My research is mainly focused on Bayesian inference applied to

clinical trials, with specific attention to pre-experimental issues

connected with the design of the study. In this context, my

coauthors and I have adopted a predictive approach based on

the use of two prior distributions and we have considered

several methodological aspects arising when dealing with

sample size determination, such as, for instance, the problem of

robustness with respect to the specification of a prior

distribution, the possibility of early termination of a study, the

sequential monitoring of a trial. Most of our contributions

follow a performance-based perspective, whereas in the most

recent period we have considered a decision-theoretic

approach in the presence of multiple priors.
