alloy

A mixture of metals, e.g. brass.

The temperature at which a liquid changes to a gas.

chromatography

A method of separating substances.The substances are separated as they move, in a solvent, through a material, e.g. paper.

The substances often move at different speeds.

condenser

A piece of apparatus which coolsa gas to change it to a liquid.

crude oil

A valuable mixture of many different hydrocarbons. Many

useful chemicals can be extracted from it.

dissolve

The process that occurs when a solute is added to a suitable solvent, e.g. salt will dissolve in water.
