Confederation Case Study Out of work? It’s time to travel

Intrepid Travel has been receiving enquiries from professionals wishing to use their redundancy pay to finance overseas travel. The adventure tour operator is therefore offering a 15% discount to anyone who can provide evidence (in the form of an email or letter from their previous employer) that they’ve recently been made redundant.

“It appears that some people view redundancy as an opportunity to take a career break, reassess their lives and see the world. By offering this discount we hope to make this opportunity a reality for them,” says Darrell Wade, CEO and co-founder of Intrepid Travel.

In line with this, the company has also experienced an increase in demand for longer overland trips; sales of their 45-day adventure trip between Kenya and Cape Town has more than doubled in January to November 2008 compared to 2007.
