What is YPP?• Yearly Progress Pro (YPP) is a weekly Math, Reading, and
Language Arts testing program. • Progress Monitoring Tool allows:• Teachers to access students’ academic performance on a
regular basis• To determine whether children are profiting appropriately
from the typical instructional program• To build more effective programs for children who do not
benefit appropriately from typical instruction
What is CBM?• CBM is Curriculum-Based Measurement• A form of classroom assessment for …• Describing academic competence in reading, language arts or
math• Tracking academic development• Improving student achievement• Used with all children to determine whether they are profiting
from typical instruction
CBM and YPP• CBM involves regular assessments based on the end of the
year goal, which are administered throughout the school year.• YPP year-end Reading goals are aligned to national curriculum
standards.• YPP assessments are to be given weekly in Reading, Language
Arts and Math.• YPP provided useful, ongoing data to inform education of
students progress throughout the year.• YPP answers “who is and who is not learning”• YPP provides data to teachers to teach and reteach students.• YPP allows interventions to be introduced in a timely manner.• YPP provides specifically designed exercises for review.
Starting Date October 3, 2011• After NWEA testing starts:• Lynn creates a database with all students, teachers, and
administrators which is uploaded to YPP. • All teachers and students have to be verified by YPP.• Information is then loaded on to the district YPP server• Wayne and Peggy have the opportunity to assign each child to
their teacher/class.• Principals will receive and distribute teacher login information.• Teachers will need to login and validate their student lists.• Inform Wayne or Peggy of any changes that are needed.
YPP Math & Language Basics• Teachers assigns CBM assessments once• Accommodated Tests are available for students with 504 or
IEP’s requiring extended time.• All students may use headphones to have material read to
them (Math & LA)• Tests are 15 minutes – automatically stops• Calculators may be used on Math Assessments
Reading• Global indicator (Overall measure of reading achievement)• 2 ½ minutes Maze assessment track progress in reading fluency.• Measured against grade level targets.• Leveled reading passages allow true comparison of progress over
time.

Math and Language Arts are set up the same
User Must Know Tips• Give students their username and password on a 3 x 5 card.
Distribute for testing and then collect afterwards.
Provide students with paper and pencil to work problems.
In case of fire drill or emergency (restroom), have the student close the browser by clicking on the red X at the very top right corner of the page. By closing the browser, they can go back in and complete the test. If left to run, the test will time out and submit the data. Clicking on the red EXIT button will submit the data and they can not complete the test.
Student Login
• Students are to work in Safari or Internet Explorer

• Put in their user name and password
School Training Dates:• Principals will be emailed when all information is loaded and
assigned to teachers.• Please contact Peggy with possible training dates.• Wayne and Peggy will confirm a date with you.• We would like to use a lab so that we can have teachers log
into their site and actually assign and create tests.
