1960S

The Mod’s• The mod’s came around in the late 1950s early 60s. • The Mod’s where about breaking free from

the old fashioned ways of the 50s and embracing their rebellious side.

• This was also the era of the scooter.

1960s

MUSIC• The Beatles, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and

Bob Dylan.• The man band that influenced the Mod’s

where “The Who”.• The Who were a popular band in 1964 who

appealed to mod’s due to their rhythm and blues, soul and beat music tastes.

1970s

Punk• The punk culture came around in the mid 1970s

and formed from punk rock.• This was a way people could express themselves

through fashion, music and visual art.• They challenged fashion with big outrageous hair

styles, clothes that they had changed by putting them together with safety pins etc.

MUSIC

• The one thing that punks liked to do was to go to loud and aggressive gigs which showed them having fun with the live music.

• Pink Floyd, The Bee Gees and The Ramones.• The Sex pistols were the most popular punk

band around during this era.

1980s

Goth• The Goth subculture began is the early 1980s.• The fashion of Goths where often inspired by the

Victorian era by bit formal dresses. However they added their own stereotypical twist by wearing all black clothes, hair, make up and also piercings.

• During the time there was also questions about the mental state of people involved in the culture.

MUSIC• Bon Jovi, Tina Turner, Billy Joel and Wham• The Sisters of Mercy were just one of the

bands who were well known for their Goth rock genre and their Goth following.

• The Band formed in the early 1980s and carried on till the early 1990s.
