OVENIA Hostelling International SloveniaHostelling International Slovenia (HI Slovenia) is the only national representative of Slovenia in the International Youth Hostel Federation (Hostelling International – HI). HI is a non-governmental and non-profit organization active in about 90 countries in the world. The organization works closely together with UNESCO (United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization), WTO (World Tourism Organization) and other important international organization – also it was proclaimed the sixth largest organization that offers overnighting. With 4 million members it is one of the largest youth organizations in the world and is the only network of youth hostels with about 4.000 objects for spending the night, 1.5 million beds and 30-40 overnight stays annually.

HI has high standards for youth hostels, based on the treatment of the guests, security, cleanliness and privacy. But it is not its only role. Since it was established in 1932 it encourages young people for better intercultural understanding through informal education and peace, global friendship and environmentalism. The international organization, with a strong support of its national members, it offers interaction among youth of various nationalities and cultures, exchange of experience, getting to know their peers and after all themselves.

For this the organization has international programs for youth, above all the ones with lesser chances, through which we spread the mission of Hostelling International, which remained the same since 1932:

To promote the education of all young people of all nations, but especially young people of limited means, by encouraging in them a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and an appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities in all parts of the world, and as ancillary thereto, to provide hostels or other accommodation in which there shall be no distinctions of race, nationality, colour, religion, sex, class or political opinions and thereby to develop a better understanding of their fellow men, both at home and abroad.

HI Slovenia, with more than 40 hostels around Slovenia, ensures safe, budget friendly and quality boarding for all types of groups. This includes the educational field trips with various themes (history, art or language courses) as well as extracurricular activities for schools, students, sporting and other groups – or simply friends who want a joint active holiday.

Hostel Barovc Kranjska Gora is located in a truly enviable location above the lakes Jasna on the outskirts of the Triglav National Park under beautiful Julian Alps. On the other hand it is only 10 minutes walk from the center of Kranjska Gora. Hostel offers free WiFi throughout the facility, internet and info point, a covered terrace, indoor entertainment area with board games, a children’s playground, restaurant, which offers a rich breakfast and tasty local dishes at affordable prices, bar with terrace and splendid views. It has 11 rooms with a total of 31 beds, of which 7 are double, 3 quadruple and 1 quintuple room. Each room has its own bathroom, linens and towels. Hostel is suitable for groups up to 31 persons. All the information needed is available to you at the Hostel Barovc staff that will take care for your pleasant stay.

Kranjska Gora is a Mountain Tourist Destination with more than a Century of Tradition. It is the most important Slovenian and World-known Winter Sports Resort famous for FIS World Cup “Vitranc” and Planica - the Cradle of Ski-Flying. The Mysterious Adventures are offered in nearby Villages as well, which Inevitably Call to Admire. The surrounding area is a paradise for hikers, mountaineers and climbers, cyclists, mountainbikers, skiers and snowboarders, all who love adrenaline sports ... The Triglav National ParkThe Triglav National Park (TNP) is the only Slovenian national park. The park was named after Triglav, the highest mountain in the heart of the park, which is also the highest summit in Slovenia (2864 m). Hostel Barovc is located right on the outskirts of Triglav National Park.

Fun Bike Park Kranjska GoraFun Bike Park Kranjska Gora will convince you with the Downhill track which is open to all, especially the speed-hungry riders. The newest track Adventureland offers lots of interesting wooden objects, long bridges across the swamp and idyllic forest line for pure entertainment.

VršičSlovenia’s highest mountain pass with a road that links the Bovec area and Kranjska Gora makes for an excellent starting point for mountain hikes. The road to Vršič links a number of natural treasures in the Triglav National Park: Juliana Alpine botanical garden, the Mlinarica gorge, the source of the Soča… The road across the Vršič mountain pass is particularly popular with road cyclists.

TamarTamar is one of the most beautiful glacial valleys of the Julian Alps in the far north-west of Slovenia. Tamar Valley is actually a continuation of the Planica valley, which is world-famous for ski jumping. From Planica to Tamar there are two paths, which are very popular among trekkers and hikers.

Valley VrataValley Vrata is our most famous and probably the most popular alpine valley. On the way to Vrata is a necessary stop at the waterfalls Peričnik. One-time refreshment in summer and spectacular adventure in winter, when waterfalls freeze.
