SATURDAY EVENING - CHANGE OF MASS TIME There has been a good bit of discussion on the time of Mass on Saturday evening. It seems that the time of 4:30 works fairly well in the winter months but it seems too early in the summer months. In order to get to Mass on Saturday evening at 4:30 you have to stop what you are doing at 3:30 or 4:00. That isn't so bad in the winter but in the summer that seems too early. So, we called the Pope, the President and several others (finance and parish councils) in authority and the decision has been made to change the time of Saturday Mass to 5:30 for the months of June, July, August and September. I am well aware of the fact that change is difficult but I believe that any two parishes who only last year changed Mass times nearly every weekend can handle this. I would ask that you give it a shot and we will see how it goes. The best way to keep up on Mass times and other information for all three parishes go to: www.btcparish.com. If you ever find any- thing not accurate please call any office and let them know. In this regard most feedback that I have been receiving is that the change from rotating Mass times from every three months to every month is working for most people. Change can be difficult but as someone once said, "the only thing we can count on is change." Keep the faith. THANK YOU - This Sunday the Bishop is coming to Jefferson and confirming 29 stu- dents from our three parishes. For many who will attend it seems like these events just happen but as anyone involved knows - these events don't just happen. Special thanks to Kelli Von Mock, Deacon Joe Twidwell, Dorothy Schmidt and Rita Ahmann. Also thanks to those who have been preparing the liturgy. It is always a blessing to have the Bishop in our presence. If you are unable to attend please pray for our students and their families. Just a little humor… A four-year-old and a six-year-old presented their mom with a houseplant for Mother’s Day. They had used their own money to buy it and she was thrilled. The older of them said with a sad face,

"There was a bouquet at the flower shop that we wanted to give you. It was real pretty but it was too expensive. It had a ribbon on it that said ‘Rest In Peace,’ and we thought it would be just perfect since you are always asking

for a little peace so that you can rest.

Please join Catholics around the world as we make this nove-na for Father Joe, Father Jeff, Father John and all priests. We will pray the above Novena for Priests each day beginning Friday, May 15th through Saturday, May 23rd (the eve of Pente-cost). Jesus, Good Shepherd, You sent us the Holy Spirit to guide Your Church and lead her faithful to You through the ministry of Your priests. Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, grant to Your priests wisdom in leading, faithfulness in teaching, and holiness in guarding Your sacred Mysteries. As they cry out with all the faithful, "Abba, Father!" may Your priests be ever more closely identified with You in Your divine Sonship and offer their own lives with You, the one saving Victim. Make them helpful brothers of one another, and understanding fathers of all Your people. On this Pentecost Sunday, renew in Your priests deeper faith, greater trust in You, childlike reliance on our Mother Mary, and unwavering fidelity to the Holy Father and his bishops. Holy Mary, intercede for your priests. St. Joseph, protect them. St. Michael, defend them. St. John Vianney, pray for them.

THE SAINTS OF MAY DIRECTED BY FR GREG TSCHAKERT

TUESDAY, MAY 12TH

Many of the saints became saints themselves by reading the lives of the saints. Their lives are in-spiring! As we respond to the Universal Call to Holi-ness, we realize we need both their example and their prayers to have the courage to be faithful.. During this day of prayer, Father Tschakert will intro-duce some of the great Saints in the month of May and share how getting to know them can inspire us to be more faithful to our own call to holiness. Beginning at 10 a.m. and running until 3 p.m., the schedule for the day in-cludes Mass, talks, time for Confession, quiet time for Adoration. Lunch will also be served. For more information or to register call (605) 263-1040, email [email protected] or visit our website at broom-tree.org
