici-
pantes. Los dos jugadores de
cada bando ejecutan con su
bola la salida de cada hoyo y
juegan, ambas, el segundo gol-
pe con la bola de su compañero,
para después de ejecutados es-
tos segundos golpes, continuar
el juego con una de las dos bo-
las –libremente elegida– alter-
nando los golpes.
Copa Canadá. Cada jugador
que forma una pareja juega con
su propia bola, siendo el resulta-

more rounds on the course. The

achieved in each of the 18 holes
from all the rounds played.
Since the idea is to improve on
the same holes, the flags and
tee boxes must be maintained in
the same positions during all the
days of the competition.
Pairs Competition.Each side or team consists of
two players who will form a pair.
The most used pairs formats are
the following:
Foursome. Each pair plays a
single ball, alternating between
the two players from the drive to
the green. On the day of the
competition each pair will re-
ceive half of their combined
handicaps.
Four Ball. Each player in the
pairs plays their own ball, taking
the best score of the two in each
hole. Each player of the pair
plays with 3/4 of his handicap,
winning the points on each hole
according to the Stroke Index.
Greensome. Each of the play-
ers forming a pair plays their tee
shot on each of the 18 holes.
The game continues with choos-
ing one of the two balls played,
then the players alternate the
shots until finishing each hole.
Greensome-Chapman. Each
side is made up of two players.
Both players hit their drive, then
they each play the others drive
as the second shot. The best of
the second shots is then select-
ed and from thereon the two
players play alternate shots with
the one ball.
Canada Cup. Each player that
forms a pair plays with his own
ball and his handicap. The result
of each hole is the sum of the
score of each of the players that
form the team.
Scramble. This is a competition
for teams of 2, 3 or 4 players. All
players drive on each hole with
their own ball. The next stroke,
the best ball is chosen from the
team and all the players play
again from that point, and so on
until the hole is finished.
The number of strokes, for
each hole, will be that of the first
ball of the team that enters the
hole. If the chosen ball is in the
fairway, all players will play their
next stroke by placing their ball
no further than a card away from
the chosen ball. If the chosen
ball is in the rough or in an ob-
stacle, it will be played as it lies,
dropping the remaining balls

Scramble. Es una prueba por
equipos de 2, 3 o 4 jugadores.
Todos los jugadores salen en
cada hoyo con su propia bola.
Para el siguiente golpe se elige
la bola más conveniente de las
que se hayan jugado. Desde
ese punto, vuelven a jugar todos
los jugadores y así sucesiva-
mente hasta acabar el hoyo.
El número de golpes, para
cada hoyo, será el de la primera
bola que entre en el agujero. Si
la bola escogida está en la calle,
todos los jugadores jugarán el
siguiente golpe colocando la
bola, no más lejos de una tarje-
ta, sin acercarse al hoyo, de lu-
gar donde reposaba la bola es-
cogida. Si la bola escogida está
en el rough o en un obstáculo,
está se jugará como quede, dro-
pando las restantes bolas en el
punto más próximo de donde re-
posaba aquella, sin perjudicarse
por la huella de golpe recién ju-
gado por el compañero desde la
misma posición, en cuyo caso
deberá volver a dropar. Cuando
la bola escogida está en el
green, las restantes se coloca-
rán en el lugar más próximo po-
sible a donde estaba la original.
Jugar antes o después la bola
escogida es opción libre del
equipo, pero cuando esta esté
en el rough o en un obstáculo,
no podrá ser movida. Es obliga-
torio que cada jugador juegue
su propia bola. El jugador que fi-
gure en primer lugar en la hoja
de inscripción actuará como ca-
pitán del equipo y prevalecerá
su opinión sobre la bola que se
tiene que jugar, el orden de jue-
go y cualquier otra cuestión se-
mejante.
Handicap del hoyo: Expre-
sa la dificultad teórica del
hoyo.
Si cuando hablamos de
handicap nos referimos a la
limitación ante algo, en golf,
es justo lo contrario; es el nú-
mero que expresa la cualifi-
cación del golfista para este
deporte. El handicap del ju-
gador es el histórico de sus
actuaciones, el que tiene an-
tes de la prueba.
El handicap de juego: es
aquel que se le concede al
jugador –suele ser de sólo
unas décimas de diferencia–
dependiendo de la dificultad
del campo.
Slope: El valor que se le
asigna a cada campo en el
que se valoran distintos pa-
rámetros incluido la dificultad
del campo con respecto a
otros.

rience of the player in the
sport. The handicap of the
player is the historical perfor-
mances from previous com-
petitions.
The playing handicap: The
Playing Handicap: is given to
the player by rounding up or
down his handicap to a whole
number e.g. 10.4 plays 10
and 10.5 plays 11.
Slope: The value assigned to
each course in which differ-
ent parameters are as-
sessed, including the difficul-
ty of the course with respect
to others.
