PLANNING YOUR WEDDING

love is just a word, until someonecomes a long and gives it meaning

I am sure you have dreamed about your wedding for a long time. Maybe day-dreaming about it, or if you were like me pinning things away on Pinterest whenever I saw something that I knew I would want on my special day. The truth of the matter is there are certain things that busy brides forget to think about. Which is ok! You have a lot on your plate.

I created this guide for the sole purpose of making sure you are as informed as possible for having the best pictures on your wedding day. There are so many things that contribute to what makes a picture beautiful and most of the time they are things that can be planned for as long as you plan ahead. So dive into this guide to find out how we can plan for the best wedding day for your pictures!

INTRO

First of all, I realize there are a lot of things that will happen on your wedding day that will be out of your control, and that is ok and to be expected. These are just a few items that if we plan ahead can be controlled.

-LightingI probably do and will talk about lighting in every guide that you will get from me. This is because I cannont stress enough how important lighting is when it comes to the outcome and feel of an image. You can still create an amazing image when it is dark outside by using a flash. But don’t expect that image to have the same look and feel to images that are taken at “golden hour” with no flash and natural light. I am a natural light photographer and thrive on natural light. This is how my editing style looks the best and creates the mood that I want my images to portray. When planning for your wedding day consider what time you are getting married at. Is it right in the middle of the day when the sun is the most harsh? If it is inside does the venue have lots of big windows to let in natural light? If it is outside in the middle of the day, is there any shade? These and questions like these are what I hope you will be thinking about when picking out where and when you will be getting married. I don’t tell you all this to stress you out, but more to inform you to help you when making decisions for your day. With all that said, will we be able to take pictures whenever, wherever. Yes! I am just going for the absolute best scenario. For those of you that are now wondering what I do when there is no natural light. I do have and use a flash at almost every reception I shoot. So it is nothing new to me, I just always try and use as much natural light as possible before heading that route.

-VenueIf you have decided to use a venue for your ceremony/reception a few things to consider. First, again look for good lighting. Lots of windows, or other forms of lighting. Second, the venue might have a great huge room, but what does the actual venue look like? What do the floors, walls, ceilings look like? You have to realize these things are going to be the main part of your backdrop to all your images.

-DecorJust like your venue, this will play a huge part into your “background” of your images. Decor details may seem like small things, but it really is all in the details. Decor will add a lot to the overall feel of your ceremony/reception.

BEFORE YOUR WEDDING

-Once your wedding day gets here all I want you to do is relax and enjoy your day! Don’t worry about lighting, decor, venue, etc. Everything in the end is going to be perfect. I really, really, hope this guide doesn’t come across harsh or stress you out. I just want you to be informed! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns or if I can help in anyway.

-Hair and Make-upYou will see the following exact paragraph again in your bridal prep guide. I didn’t change a word because I feel the same way towards hair and make up for your wedding day. Please, please, please, consider getting your hair and make-up done professionally. I cannot stress enough what a difference this will make in your pictures. The outcome is drastically differ-ent. Not just because of the obvious of having your hair and make up proffessionally done will probably look better. But really, for me it comes down to, it will make you feel so much more beautiful. This beauty will clearly radiate in your images and will give you an amazing bridal glow. I have worked with several make-up artists in the past that I have loved in Logan, Ogden, and Salt Lake, please don’t hesitate to ask if you need recommendations. My “go-to” is Sam Hurst with Streamline Hair and Design by Sam. You can find her on my vendor page of my web-site.
