About the Author ...................................................... 38
I was blessed to be raised in a very purposeful and successful family
who helped me discover much of what I was created to do by the time I
was twelve years old. Even with that, it took time to become crystal
clear about who I am and what I am called to focus on completing in my
lifetime.
What about those of you who are still trying to get clarity about what you
were created to do and how you were to complete it? This eBook is for
you.
I loved horses growing up. I collected horse models that I named and
played with incessently. I had horse barns for them and built horse
families. My love for horses was so strong that I begged my parents for
my very own horse…that is, until I found out I was extremely allergic to
real horses after my parents arranged for us to visit a colleague’s horse
barn. My eyes and face itched and my throat almost completely swelled
up. That ended my requests for my own horse.
But my love of horses continued. When Disney came out with its
version of the story depicting the greatest horse of all time in 2010,
Secretariat, I remember running to the theater to see that movie. I was
moved to tears. It touched something deep within me.
Secretariat was bread for greatness beyond what had ever or has ever
been witnessed in the history of horse racing. He always came from
behind and passed the crowded field of horses and their miniature
jockeys. It took great courage and steel-like determination and focus on
the part of his owner, Penny Chenery, to race him. Against all odds,
Secretariat was given the chance to “run his race” and the perfect
combination of speed, stamina, and distance converged to finally allow
Secretariat to run on all cylinders. He left the crowd in awed tears that
day.
Running your race is critical because there is greatness in you and until
you run it out, you have no idea how far you can go. The movie,
Secretariat, focused on the faith it took for the whole team to make it
happen.
What would your life look like if you knew, without a doubt, what
you were built for?

There is something you were created to bring forth into the world that is
different from the other 7.347 billion people in the world. This is your
Extraordinary.
You are a specific aspect of the overall vision for the world, and you
carry specific pieces to achieve your highest and best use for the world.
Your part in this is to go through the process to become the person you
were created to be.
Your Extraordinary is the highest call on your life when you have
manifested all that has been placed within you to bring forth in the
world. It is the building of something evident (a successful business, a
thriving ministry, a large non-profit organization, etc.), which is a result
of your faithful obedience, tenacity, and persistence to see your
Extraordinary come into fruition. It is something big that will leave an
impact on all who come into contact with you and what you are building.
When you are clear about your Extraordinary, you can literally
transcend the circumstances of your life. You focus forward and keep
your mind only on things that contribute to and further your vision. You
become unshakable and completely clear on what every day of your life
needs to look like to complete the vision to which you have been called.
You live with joy permeating every aspect of your being. Even your not-
so-good days are fabulous because you are operating in obedience.
Your passion is evident, and you are truly plugged into the power and
love that is within you.
Your ability to clearly understand your Extraordinary can be the
difference between living a life of joy, peace, excitement, and fulfillment
or a life of frustration, repetition, depression, distraction, and
disappointment.
When you are focusing only on fulfilling your Extraordinary, you treat
each day as a precious gift—another opportunity to close the gap
between who you were created to be and who you are right now. I call
this living in “the zone.” When you are in this zone, you have absolutely
no time or space for pettiness, “haters,” limitations, or inefficiency. You
easily identify and embrace your shortcomings and do not allow them to
slow you down so you can continually move forward. You are focused
on consistent, incremental improvements in every area of your life.
When you are walking in your Extraordinary, you walk in certainty and
power, and your focus is on continuous quality improvement. You
simply do not have time to play small, hesitate, hold back, or water
down things to make others comfortable. When you fully express your
Extraordinary, it frees others up to really go for it!
Your Extraordinary is the biggest and best possible life that has been
planned for you. I am astounded at how many people are not living their
Extraordinary because they are not clear about what sets them apart.
Fully tapping into your true Extraordinary is a process, but this eBook is
about helping you understand WHY you are extraordinary. Not in a rah-
rah, motivational way, but from a place of deep knowing and peace.
Your Extraordinary is the assignment that was placed inside of you to
complete in your lifetime. Living from this place pulls you forward and
shifts you from striving to expressing your greatness with no apology.
Where do you begin?
Your Extraordinary assignment is inside of you. It does not come from
another person because they will only have a shadow of understanding
of who you were created and destined to be in spite of the
circumstances of your life.
Your circumstances, no matter how difficult or challenging they have
been, have prepared and equipped you to fulfill your Extraordinary.
Because of the circumstances of your life, you may not have even been
aware that you truly have an assignment with your name written on it. In
addition, you may have never understood the meaning and components
of the Extraordinary. Let’s clarify this once and for all.
When I first began coaching leaders in 2001, I used to think that vision,
purpose, passion, calling, and destiny were different words for the same
thing. I have since learned that they are related, but not the same.
These are different aspects of your Extraordinary, and they are not
synonymous.
It is critical to understand these components because you can be
purposely living your vision and still miss fulfilling all of your
Extraordinary. Before you can walk out the fullness of your
Extraordinary, you must first understand each component that makes
up your Extraordinary.
These components are vision, purpose, calling, your story of destiny,
desires of your heart, passion, gifts and talents, and area of service. If
you do not understand how each of these aspects function, you can
miss walking in and fully expressing your Extraordinary.
Let’s go into some detail about what each of these aspects of your
Kingdom Assignment actually mean.
THE EIGHT COMPONENTS OF YOUR EXTRAORDINARY
There are so many different uses of the word “vision” that I need to take
a moment to clarify its meaning in the context of your Extraordinary.
Vision is the ultimate conception of what is possible for your life. Vision
is the big picture of what it will look like to fully manifest all you were
born to do. Vision is a prophetic snapshot of of you fully expressing
what makes you amazing. Your vision is what it will look like to realize
100% of your potential.
Vision chooses you. It was predetermined for you when you were born.
It is the life that has already been designed for you. You cannot model
your vision after someone else’s vision. It is yours and yours alone. You
cannot choose your vision; it is already assigned to you. Your job is to
uncover it and take action. Your life’s adventure is to discover it and
build something that makes an impact and leaves a legacy.
I remember when I began realizing my vision. I was twelve years old,
and my sister talked me into running for class vice president. I had to
prepare a speech to deliver in front of the entire seventh grade class. I
clearly remember looking up into the bleachers and seeing the faces of
all of my friends, acquaintances, and teachers and feeling no
nervousness at all. I stood at the table-top podium and delivered my
speech. Although I do not remember exactly what I said, I vividly
remember the reaction my words received from the crowd. My
classmates were standing on their feet cheering, screaming, and letting
out piercing whistles of excitement.
I stood there dazed for a moment as I fully grasped that their reaction
was in response to my speech. It was at that moment that I understood
that God had given me a gift of speaking and sharing a message that
would leave people changed. I also realized that I was most
comfortable speaking in front of a crowd—the more the better. That was
the first glimpse of my vision as a speaker.
You may have several dimensions or aspects of your vision that come
together to form the fullness of your vision. It is usually multifaceted. It is
enough to keep you busy for a lifetime when you focus on making it
happen.
Your vision is different from your dreams. Although your dreams are a
good starting place to begin to access your God-given vision, they are
just the beginning. Dreams open up your imagination and ability for your
mind to “see” what can be conceived for your life. Many of us model our
dreams after the lives of others. Your dreams open the doorway and
provide some clues to the eight keys to your Extraordinary.
I actually do not like using the term “dreams.” It is another throwback to
the good old days of motivational speakers who encouraged you to
dream but did not show you how to actually achieve your dreams. The
other reason I hesitate to talk much about dreams is that they are
usually rooted in materialism and your flesh, and they are in response
to your past or current circumstances. Dreams acknowledge the surface
or material things you may want or desire and only begin to scratch the
surface of what you are here to do for others. You have been dreaming;
it is now time to gain the clarity you need to truly manifest your
Extraordinary.
Your vision is very specific. More and more of it will unfold as you carry
out the pieces that you already know to do. At the end of your life, what
do you want to be known for? What do you want your legacy to be?
Take a few minutes to get still, close your eyes, and allow yourself to
see the fullness of what your life could be if ALL of your potential could
come to fruition. It is already within you. Just let it reveal itself and then
take some time to answer this question:

Once you identify your vision, the next step is to clarify your purpose.
The second aspect of your Extraordinary is purpose. Your purpose tells
you the theme of your life and helps you live it intentionally. Purpose is
the WHY or reason behind your vision. It is always bigger than your
personal desires. Purpose is what fuels and inspires you to do whatever
it takes to see your vision come to pass.
Why do you want to build in this particular area? It is not just about
bringing a vision to pass; it is about why your vision will make an impact
in the world. It is the reason your vision exists.
Your purpose guides or steers your passion (see the Passion section of
this eBook). Purpose explains your method or why you will carry out
your Extraordinary.
With clarity around your why, you begin to clearly understand your
specific purpose and how to get the fuel to achieve it.
Perhaps you were born to make a difference by alleviating hunger or
helping neglected animals. Your purpose gives you a general idea and
direction to move in, but by itself it is not the whole picture.
Understanding why you want to make a difference is your purpose. Now
it is your turn. Take a moment to answer these questions:

Now that your vision and purpose are becoming clearer, let us move on
to articulating your calling.
Calling is the third aspect of your Extraordinary. I also refer to your
calling as your altitude. Altitude is the extent or distance upward or the
height and breadth of your vision and purpose. You can think of it as the
scope of your vision and purpose.
Your calling or altitude is the scope of your Extraordinary (local,
citywide, state, region, nation, or world). You can have fifty people who
are called to be business owners in the fashion industry, but the
altitudes, or the height, scope, and breadth of what they are called to
do, will be different for each business. One may be called to create a
successful, local clothing boutique, while another will be called to
manufacture an entire line of clothing and wholesale it globally.
Your calling was placed in what I call your spiritual DNA. It is not
something you can glean from someone else. It is not something of
someone else’s you can covet. It is unique to how you were built and
wired. You will know if you are not fulfilling your altitude or scope of
work if you cannot sleep at night because you are trying to think of ways
to catapult the calling within you to reach more and more people within
particular territories or locations. Although it takes time to expand your
calling, you know you are supposed to keep going higher and higher,
reaching more and more because you will not be satisfied where you
are. This does not come from a place of ego. It comes from a deeper
directive.
The height of your calling is how high you were born to go in the area of
your vision. You will not have peace until you build at the level of your
calling.
The scope of your calling is the specific number of lives you are called
to impact. Are you called to impact 100 lives or 10,000 lives? Or a
million? This is inside of you. It is not something you would “like” to do.
It it is something you have to do to fulfill your calling.
The breadth of what you are called to do is how deep you are supposed
to go with people. You can build something extraordinary by creating a
product that makes people look better, such as a cosmetic. Or you
could be called to move in transformation and to go deep with people to
help them get to the core of things and create something completely
different from what they have been experiencing.
One is not better than the other. It is just important to allow yourself to
get clarity on it so you know what you are to be expressing with your
life.
Focus on the specific height, scope, and breadth. You will be
completely fulfilled carrying out your calling even though others may be
doing similar work on a broader or more narrow scale.
Stop here for a moment. Take a deep breath and allow the answer to
the following question to rise to the surface of your being.

Destiny is the predetermined course or order of the events that you
have needed to walk out throughout your life. This is better known as
your story. Everyone’s path of destiny or story is different. It is uniquely
yours and yours alone. There is no one else in the world who has lived
your story.
Your destiny is the predetermined path God created for your life. It
seems like your path of destiny or your story is random or fully based on
free will, but it is made up of something much deeper. It includes every
bump and bruise, triumph, highlight, choice, and direction that the twists
and turns of your life have taken.
Your path of destiny is the specific order of the lessons and experiences
the Lord allows to train, equip, develop, and prepare you to carry the
fullness of your vision, purpose, and calling.
While your vision is what you are manifesting, your destiny is the road
you walk to get to the manifestation. There are many paths to manifest
vision, but the path that God uniquely equips, tests, trains, and gives
you the capacity to walk is your destiny.
While it may seem that circumstances you have experienced have been
a coincidence or happenstance, they have not. It has all been
orchestrated to strengthen you to walk out your destiny.
Although free will can
shift your path, as long
as you are moving
forward, you will continue
to be steered on the
pathway that has been
created for you to fulfill.
Think of destiny as the
internal GPS system that
God has placed within you. You might take wrong turns, make a few
bad or wrong decisions, or appear to get temporarily derailed along the
way, but you are always being guided toward the destination of fulfilling
your Extraordinary.
Your destiny is not just the manifestation of who you are created to
become; it is the pathway or process of how you are designed to get
there. The key to staying on your intended path of destiny is continuing
to do your best, showing up in your life even when it gets difficult, and
following your inner compass that was placed inside of you to guide
your way.
Your path of destiny is the specific order of lessons and experiences
needed to train, equip, develop, empower, and prepare you to carry the
fullness of your Extraordinary.
Your destiny builds your character. It calls forth particular lessons and
circumstances that you need to grow and develop in order to carry the
weight of your vision, calling, and purpose. Your path of destiny teaches
you the lessons you need to learn along your way. This is a huge part of
what makes you so amazing.
While your vision is what you are manifesting, your story of destiny is
the road you have walked to become the person who has the capacity
to carry out your Extraordinary until it comes to pass. There are many
paths to manifest your vision, but the path you are on is uniquely
designed and tested to build your capacity to manifest something
extraordinary. That is your path of destiny or your story.
Take the time to answer the following questions so you can begin to
see how your path of destiny dances with your vision, purpose, and
calling:

All of your answers to these questions combine to become your story or
path of destiny. There were no mistakes in your life. Just choices and
lessons learned.
Now that we have discussed your vision, purpose, calling, and path of
destiny, it is time to move on to the fifth component of vision—the
desires of your heart. A desire is a longing or craving for something that
brings satisfaction or enjoyment. There is a chamber deep inside of
your heart that has remained covered and protected from the hurts, lies,
emotional wounds, and disappointments of your past. This deep
chamber holds the desires of your heart. When this chamber is
uncovered, it reveals the true desires of your heart.
The desires of your heart are made up of those things for which you
deeply long, desire, and are willing to work for. The desires of your
heart compel you in a way that will not let you go. These desires go
beyond your mindset, knowledge, or material wants to what is actually
inside of your heart. These desires go beyond your life experiences to
encompass who you were created to be, and they work alongside of the
other components of your Extraordinary.
The desires of your heart are actually what is written on the tablet of
your heart in the spiritual realm (see my book, Your Heart is the Key for
the full teaching on this revelation). When you are focused on
understanding your Extraordinary, the desires of your heart begin to
come into manifestation. The key to what you are seeking lies in
understanding and implementing your Extraordinary.
When building your Extraordinary is at the center of your life,
everything—and I do mean every aspect of your life—moves into its
proper place and order. For this shift to occur, your Extraordinary has to
come from the desires of your heart. When your Extraordinary is not the
center of your life, it usually results in less-than-satisfactory outcomes
that leave you feeling frustrated and unfulfilled.
Stop. Right here. Right now. Stop. Take some deep breaths. Now, tune
into your heart. Focus inward on your heart space and just observe
what is hanging out in your heart. Underneath the frustrations, past
hurts, and emotional wounds lie the deep desires that have been placed
inside of you.

Let us talk about the sixth component of your Extraordinary—passion.
Passion is having a strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or
desire for something. Passion is the fuel that drives you to keep
persevering until you complete your Extraordinary. Your passion
consists of those things that bring you joy, excitement, and energy
when you are doing them. When you are operating in your passion, you
experience a flow and effortlessness that makes it easier to stay the
course.
When you are
passionate, you are
excited, inspired,
motivated, focused,
and fulfilled. Unlike
what the world tells
you, you cannot
build what you were
created to do and
complete in your lifetime on passion alone.
Passion helps you stay engaged, excited, and in alignment with all it
takes to build your Extraordinary. It is your passion that keeps you
going even when things do not seem to be going your way. It is passion
that encourages you to keep working toward your Extraordinary
whether you are in a season of harvest or drought.
Perhaps you love seeing those around you fulfilled and enjoy the looks
on their faces after a great meal you have prepared. You may want to
share this passion with others by opening a new restaurant. Maybe you
are passionate about helping people make money through their
businesses. Or perhaps you love hearing the voices of people in the
listening audience when something you say on your radio show
improves their lives.

Now that you have clarified your vision, purpose, calling, path of
destiny, the desires of your heart, and your areas of passion, it is time
to move on to the seventh component of your Extraordinary.
The next aspects of vision to talk about are your gifts and talents. Your
gifts are those things that just come naturally to you and are not actually
taught; they were deposited inside of you. If you did go to school to
learn more about them, you probably excelled in them or you were
bored because it came so easily to you.
Realizing your gifts is like trying to see your right arm or your foot as
something unique when it is with you continuously, and you can do it
with little or no effort. Talking, shopping, understanding technology,
being skilled with math and numbers, drawing, being funny, discerning
spirits, writing, exercising, dancing, and being organized are just a few
examples of gifts. You are usually already spending time in the area of
your gifting.
Gifts are sometimes challenging to identify and distinguish because
they are such a part of you. Hidden in your gifts are the additional clues
you need to understand the methods God has given you to make a
difference in your area of purpose.
Yet gifts are only half of this component. The other half of this
component is your talent.

Your talent consists of those things you are naturally good at but need
to practice developing to perfect and make them great. Your talent
teaches you the skills necessary to walk in your gift. Together, your gifts
and talents create an additional dimension to understanding and
mastering your specific Extraordinary.
I am a good writer but in order to be great and reveal my passion and
purpose, I have to practice, read a lot, and write several drafts before I
can capture on paper what I am really trying to say (as well as, have the
help of a great editor). With my primary gift being speaking and not
writing, I have had to read countless books about writing and have
taken many classes to improve my skills. Yet, when I speak, I can
develop thoughts coherently in my mind instantaneously and deliver
them with clarity, depth, and power the first time with little or no effort.
Musicians who can play by ear have a gift. It comes easily and they
could effortlessly and passionately do it the rest of their lives. But in
order to be on the performance platforms of their heart’s desires, they
need to develop the talent or skill of reading and writing music so others
can learn their music, and it can be as extraordinary as it was designed
to be.
The challenge with talent is making sure you use it to further your vision
instead of getting stuck trying to make a living on your talent alone.
While you may be good at it, your talent alone does not feed your
passion and usually does not touch the depth of the desires of your
heart in a that will fulfill you for the rest of your life. I hear many stories
about people getting stuck making a living from their talent alone and
their story usually begins with something like this, “I am an accountant
and yes, it pays the bills, and I am good at it, but it is not what I really
want to do.”
You have probably heard stories of actors or singers who tried to live on
their talent alone and never connected with the other six components of
their extraordinary. They are the ones who were once a hit and now
appear on “Where Are They Now” television segments. Your talent is a
way for you to bring forth your purpose. You were not meant to get too
comfortable working only with your gifts and talents.

There is one more aspect of your Extraordinary to take into
consideration.
You were created to impact a particular group of people with specific
characteristics, mindsets, psychographics, and demographics. Part of
your Extraordinary is to identify, gather, inform, and take care of your
target market. I think of my target market as those I am assigned and
called to. I hold a special place in their lives and need to show up and
love on them on a regular basis.
You help them stay on track in the area in which you are called and
gifted. Your target market recognizes and responds to your voice,
gifting, and experiences. Your target market is waiting to hear your
voice, teachings, insights, and experience your products or services. If
you are not actively caring for and overseeing your target market, I
challenge you to step up in this area. No one can love on them like you
can.
Your target market consists of those you are called to lead and impact.
It is the particular target audience or group of people for whom you are
uniquely wired and designed. Another way to think about your area of
service is as your special niche. It is your responsibility to know your
target market and what you have to offer them that will be a solution to
their pain and problems.
Be specific. Are they special needs children from wealthy families?
Perhaps adults striving to create wealth? Or maybe people with a
passion for collecting and restoring Ford Mustangs? No matter who it is,
they are waiting for you.

Once you have thought deeply about your target market, make a list of
what your target market needs. Do they need a one-stop shop website
that gives them resources to carry out their missions? What topics do
they need to know more about? What questions do they ask on social
media? What information do they need to be successful? What
products would they purchase?

You need to get busy providing for your target market right now. Now is
your time. It is not about you. It is about what you’ve been through that
people need. They need to hear your challenges. They need to hear
your triumphs. It is time for you to urgently bring forth your Extraordinary
life and prosper from your good works. Can you feel it? Your target
market has been trying to get your attention. It’s time to respond bigger
and bolder than you ever have before.

Extraordinary, it is time to truly commit to it like never before. No holding
back. No watering it down. No playing small. No more waiting. It’s GO
time!
It is time to commit to moving closer and closer to completing your
Extraordinary each and everyday. It takes a serious, unwaivering,
tenacious, persistant commitment to see this through to transform your
potential into something extraordinary that impacts the world. It takes
time and overcoming to develop the capacity to access, understand,
and carry more of your Extraordinary. Remember, more and more of
your Extraordinary is revealed with each bold step forward you take.
Your Extraordinary unfolds over time. It would be too much for you to
receive all at once. It would be so big that you would not say yes and
fully commit to the process, and it is important to remember that it is a
process.
When you commit to bringing forth the fullness (not a watered-down
version) of your Extraordinary, you will receive everything intended for
you. You will receive all of the spiritual, emotional, and physical
blessings as well. When you first seek your Extraordinary, you enter
into a realm of multiplication. Everything you need to fulfill your
Extraordinary will come forth with ease and overflow…if you stay the
course.
Now it is time to put it into action. Here’s to living your Extraordinary!
