Zimbabwe is a republic with a presidential system of government. The semi-presidential system was done away with the adoption of a new constitution after a referendum in March 2013.
Mugabe is a Zimbabwean revolutionary andpolitician who is the President of Zimbabwe. As oneof the leaders of the rebel groups against whiteminority rule, he was elected as Prime Minister,head of government, in 1980, and served in thatoffice until 1987, when he became the country'sfirst executive head of state. He has ledthe Zimbabwe African National Union – PatrioticFront (ZANU–PF) since 1975.
