Brethren, sisters, and friends,
It has been 5 years since I was in the
Oriental chair and now I find myself
stepping into the East again. First off, I
would like to say thank you for trusting
in me to lead your Lodge as Master for
a second time. Next I would like to
thank Worshipful Mike Logan for doing
an outstanding job as Worshipful
Master for the past 2 years. Little did he
know that when I asked him to “fill in”
as Senior Deacon 5 years ago, he
would wind up in the East for
consecutive terms due to the unfortunate passing of
Brother Dale Ogden. I am excited about the core of
Officers that we have this year and look forward to a
successful year both ritually and socially with events
that will fill our calendars. We currently have 9 Entered
Apprentices and 2 Fellowcrafts on our books and if all
of them fulfill requirements for advancement, we will
have a year filled with Degrees. Also, on our social
calendars, we are planning a Super Bowl Party &
Sweetheart’s & Widow’s Night for February, DeMolay
Meatloaf Dinner for April, Silent Auction/Scotch &
Wine tasting event for May, St. John’s Day Feast for
June and both the 4th of July celebration and Chili
Cookoff in July.
For those that are interested, some of the Lodge
members are planning a trip to England in 2017 for the
UGLE Tercentenary Celebration. (300th Anniversary of
the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England) If
you are interested, please let me know.
Look well to the East! ~Worshi Ron

Birthday Ode for 31st December, 1787 ~ by: Bro Robert Burns
Afar the illustrious Exile roams, Whom kingdoms on this day should
hail;
An inmate in the casual shed, On transient pity's bounty fed,
Haunted by busy memory's bitter tale!
Beasts of the forest have their savage homes,
But He, who should imperial purple wear,
Owns not the lap of earth where rests his royal head!
His wretched refuge, dark despair, While ravening wrongs and woes
pursue,
And distant far the faithful few, Who would his sorrows share.
False flatterer, Hope, away! Nor think to lure us as in days of yore:
We solemnize this sorrowing natal day,
To prove our loyal truth-we can no more,
And owning Heaven's mysterious sway,
Submissive, low adore. Ye honored, mighty Dead,
Who nobly perished in the glorious cause,
Your King, your Country, and her laws,
From great Dundee, who smiling Victory led,
And fell a Martyr in her arms,
(What breast of northern ice but warms!)
To bold Balmerino's undying name,
Whose soul of fire, lighted at Heaven's high flame,
Deserves the proudest wreath departed heroes claim:
Nor unrevenged your fate shall lie,
It only lags, the fatal hour, Your blood shall, with incessant cry,
Awake at last, th' unsparing Power;
As from the cliff, with thundering course,
The snowy ruin smokes along
With doubling speed and gathering force,
Till deep it, crushing, whelms the cottage in the vale;
So Vengeance' arm, ensanguin'd, strong,
Shall with resistless might assail,
Usurping Brunswick's pride shall lay,
And Stewart's wrongs and yours, with tenfold weight repay.
Perdition, baleful child of night!
Rise and revenge the injured right Of Stewart's royal race:
Lead on the unmuzzled hounds of hell, Till all the frighted echoes tell
The blood-notes of the chase!
Full on the quarry point their view,
Full on the base usurping crew,
The tools of faction, and the nation's curse!
Hark how the cry grows on the wind;
They leave the lagging gale behind,
Their savage fury, pitiless, they pour;
With murdering eyes already they devour;
See Brunswick spent, a wretched prey,
His life one poor despairing day,
Where each avenging hour still ushers in a worse!
Such havock, howling all abroad,
Their utter ruin bring,
The base apostates to their God, Or rebels to their King.

A very Happy New Year from the West. As we move into the new year it is hoped that it brings many new suitable candidates to become members of the Lodge. As I write article we currently have 9 Entered Apprentices and 2 Fellow Crafts. All of whom it would be fantastic to progress through the degrees this year and make 11 new Master Ma-sons. Before we can do I must remind all the candidates that, while it is our duty to see you progress to become Master Ma-sons, you also have duties and responsibilities to the Lodge. Along with the proficiency that is required to progress, candidates are also required to attend the Lodge functions, in-cluding - Stated Meetings, Social Events, etc. I would like all candidates to make it a habit to attend and if circumstances mean you are unable, it is expected that you inform one of the Officers of your absence. Candidates are also required to visit the Grand Lodge Website and complete "Candidate Learning Mod-ules". Please be sure to ask if you are unsure about how to access these, they are also a requirement for progressing. As I stated at the beginning of this article " It would be fantas-tic progress all candidates through the degrees of Freemasonary" This will make 2016 a great year.
Greetings from the South, First of all I’d like to thank everyone that made our events in 2015 happen. Our annual Christmas party was another success and I’d especially like to thank everyone that helped, including Joseph Arietelli-Newman, Michael Quintal, Dustin Moore, Tamar Maamoun, and especially Eric and Timmy Langdon. In 2016 we have a number of events lined up that I hope many of you will join us for. Looking ahead, we will continue our bi-monthly Mari-ner’s Nights on the 1st and 3rd Fridays. Some social nights in 2015 found low attendance, but regardless were always full of fun. Quoting Forest Gump, some have said that Mariner’s Night is like a box of chocolates, as you never know what you’re going to get, but is always a delight. I look forward to awesome Mariner’s Nights in 2016, which will find the return of everyone’s beloved chef, Wor. Shawn Donohue. As I lock in the nights Shawn agrees to grace us with, I may advertise, or you may have to come to all of them and be surprised, as each Mariner’s Night is special. Remember these events are open to all, so bring your friends and families. Mariner’s Nights don’t happen without the support of all of you, both for attendance and for making the night happen to begin with. As such, I’ll be looking for volunteers to cook dinner. You don’t have to be an expert to volunteer – none of us are. Many people have a specialty they are proud of, so I encour-age you to share your culinary skills. I’ll be soliciting, but if you have a night you’d like to commit to, please let me know. Looking ahead to the first part of the year: Feb 7 – Super Bowl Party Feb 17 – Sweetheart’s Night-family dinner for all the lodge Sweethearts
Check the lodge website regularly for updates @ SanPedroMasons.org. One
issue I’d like to tackle this year is the amount of food waste. On many occa-
sions I toss out science projects left in the fridge and freezer. If you have an
event (OES, JD, Demolay, private), and you have left overs that will keep a
few days that you don’t want to see go to waste, let me know so I can plan
to possibly use it. This goes for milk, salads, or whatever ingredients you
have left. Since I have the forum, allow me to advertise. This year also finds
me stepping in as President of the Beach Cities Shrine Club. We meet the
3rd Tuesday each month at 6:30, and starting with our first meeting, Janu-
ary 19, we are holding our meetings at the Whale and Ale. If you haven’t
joined the Shrine yet, what are you waiting for? I’m happy to hand out a
petition to any Master Mason. Most of us belong to Al Malaika and our
home is the Shrine Auditorium. We do great work for our Shriner’s Hospi-
tals for Children, and love to have a good time.
Come out and enjoy
some cold drinks, tasty
food and GREAT fel-
lowship at Lodge!!!
