In the next 10 years, literally billions of devices for collecting or transmitting data will be connected to the net. And this will not just affect markets such as medical, automation, transportation, energy or home automation. Whereas in the past one person was allocated locally to one machine in the factory, today there are large parts of the fac-tory with one or even no technician at all. If something fails the affected machine stops and a technician has to be directed immediately to the right point with the right spare parts and tools.

Kontron’s M2M solution increases the uptime signifi cantly. In case of failures the M2M sends an SMS to the smartphone of the technician containing a link to a page with all needed data. Clicking on this link the service technician gets every information he needs.
