Special Missions Recognition Award

The women of UMW would like to congratulate Millie Howard

on receiving this year’s Special Missions Recognition award for

her support of Salem UMC. Millie has served as Assistant

Treasurer at Salem, on The Oasis Committee, Member of Faith

Circle, member of The Pathfinders SS Class, helps with

preparing and delivering meals to shut-ins, helped with serving

meals at Finley Park, helped with sandwiches for downtown

homeless, on Salem Team for Washington UMC Soup Cellar and

Youth Small Groups

Tonight all youth will meet at San Jose for our first small groups

meeting of the year. We will meet together at 5:00p.m. and then

break out with your small group leader to eat, fellowship and get

to know each other.

Salem Family Holiday Tree

Today we begin to usher in the holiday season a little early by

placing a lighted tree in the Welcome Center. This tree is

separate from our traditional Chrismon tree as it will be referred

to as our Salem Family Tree. We would like your help in

decorating the tree! We would love for families to adorn our tree

with a “family ornament”. It can be a new ornament, a special

homemade ornament, or one that simply represents the

character/personality of your family! You can begin bringing

your family ornament (one per family) today! Hooks will be

provided for you to place your ornament on the tree. Let’s fill

our tree up quickly as the joy of the season is upon us!

Ladies’ Lunch Bunch For any ladies that just want to get together for fellowship time over

lunch, we will meet on November 25th at 12 o’clock at El

Poblano’s.

Advent/Christmas Decorating

The Worship Committee will be decorating the Sanctuary for

Advent / Christmas on Saturday, November 30th

, at 9:00.

Everyone is invited to come out and help.

Pledge Cards We have received pledges from 71 families. There are still those

who have pledged in years past that have not turned in cards. If

you have not completed one, pledge cards are available in the

Welcome Center and the Narthex. Please be sure to fill one out

and place in the offering plate. Thanks to all for your support of

Salem.

The Bazaar is scheduled for December 14th and we hope

everyone puts this date on their calendar to come shop.

The youth group will be selling homemade soups again this

year. If you have a favorite soup you would like to make and

contribute, please call Sheri Hood, 803-767-5924 or email

[email protected]. All proceeds will go toward the 2021

foreign mission trip.

The time of the event is 9 - 2. There will be over 40

vendors…… We look forward to seeing you there!

If you or someone you know is interested in setting up a table

please contact Millie Fore 920-5261 or Sandra Durst 600-6206

for more information.

OASIS Holiday Celebration

We will gather for a fun, festive Holiday Celebration in the

fellowship hall on Tuesday, December 17 at 11:30. It will be a

pot luck event so bring your favorite dish to share, as well as a

$10 unisex gift for a gift exchange.

Christmas Mission Project This holiday season at SUMC we will be supporting the Prisma Health

Children’s Hospital Child Life Holiday Market. Donations are used to

set up a “store” for inpatient families, and parents/caregivers are

provided with tickets to redeem for gifts. The Holiday Market enables

parents/caregivers to “shop” for holiday gifts without having to leave

the hospital. The Child Life department assists children from birth thru

the teenage years so there is a wide-range of shopping opportunities –

the infection control policy requires that all donations must be NEW

with original tags and/or packaging. A list of suggested items can be
