Last week 29 parishioners pledged a total of $8,010 to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, for a total of 72 parishioners and $20,895. A heartfelt “thank you” to everyone who made a pledge or contribution! If you have not yet contributed, we encourage you to make a commitment decision this week. Your gift, together with those of others across our diocese, will support essential ministries and programs of our Church. Our parish goal is $49,772 and 100% partici-pation - and with your gift we can do it. Remember, no gift is too large or too small.

    ATTENTION BOYS AGE 10-18!

The Fr. Pohl Squires Circle is looking for new members. The Squires is a youth fraternity supported by the Knights of Columbus for Catholic boys between the ages of 10 and 18. Our purpose is character building. Not only that - Squires have a lot of fun, help people in need, enjoy the com-pany of friends through a variety of activities and share the common thread of our Catholic faith. The pos-itive effects of the Squires are end-less. Come see what we’re about. Call Jay Wright at 517-499-3103 or [email protected] to inquire.

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE BY BUD OZAR: Today’s gospel speaks about “unworthy wedding guests.” What makes a “worthy” guest? Presence and presents are not enough. The greatest gift we can give is support to the couple as they voyage through life together because marriage natu-rally contains within it the fields of disappointment. Think of the wed-dings you have attended. Have you been a “worthy guest?”

ALL PROCEEDS WILL BE USED TO BUY NEW BOOKS FOR THE BRONSON LIBRARY.

    LETTING FAITH FORM OUR CONSCIENCE

The Bishop has written a letter to the faithful, “Letting Faith Form Our Con-science.” The purpose of the letter is to teach, lead and sanctify, so that we are prepared to vote with a clear understanding of Catholic teaching on the moral and social issues facing us. With the letter is a supplement to “Letting Faith Form our Conscience”, steps to help form conscience in preparation for exercising our civic responsibility to vote. The letter is in the back of church for you to pick up.

The Diocese of Kalamazoo has and will continue to cooperate with the Michigan Attorney General’s investi-gation and encourages anyone with information related to misconduct to call the reporting number setup by the Michigan Attorney General’s office at 844-324-3374. WHO IS JUDGE AMY CONEY BARRETT

On Saturday, September 26, Presi-dent Trump made it official: his pick to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is U.S. Circuit Court Judge Amy Coney Barrett (ACB). Who is she? What kind of person and what kind of judge will she be? By now, you’ve probably learned she’s an adoptive mother. Her and her husband manage to both work in the legal profession while raising sev-en children, the youngest with Down syndrome. Judge Barrett seems to be universally beloved by her former Notre Dame law students and her colleagues anywhere. Even CBS gave 10 attack-free minutes to one of her former law students who sent on to become the Supreme Court’s first blind woman to serve as a law clerk. Sadly, none of that will matter, ex-cept as something to consider for pro-abortion senators in their raw politi-cal calculus. How will they decide to oppose her? And oppose her they shall, for the simple reason that she’s not a hardcore abortion activist. Most importantly for us, we see that Judge Barrett has ruled on three sep-arate cases involving abortion. She disagreed with the Abortion Indus-try’s support for aborting kids with disabilities. She disagreed they can throw the bodies of aborted babies in the trash. She said we should revisit a case that restricts the free speech rights of prolife sidewalk counselors. She doesn’t believe the U.S. Constitu-tion allows minor teens to have abor-tions without their parents’ consent. Right to Life of Michigan Prolife update ACB Profile and Factsheet

OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH IN THE U.S. CATHOLIC CHURCH and kicks off a year-long observance to help Catholics understand, value and become engaged with building a cul-ture that cherishes every human liFe. This year’s theme is “Live the Gospel of Life” in celebration of the 25th an-niversary of Pope St. John Paul II’s powerful encyclical, Evanglium Vitae.
