Definition of Terms

• University student housing accommodation: a multi-

occupancy housing unit operated by a university.

• Built environment: the products and processes of

human creation (material and non-material)

(McClure & Bartuska, 2007).

• Life Design: practices, preferences, and

expectations which influence life experience

(Azevedo, 2008; Reilly, 2011).

and de-tangle oneself from the web of knowledge

and assumptions about knowing

Bringing it Home• A great deal of interest and generalist research has been

offered on university student housing accommodations, but

I‟d like to contribute my part…personal stories

• Home is an important part of my life, and I believe, an

important part of the way we live, how we are able to think,

be…and become (Barnett, 2011).

• Abundant opportunity to engage with students about theirexperience in student housing accommodations exists.

• Growing student participation, engaging with diversity in HE

and the “Place of space-place” in student Living-learning
