WHERE SHOULD CATGENIE GO?

If the CatGenie goes in a location different thanthe old litter box, DO NOT set up CatGenie yet.First move the old litter box to the new area.

CAUTION: If the litter box or boxes need to be moved a great distance, our cat behavioristsrecommend moving the old box or boxes little bylittle, slowly over time to the new location so thatyour cats can adjust to the change. When catsare comfortable, proceed with CatGenie set up.

1) Bring Base, Processing Unit,Hopper Cover,GenieHand, plusthe T-Adapters andthis Set Up Sheetto the site. Site must have a water source,a drain and anelectrical outlet. a b

2) Turn over the Base to access the 10’ DrainHose. Remove packing.a Uncoil the Hose so that the Hook reaches the waste drain or toilet. Makesure there are no crimps or sharp angles.

3. L A U N D RY/UTILITY ROOM SET UPYou’ll only need a pliers and the large T-Adapter

1) Have a towelhandy. Shut off theCOLD water supply line on the wall by theWashing Machine.

TIP: A cold waterline may have a bluevalve, be labeled, orjust feel the pipe forcoldness.

WARNING:ONLY use theCOLD waterline. HOTWATER WILLDAMAGE theCatGeniemechanism.

2) a Unscrew theCOLD water line hoseunder the turn-off valve. Loosen the connectionwith pliers.b Finish disconnectingthe hose by hand. Holdthe hose upright sowater won’t drip.

3) Screw the locknut on the washingmachine hose to thethreaded opening oflarge T-Adapter.

TIP: If you need touse a tool to tightenthe connection don’tover tighten.

4) Now attach the hose andT-Adapter to thewater line. Make sure thatthe T’s lock nutis movable.Tighten the locknut around the pipe threads.

5) Screw the CatGenie hose on to the T-Adapter.

CAUTION:Do NOT use pliers to tighten theCatGenie Lock Nut. Hand tighten only.

6) Insert CatGenie DrainHook securely into the washer’s drainpipe.

CAUTION: Do NOT force the GenieHook into the drainpipe. If itcan’t fit easily with the washer’s drainhose call 1-888-735-3927

NOTE: A drainpipe opening higher than 4 feet from the floor mayslow down draining. Only a tiny percent ever have this problem.

NOTE: If you put the CatGenie DrainHook into a floor drain, you must run a portion of the CatGenie DrainHose at least 2 feetabove the CatGenie Bowl. Just a short run is needed.

NOTE: If you have low water pressure, best not to run the WashingMachine and the CatGenie at the same time.

1) Access the coldwater line to a toilet or sink.

WARNING:If using water from asink, ONLY use theCOLD water line. HOT WATER WILLDAMAGE THE UNIT.Fresh water tothe toilet is cold.

NOTE: If either the sinkor toilet water line is arigid pipe, measure thepipe and replace with aflexible water pipe avail-able at any hardwarestore. Turn off water, thenit’s a simple screw OFFand ON. With flex hosein place, proceed withCatGenie setup.

2) Shut offthe COLD waterby turning thevalve on the toilet or sinkwater line.Have a towelhandy to anycatch drips.

3 ) For toilet, checkthat water is off byflushing the toilet toempty the tank.

W A R N I N G :If tank keeps re-filling,turn the valve again. If it still refills, STOPand immediately call 1 - 8 8 8 - 7 3 5 - 3 9 2 7

4)Unscrewwater-line flex pipe.at valve. Use pliers or wrench to loosen the lock nut connection.

5) a Use your handto connect and tightenthe small T-Adapter tothe flex-pipe lock nut. b Then connect and and hand tighten the T-Adapter Lock Nut tothe shut-off valve. Use a wrench for thelast 1/4 turn on bothconnections.

6) Connect theCatGenie water supply hose to the T-Adapter and HAND TIGHTEN. Do not use a toolon the CatGenieplastic Lock Nut.

7) Place CatGenie DrainHookover the toilet bowl then lowerthe toilet seat. Check that toilet has “feet” so Hook is not squeezed when the toilet seat is down.NOTE: If your water pres-sure is low, best not to flush thetoilet while the CatGenie runs.

B ATHROOM/POWDER ROOM SET UPYou’ll only need a wrench or pliers and the small T-Adapter4.

2) Empty one entire box of Washable Granules into the Bowl. Box will fill to the level indented inside Bowl. Spread Granules evenly.

WARNING:Only use CatGenie Washable Granules.DO NOT use or mix cat litter in the CatGenie.Any other litter causes severe damage to theCatGenie and voids your Warranty.

3) a Slip a Smart Cartridgeinto slot on top of the CatGenie. Notch and arrow points to back. b Push down firmly to activateCartridge. Good for 60 washes.

CAUTION:CatGenie can not functionwhen the Smart Cartridge isempty. ALWAYS HAVE ANEXTRA Cartridge on hand. The Smart Cartridge releasesthe exact amount of cat-safe,vet-approved SaniSolution. The Cartridge protects theCatGenie operation and thehealth of your cats.

4) Plug in the CatGenie electric cord.Best to plug into a GFCI certified wall socket.

1) Have a towel handy.Turn water on. Check allconnections for leaks. Use atool to tighten fittings that drip.

CAUTION: DO NOT use a tool to tighten the CatGenie white plastic Lock Nut. It has a pressure seal that only needs hand tightening.

6) To run a Cleaning Cycle, Press & ReleaseSTART CYCLE/PAUSE Button.

TIP: Make surethat your catsare not nearby.

5) When plugged in, a seriesof Beeps sound and all LEDslight up in sequence. MeansCatGenie is operating correctly.NOTE: If Beeps do not soundcheck that the Processing Unitis properly in place by lifting itup and replacing it into its slot.

NOTE: Ridges on the GenieHandpurposely rub againsta post on the Brim sothat excess Granulesget shaken back intothe Bowl. The soundit makes is normal.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I RUNMY CATGENIE?

One Cat..........Clean 1-2 times per day

Two Cats.........Clean 2-3 times per day

Three Cats.. . . . .Clean 3-4 times per day

Every cat is different. From our experience with over 15,000 cats, most, once shown the Bowl and Granules, know it’s where to go and use it immediately.If CatGenie is in the same place as the litter box, adjustment is usually easier.A percentage of cats need time to adjust to something new. During this time,

1) If your cats doN O T use CatGeniei m m e d i a t e l y, put theirold litter box nearby.DO NOT clean outold box. The dirtier itgets, the more catsprefer CatGenie. Once your cats useCatGenie, remove the old box and litter.

TIP: If having a problem gettingcat use to Granules, try mixingthem with litter BUT ONLY in thelitter box. Toss all the contentsonce the litter box is used.

2) When running CatGenie in the first week, shut the dooror make sure your cats are notn e a r b y. The new sound of thecleaning process might startlethem. Over time your cats willassociate the sound with theirn e w, always clean cat box.

3) Until your cats are comfortable with CatGenie,only press START CYCLE to initiate cleaning. In time,you can program the AutoSetup to start the CatGenieautomatically. See page 5 in Green Owner’s Guide.

NOTE: Unless you know that your cats are NOT using theCatGenie, it is important to run atleast one cleaning cycle per catevery day. Clean even if you donot see any waste in the box asurine does NOT show on theWashable Granules.

YOUR CAT AND YOUR CATGENIE 6.it is safe and normal for cats to refrain from “going” in the first 24 to 48 hours. Do notmake a fuss over the CatGenie. Act normal, natural. Let your cats be curious. • Scoop Cycle: GenieHand comes down 3 times to remove solids. 5 min• Wash Cycle: After scooping, water flows in to cover Washable Granules.

During three wash cycles, SaniSolution with GenieHand scrubs Granules and Bowl. Hand moves to agitate Granules. Solids are liquefied inside the Hopper. Water and waste drains out. Interior is rinsed clean. 11 min

• Dry Cycle: GenieHand sifts through Granules for thorough drying. 16 min
