LE FORUM 2016

Dr Alan BAGDEN“2017 and Beyond : More than fifteen years, hundreds of lectures and thou-sands of cases. What does our profession want?”We want to see teeth being moved and understand how the movement occurs, believing that wecan obtain the same type of movement for our patients. And we want to learn "Tips and Tricks" asto khow to do the things we see. This lecture is the culmination of more than 5,000 Damon casestreated by Dr. Alan Bagden prepared especially for this meeting with emphasis on the "what" andthe "how to". Dr. Bagden has presented lectures to thousands of doctors, in more than 45 coun-tries during the past 15 years, and has synthesized what he has learned about the Damon Systemand those small clinical "tricks" to make his cases work. That is what he will present at this impor-tant meeting. From cleft palates to bimaxillary protrusion to prosthetic rehabilitation.

Dr Chris CHANG“Simplified Class III mechanics” This lecture will demonstrate an array of non-surgical Class III treatment for adult as well as youngerpatients, with compounding issues such as open bite or deep bite. Detailed treatment process andtreatment mechanics will be described to convince the audience that removing the inessential canhelp achieve excellent, easily-replicated results thanks to a thorough understanding of basic biologyand bio-mechanics.

Conferences & topics

Dr Jeff KOZLOWSKI“Treating difficult cases with Damon and Insignia”Learn how to treat the most challenging cases using efficient and effective Damon System mecha-nics. During this presentation, Dr. Kozlowski will cover a variety of complex Class II and Class IIIcases and show how to harness the power of Passive Self Ligation. From treatment planning totorque selection to case design to progressive visits; you will see step by step with clinical photoshow to achieve your desired results while minimizing reliance on surgery and auxiliary appliances. Both direct-bonded Damon System and indirect-bonded Insignia cases will be covered in detail.

Dr. Sonia PALLECK“The Power of Approver” Welcome to the classroom! In this in-depth step-by-step presentation, Dr. Palleck will explainher approach to the Approver software. She will focus on how to “see” virtual teeth to ensureyour case outcome reflects the computerized version of your patient.

Drs Bernard NOURRY & Gianluigi CACCIANIGA“Laser diode and orthodontics: the world of biostimulation”In recent years, our specialty has come to realize that we have underestimated the potential formodifying the structure of the dentoalveolar block. We now know that guided biostimulation ofthe dentoalveolar complex can deliver exceptional results. The latest studies on this topic conclude that LLT (Low Level Laser Therapy) is able to triggercellular superactivation, thus enabling us to plan faster tooth movements and, above all, to pre-serve or even enhance the thickness of the periodontium. In addition, the laser diode can be usedin daily routine for many procedures in our orthodontic practices. This is the message I intend todevelop during this presentation.

Dr. Philippe VAN STEENBERGHE“Insignia and treatments with skeletal goals” I propose to address the topic in the most practical way to give you a maximum numberof immediately applicable answers: • How does the Insignia system fit into your Class II orthopedic treatments and into yourvarious ortho-surgical treatments?

•What are the objectives, the special features of the treatment plan, the setup and thewire sequences?

•What can you expect in terms of speed and efficiency, and how can you do better? •What are the benefits for the patient, the parents, the surgeon, and finally the orthodontist?

Drs François DARQUÉ & Skander ELLOUZE“Using mini-implants to achieve our goals in adult orthodontic treatments” Can we continue to do without mini-implants in adult orthodontic treatments?Multidisciplinary treatment planning is guided by the need to ensure anchorage, a fundamentalfactor in successful treatment. Do we need implants, mini-implants, or a combination of both? What are the indications? Drs. S. Ellouze and F. Darqué will address the issue of treatment strategy and mini-implant-as-sisted biomechanics via numerous adult clinical cases.

Workshop topics

Drs Philippe VAN STEENBERGHE & Jeff KOZLOWSKI“Insignia bonding workshop ” A theoretical and practical course covering the entire bonding procedure:• Approver setup features related to the bonding procedure; general rules and exceptions.• Management of the Insignia patient kit• Bonding preparation and specificities of the Insignia system• Appliance placement step by step• How to handle mistakes and emergencies• Tips and tricks

Participants will have the opportunity to perform all the operations under the supervision ofan experienced Insignia instructor.

Dr Jean-David SEBAOUN “Optimizing accelerated treatments using the Damon technique”With the recent development of minimally-invasive alveolar corticotomy techniques, we are nowfaced with an increasing demand for faster orthodontic treatment. The Damon system enablesus to optimize the temporary impact of these procedures and to ensure smoother correctionphases. In addition to providing a precise description of the surgical procedure, we will describe a protocol specific to the Damon accelerated orthodontics technique which will focus on archwiresequences, appointment scheduling and the importance of choosing the right torques, all of whichare essential to at least halving your average treatment times.

Dr Marc GESERICK “Digital orthodontics in the daily practice”Digital systems are opening up new techniques in diagnosis and therapy. By applying these me-thods, a positive impact can be achieved on the workflow in your day-to-day practice. Insignia is currently one of the most useful treatment approaches worldwide. Clinical applicationof the system will be presented as well as the use of 3D printers in combination with digital mo-dels. The presentation will also include trouble shooting and difficult preprosthetic cases.

Mme Christelle CAUCHOIS“How to optimize office management”A team’s performance is dependent on the practitioner’s ability to show the way and motivate, inother words, on his/her ability to manage the staff. What kind of manager are you? What are thedifferent styles of management? Come and join in the discussion and learn what tools are availableto manage your team on a day-to-day basis.
