What are the rules in this classroom?

Follow directions the first time they are given.

Not Following the Rules and Procedures for our class will result in:

1st Incident – Verbal Warning

2nd Incident – Student Conference / Loss of Computer Time

3rd Incident –Teacher Detention/ Parent Call Home

4th Incident – Counselor’s Referral

5th Incident – Deans’ Referral

Bullying will not be tolerated – IT’S THE LAW!› Name calling, binder-checking, horse-

playing, hitting, fighting, etc is considered bullying.

Bullying will be an immediate Dean’s Referral

Entering the Room

Please enter quietly (designated door)

Sit in your assigned seat Write the Objective and HW (if any) in your

Agenda Take out your WARM-UP NOTEBOOK Begin warm-up (will be on projector screen)

Remain quiet until further instructions- I use this time to take attendance.

What to do if I’m not in the room…

Never enter my room if I am not in the class!

You will line up (single line) along side the wall in the hallway and wait for me.

10/10 RULE Once you have entered the class, plan on

staying at least 10 minutes before asking to use the restroom. Just don’t ask!!

Same goes for asking to use the restroom 10 minutes before the exit bell rings.

The first 10 minutes before class and the last 10 minutes are very important and I don’t want you to miss anything!

Boundaries

Do not walk behind teacher’s desk area!

Do not touch Ms. Garcia’s things! That means, do not touch items on my desk.

Hall Pass

You must always have a pass when you leave the room.

You must correctly fill out the pass and get it initialed by me before leaving the room.

I will only allow one student out at a time. You will not receive passes to your locker.

Do not use the excuse to use the restroom to go to your locker! If so, you could lose hall pass privileges for being dishonest.

Classroom Discussions

Make all questions and comments relevant to the class current discussion.

If you choose to disrupt the class with comments that are off topic, prepare to be served with a detention and a phone call home!

Disrespectful behavior will NOT

be tolerated!!

How to Save your work?

Anytime we work on the computer, you will be saving all your work in two places.

1. In your “Documents” folder.

2. Also in the “Garcia” folder. Inside that folder, you will find your class period folder and you will click on it to save your work so I can grade it.

Printing Policy When we print our work, YOU ONLY

PRINT ONCE!! ONE TIME ONLY!!If you print more than one copy, 1 point will be deducted from your assignment grade! For each extra

copy!

You must ask permission to print unless otherwise instructed by me!

Turning in Work Any work that is printed will be turned

into the appropriate basket with your period number on it.

Make sure your NAME, PERIOD NUMBER, and the DATE are on your paper – typed if the assignment is typed – hand written if the assignment is hand written.

Make sure your handwriting is legible. (Do not write super tiny!)

You must use at least a 11 point font.

No Name Basket

Anything you PRINT, you must type your name and period on it (unless otherwise stated).

Papers with no name will be placed in the NO NAME basket. It is your responsibility to check this basket if you feel you turned in an assignment and I marked it missing. At the end of each quarter, I will recycle assignments not claimed.

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK THIS!

Projects that are saved to the Garcia folder for grading MUST have your name in the file name!

Late Work Policy

If an assignment is late, past the due date, the student must complete the Late Assignment Form explaining the reason why the assignment was not completed on time, and a parent must sign the form. I will not accept ANY late work without the form! You will have 10 days of the original due date to turn in any late work.

This is stated in the Course Expectations!

After an Absence

**It is YOUR responsibility to get all the necessary make-up work - Not mine!

I am also available for Morning Lab at 8:20. Monday-Thursday unless I have a PTC (ask me the day you want to come in and I will check my calendar)

Ask a classmate to copy the Warm Up word you missed! Ask me for any work that you missed!

Grades

During the course, you will earn letter grades for assignments.

80% of your grade is Assessments – tests, quizzes, projects, final papers, etc.

20% of your grade is classwork & homework.

Technology Equipment

You are responsible for the equipment you check out!

If the equipment is damaged or broken, you may be required to replace it or pay to repair the equipment.

All equipment must be returned at the end of the period before students will be dismissed.

Checking Out Equipment

Each camera has a number on it. Check it out by writing your name,

period, time, equipment type, and number on the Technology Check Out Log.

When finished, return the equipment to it’s correct location and check it back in by writing the time your returned it on the Check Out Log.

Media Tech Hall Passes

Media Tech Hall Passes are only to be used when going out to film or take pictures for a project.

You must take a badge from the board and write your name, location of where you will be, and time you are leaving in the area next to the pass you are taking.

If working in a group, each person must have a badge.

Media Tech Hall Pass – cont. The badge must be visible at all times. You must remain in the location you stated

so I can find you if you are needed. You must stay INSIDE the school building.

› NO areas: front of the school, back of the school (bus area), field, etc.

You must not interrupt classes WHATSOEVER! › No running or being loud in the hallways.› No going into classrooms during class time to

speak to teachers or students (unless you have a written note from that teacher with permission, or permission by me).

If you are being disrespectful – I WILL KNOW!› First warning – phone call home› Second warning – Loss of priveledge

Do not waste time!› We have lots of students waiting for passes

to go outside. If you are caught wasting time, you will not be allowed outside again.

Do not ruin it for the entire class!

“Special” Procedures

Special Guests –Be on your best behavior (be prepared to answer their questions)

Safety Drills – Follow directions and stay together (horse playing will earn you a teacher’s detention and a phone call home!)

Announcements – stop and listen Substitute Teacher – Be on your best

behavior (negative report will earn you a teacher’s detention)

Lockers

There is no locker use during class time. This means once you have entered the class, you will not be allowed to go during class to access your lockers! No exceptions. Please be prepared.

GUM Gum is not allowed on campus! If you

are caught with gum, it is an automatic Dean’s Detention. No exceptions! No excuses! No second chances! Progressive discipline will be followed by the Dean’s office. Suspension and expulsion may occur if you are a habitual offender.

NEW School Tardy PolicyThe door will be locked once the bell rings.

If you are tardy, you must go to the Dean’s Office to receive a pass to enter class.

Every time you are tardy, your parent/guardian will be required to escort you to school the next morning to sign you in and verify that they are aware that you were tardy.

If your parent/guardian does not sign you in, you will be placed on RPC until your parent/guardian meets with the Dean’ regarding your tardy.

** If you are 30 minutes late to class, you will be marked absent.

Tardy Policy

Enter the class quietly. › Do not distract others.› Immediately get to work on what we are doing.

If you are tardy, you will not be allowed hall pass priveledges for that day.› That means, no restroom passes or Media Tech

passes!

How we keep our lab clean… Do not take drinks, food, or candy to your computer

area. Only bottled water allowed in class but not near computers. (Detention!)

Handle all computer equipment with care! › Do not bend screens all the way back› Do not pound of the keyboard or track pad› Do not bang mouse of the table

Do NOT touch computer wiring, move computer locations, or switch computer hardware.

Let me know immediately if something is broken.

Before you leave your computer, pick-up trash around you, take everything you came with back to your main seat, and push in your chair.

Do NOT download anything that you are not told to.

Log off at the end of each class period.› You will lose 1 point each time you do not log

off! 6th period only- Shut down computers.

Computer Use

Follow the Acceptable Use Policy! Only login as yourself. Keep your passwords private. When logging in, pay careful attention

that you have entered your username. If you enter your password on someone else’s username, you will lock that student out of their account. Pay attention!

“Net-lingo” is not appropriate for school assignments!› LOL, OMG, i, u, BRB, BFF, TTYL, Bae, cuz,

wuz, luv, JK, omw, def, cray, totes, every1, 4, b4, fav, G2G, IMHO, K, p/u, w/out, etc.

Use proper punctuation!!!!!

Exiting the Room

The teacher dismisses you, not the bell.

Do not start packing up prior to the bell. I will announce when to start packing up.

Wait until I officially dismiss you. You will exit through the exit door only.› Stay seated until I dismiss you.› Do not line up at the door.
