Planning the most important day of your life can be a little daunting, with the huge variety of options available. The venue is arguably the starting point in your wedding journey, so whether you are looking for an intimate gathering of your closest friends and family, or perhaps something a little different – here at The Bear we appreciate that no two weddings are the same, so we will help you tailor your wedding to your exact needs and requirements.

Should you choose The Bear to celebrate your special day, I will be on hand to guide and support you every step of the way. With practical advice on menus, wine, table layouts and evening entertainment.

With 44 bedrooms, The Bear can offer accommodation for all your friends and family, from single rooms, to standard doubles, executive twins and doubles, together with superior and four poster rooms. Our beautiful suite should be the one for you!

The public rooms are everything you would expect from a country house hotel. Roaring log fires in the winter and landscaped grounds for that perfect summer wedding – there is even a marquee, which is available with no hire charge.

Our wedding brochure has been designed to give you a flavour of what is on offer at The Bear, but if there is something specific you are looking for with regard to menus, wine etc, I would be happy to work with you to make it happen.

Wedding Ceremonies The Bear of Rodborough is licensed to hold Civil Ceremonies within the hotel.

The Tower Room is ideal for small intimate weddings and is licensed for up to 26 people. Should you wish to be married quietly and discreetly we are able to provide the witnesses, Champagne breakfast and private dining in the evening.

The Terrace Room is the perfect setting for wedding ceremonies of up to 60 guests, with patio doors which overlook the garden at the rear of the hotel.

The Library Restaurant is also licensed for wedding ceremonies of up to 90 guests, offering the view of the stunning common during the ceremony.

This is a guide to making your special day run smoothly. Enquire whether the Bear of Rodborough Hotel is available for your chosen date, then make a provisional booking after visiting the hotel.

Contact the Superintendent Registrar, who will give advice on the legal details for your wedding, and will organise and conduct the ceremony. The Superintendent Registrar for the area covering the Bear of Rodborough Hotel is based in Cheltenham, and can be contacted on the following telephone number: (01242) 532 455.

Book the registration staff to conduct the ceremony. Make an appointment with the Superintendent Registrar of the district in which you live to complete the legal documentation of your marriage.

Providing the wedding breakfast is to be held at The Bear of Rodborough, the following charges, including room hire, chair hire and VAT, apply:

Your Wedding Reception Depending on how many guests are to be invited the Wedding Breakfast may be held in one of three rooms.

The Terrace Room seats up to 60 guests, including yourselves

The Tower Room up to 28 guests

The Library Restaurant for up to 110 guests

Whatever your choices – canapés, dressed buffet or a traditional three-course Wedding Breakfast – our Head Chef will create a menu based on your wishes. This ensures that there are no hidden surprises, and you are totally aware of what to expect on the day.

Prices for a Wedding Breakfast start from £35 per person for either a three-course served meal or a dressed buffet.

We do offer corkage at The Bear of Rodborough Hotel at £10 for wine and £15 for sparkling wine or Champagne. An extensive wine list is also available to complement your choice of menu.

Evening Celebrations The Bear of Rodborough is well renowned for its superb evening receptions to complete the special day. We can provide our own resident DJ and Disco at a cost of £320 for the evening. However, if you wish to provide your own entertainment in the form of a disco or band there will be a nominal service charge of £100. All of our evening entertainment ends at midnight, the only exception being for exclusive use of the Hotel, when the arrangements are negotiable. There is an additional charge of £150 for hiring a room for an evening reception.

Our Terrace Room has views of the garden and complementary use of our beautiful marquee. It is also the ideal location for your wedding celebrations. Various evening buffet menus follow and entertainment providers can be recommended – such as casino nights and karaoke.

Our Cancellation Charges We realise that unforeseen circumstances can arise and you may have to cancel your wedding with us. Although we understand this, we will make a cancellation charge because of the high demand for wedding dates. Details of the cancellation charge are shown in our wedding contract. We recommended that you take out wedding insurance to cover any unforeseen events.



Overnight Accommodation We are delighted to be able to offer a discount on rooms occupied by guests of any wedding or function held at the hotel. Our current rates per night are shown as follows:

Booking Your Wedding Once you have decided on your date a provisional booking can be held for 14 days to enable you to co-ordinate other wedding details, which may affect your chosen date. Then:

1 To secure your booking a letter of confirmation will be required, together with a non-refundable deposit of £500.00. For any bedroom bookings a non-refundable deposit of 25% per room per night is required.

2 All bookings require 25% of the total estimated wedding cost to be paid no later than 8 weeks after the deposit in order to confirm the booking. This payment is non-refundable and is not transferable.

3 24 weeks prior to the wedding day, 50% of the estimated balance will be due.

4 Six weeks prior to the wedding day payment for the meal, beverages and any additional agreed costs must be paid.

5 We will wish to receive final numbers 21 days prior to the event.

6 Settlement of any extras incurred on the day must be paid upon departure.

Prices are correct at the time of booking but may be subject to change without notice. All of our prices are inclusive of VAT at the current rate.
