Mr. Siraj Hussain IAS

Mr Siraj Hussain joined the IAS in 1979. He served the Government of Uttar Pradesh and Government of India in various capacities.

In the Department of Food & Public Distribution, he formulated the scheme for attracting investments from private sector in warehousing, popularly known as Private Entrepreneurs Guarantee Scheme 2010. 13 million tonnes of storage capacity has been sanctioned under the scheme, out of which 7 million tonnes has been completed and taken over by FCI. The storage problem of FCI has accordingly been addressed to a large extent.

He was Additional Secretary & Special Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperation for about a year. He has also served for five years as the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard (University) in New Delhi, which specializes courses in Unani medicine, pharmacy, biological sciences and allied health sciences.

Presently, he is Secretary to Government of India, in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. ••

Dr. Ajit Kumar

After serving in the IAS, the premier service of the country for nearly 32 years Dr Ajit Kumar opted for VRS and demitted his office as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India. On 1st May, 2012 he took over the reins of National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management as its first Vice Chancellor.

He did his M.Sc.(Physics) and M.Sc. (Environmental Sciences) from Patna and Kakatiya University respectively. He did his Ph.D. from IIT Delhi.

Public Administration, Environmental Management, Rural Development & Social Welfare, Poverty Alleviation Programmes etc are some of his fields of expertise. His interest is to remain close to the Nature and rural India. Therefore, he established Save Earth Clubs in schools, colleges and residential colonies and with the help of this Club he implemented environment up-gradation projects and worked on solid waste management in urban areas through NGOs. He started publishing a bi-monthly magazine on environment called ‘’SAVE EARTH’. He has published a number of papers to his credit out of which important ones are Automobile Exhaust Emissions, Environment Illiteracy, Learning the Hard Way, Hand Over Most Valuable Resources, Can We Forget Trees, Curbing Air Pollution, City and its Problems and many more. ••

Shri. Ashok Mani is the CEO of Intergrow foods and Beverages P Ltd (Synthite Group Company). Previously he Lead - Strategic Growth Areas at Synthite Industries, Financial Analyst at Deloitte India and a Cost Analyst at Karlee.

He actively partakes in business ventures of friends by acting as an advisor on strategy and marketing

He holds Dual Degree in Finance and Economics from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas (USA). ••

Shri. Vinod Kumar P

Shri. Vinod Kumar. P is the Executive Director of Maithri, an NGO working with PRIs since 1998. He born and brought up in Pattanam, near North Paravur in Ernakulam district. Bought a farm – about 7.5 acres – in Muthalamada, Palakkad and moved to there in 1996. Also owns about 2.5 acres of Paddy land in Kannadi near Palakkad town. Cultivates paddy, mangoes and other fruit trees and coconut since 1996.

Initiated the Friends of Coconut Tree programme for Coconut Development Board in 2011. Instrumental in training about 5000 persons from Palakkad, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasargode districts. Piloted the formation of Coconut Producer Societies and Federations from September 2011 onwards. Instrumental in developing a training programme for the society and federation officials from May 2012 onwards.

He obtained B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Diploma in Business Finance, M.A in Sociology, M.A in Public Administration and Certificate in Risk Sensitive Land Use Planning. ••

Dr. Venu Vasudevan IAS

Dr Venu Vasudevan obtained MBBS Degree from Calicut Medical College in 1987. After two years of rural practice, he joined Government of India service in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1990. He is currently serving as the Director General of National Museum and Vice Chancellor of National Museum Institute, under the Ministry of Culture. Till recently, he was also Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. He is credited with revival of the National Museum, and for his contributions to the Museum sector in India.

He played a key role in designing and rolling out ‘Incredible India’ campaign. In Kerala, he designed and implemented the ‘Kerala model’ in destination promotion, with emphasis on partnership with small local enterprises. He conceptualized ‘Kerala Travel Mart’, which is today the biggest travel event in India. He created the Bekal Tourism project, which has resulted in the establishment of a new destination. He is credited with the initiation of the Responsible Tourism movement in Kerala, which has been recognized internationally.

He played a key role in organising the Kochi Biennale, an international art event. He opened a new museum ‘Keralam’ in Thiruvananthapuram. His efforts resulted in the establishment of the NORKA department, and served as its first officer. He is active in theatre, and performs with his group ‘Abhinaya’. ••

Shri. Jose Dominic

Shri. Jose Dominic is the Founder President of Kerala Travel Mart and founder member of the Eco Tourism Society of India. He was the past President of TiE – Kerala Chapter, was the President of the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and was the past Chairman of CII, Kerala region. Jose Dominic is presently the Joint Hony. Secretary, FHRAI, member of Kerala State Tourism Advisory Panel and member of National Tourism Advisory Council, Government of India. Jose Dominic heads CGH Earth, earlier known as the Casino Group of Hotels, a group that has adopted and strongly implemented core values of environment sensitivity, local community inclusion and adaption of the local cultural ethos. The pioneering effort of Jose Dominic and CGH Earth group has been largely instrumental in Kerala becoming known for Responsible Tourism. The group has also received the prestigious Green Globe Award from World Travel Mart and several awards from Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) for its achievements in environment conservation. In recognition of his efforts, Jose Dominic has been given a Special Commendation Award by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Management Leadership Award from the Kerala Management Association, Aatithya Rathna award form Hoteliers Investment Forum and a Commendation from Manappuram Finance for “Business Excellence Leading to Development of Society at Large”. Mr. Dominic is a Chartered Accountant by qualification. ••

Shri. Shankar Thiruvillakkat

Shri. Shankar Thiruvillakkat has over twenty five years of experience and has been serving as the CEO of Assyst International Pvt. Ltd. since its inception. His responsibilities include setting up short term/long-term goals for the global operations and working closely with the management team in the US to define and monitor growth and execution strategies.

Prior to coming on Assyst International Board, he founded Sprint Technologies, an IT training firm which grew from a single center to over 45 centers in South East Asia within a span of 6 years. As a member of the management team, he is actively involved in key alliances, capacity growth, process initiatives and business development and delivery.

Shankar is presently a Director at Banasura Hill Resort. Venturing into the hospitality sector was purely accidental since the original idea was to build a ‘Company Guesthouse’ as a means to provide a quiet weekend getaway for its associates and their families. But soon the concept turned out to becoming ‘Asia’s largest Earth resort’ as stated by various media. ••

Ms. Maneesha Panicker

Ms. Maneesha Panicker is the owner/Founder of Silk Route Escapes, an experiential travel company specializing in immersive travel through Kerala and India. It offers travel as a soul searching experience, helping global travelers discover, understand and connect deeply with authentic India, its people, and its cultures.

She is an expert at high-end experiential travel in Kerala. Designed and led immersive tours surrounding art, food, festivals, wellness and spirituality. Good understanding of global traveler’s needs. Maneesha has been featured in leading travel media like Discovery Channel’s TLC. She has travelled extensively within India.

Maneesha’s latest project is Kayal, an Island Retreat in the backwaters of Kerala. At Kakkathuruthu, the Island of Crows, she built Kayal, an intimate space where fisherfolk and farmers share their life with guests.

Ms. Maneesha obtained M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, USA and B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Management from Bangalore Institute of Technology.

She is keenly interested in art, architecture and design, and is passionate about travel, preserving local communities and traditions in India. ••

Prof. Anil K Gupta is currently Professor at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Visiting Professor of Innovation Management in Emerging Markets at European Business School, Frankfurt, Germany, Guest faculty at University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria and Honorary Professorship at Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, Tianjin, China.

He is the Coordinator of SRISTI, Founder of Honey Bee Network, Executive Vice Chair, National Innovation Foundation. Shri. Rahul Nayar

Shri. Rahul Nayar is currently a Chevening-Weidenfeld Scholar at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government. He was formerly on the core team at the Office of the Adviser to the Prime Minister and the National Innovation Council, Government of India; where he formulated and coordinated strategic initiatives on new media innovation for development, impact investment for innovative social enterprise, and community ICT ecosystems for rural governance and development. Prior to this, he worked in venture development and angel investment, and strategy consulting for the emerging technology sector.

Rahul holds an M. Phil in Technology Policy from the University of Cambridge, where he was a Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholar; and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Madras. ••

Shri. Alexie Levene

Mr. Alexei Levene, Managing Director Innovation eXperience, hails from London, UK and studied Philosophy (BA Hons) and Law (CPE). He has worked in supply chain technology, innovation strategy, clean tech development, design and more Alexei later set up an innovation strategy business based in Paris working with clients such as Shell and Philips. Shri. M.J. Cherian

Shri. M J Cherian is Co-Founder & CEO, Keynote ESOP. He set up the stock based compensation practice at Keynote and has been working in the stock-based compensation domain since 2005. During this period, he has had an opportunity to interact with and advise over two hundred companies in India on designing and implementing their employee stock option schemes. He also assists companies and institutional investors including private equity firms and venture capital firms in valuation businesses and various instruments representing ownership in them such as equity shares, preference shares. He has also acted as an independent advisor on several technical interpretation issues on company law and ESOP regulations.

His experience spans a variety of companies – start ups, mid-size, large industrial houses, listed, unlisted – and range of sectors – e-commerce, technology, banking, engineering & construction, financial services, IT &ITES, media, retail, manufacturing, aviation etc.

Shri. C. Balagopal

Mr. C Balagopal is Sr. Advisor, Business & Market Development, Terumo Penpol, India. He resigned from Civil Service in 1983 to promote a joint-venture company to make innovative bio-medical devices in India using indigenous technology. It was due to his pioneering efforts to acquire technology, conduct feasibility studies, market research, arrange finances and recruit the project team; the Blood Bag Factory was set up at Puliyarakonam, Trivandrum.

As the Managing Director of the Company from 1988 to 2013 March, Mr Balagopal played a key role of day to day management of the Company affairs, represents the industry in various forums, and attends customer meets in India and abroad to ascertain customer needs, new developments in technology, and also to voice his visionary ideas on the future of blood transfusion industry Has advised various agencies on aspects of setting up a modern Blood Service, and helped to draw up detailed plans for setting up a State Blood Transfusion Service for several State Governments. He is a prolific writer and has published various articles on Blood Transfusion business, and is also a staunch advocate for a National Blood Service.

Mr. Balagopal is also the author of the recent bestselling book about his experiences as a young civil servant in the North – East called “On a clear day, you can see India”. ••

Shri. Sam Santhosh

Sam Santhosh is the Promoter & CEO of SciGenom Inc. - a genomics R & D organization that conducts research work aimed at understanding the role of DNA sequence variation in human health and disease. He is also the Chairman & CEO of MedGenome Labs, a spin off from SciGenom that focuses on Genetic Diagnostics for the clinical market.

Sam was the CEO and Managing Director of California Software Limited (Calsoft) from 1992 –Feb 2012. He founded Calsoft in 1992 and under Sam’s vision Calsoft rapidly grew from a niche player in the Silicon Valley to a global player with over 1200 employees and presence in 8 countries. Sam took Calsoft Public and listed the company in the Indian Stock Exchanges. Dr. Maneesh Mailankot

Dr. Maneesh Mailankot is a scientist turned entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of Origin Labs, formerly known as Origin Diagnostics and Research. The Origin Labs was launched in May 2013 as a manufacturer of molecular biology reagents, which now expands to hospital software and diagnostics as well. Being both a scientist and entrepreneur at heart, he was able to continue his enterprise even to the production of OEM and soon was accepted by the markets of South East Asian countries, collaborating with AntoShine, a Singapore based company.

Dr Maneesh had his post graduate & doctoral studies in the Manipal group of institutions. Subsequently, he did his post-doctoral studies in immunology at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), OH, USA. He has more than 10 years of teaching and research expertise, and many research publications calibrated with high impact journals. Presently, Dr Maneesh is functioning as Associate Professor & Scientist, Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center, Tiruvalla. His laboratory at Pushpagiri, Molecular Medicine and Diagnostics Research (MMDR) Lab is funded by both central and state agencies. More notably, he also serves as a visiting consultant scientist to many foreign universities and industries. ••

Dr. Varun Nishanth MBBS, AFIH

Dr. Varun Nishanth has completed bachelors degree in medicine from AV medical college Pondicherry and fellowship in industrial health from Central labor institute Mumbai. Worked with International SOS in Tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh as an industrial health doctor in a diamond mine and as a rural area doctor. Came back to Kerala to initiate a health start up called “helloDOC” with a friend Dr. Jase John who was working in a one of a kind “ Boat dispensary “in Rural cochin . They realized the need to strengthen the areas of primary and preventive health care in Kerala , introduced on call doctor service, employee and school wellness programs in Cochin in July 2013.

They are about to start their first clinic on November 1st this year in a chain of “helloDOC” Clinics integrating Ayurveda, allopathic, doctor on call services, nutritionist, counseling services and employee /student wellness programs . They envisage their clinics as top notch, tech driven, ecofriendly and very affordable to common man. ••

Shri. Ajay Kumar IAS

Dr. Ajay Kumar IAS is currently Joint Secretary and Central Vigilance Officer, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. He is responsible for formulating the new National Policy on Electronics and revival of the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing Sector in the country. He has formulated and launched several new initiatives with long term far-reaching implications for promoting the electronics sector. These include: promoting investments in the sector through financial incentives of Modified SIPS, Electronics Manufacturing Clusters, Semiconductor Wafer Fabs; introducing industry led skill development initiatives by motivating the establishment of Electronics Sector Skill Council and the Telecom Sector Skill Council and providing financial support for these Councils; introducing a policy of standards for the Indian electronics sector, providing R&D and IP generation support to industry through Government funding and through venture funds.

Shri. M.N. Vidyashankar IAS

Shri. M. N. Vidyashankar IAS is currently working as President- India Electronics and Semiconductor Association.

He joined Indian Administrative Service in the year 1982 and served in different Departments in the State / Central Government. Apart from holding many other coveted positions, he was Principal Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka till 9th July, 2012 and as Additional Chief Secretary, Commerce & Industries Department.

Shri. Vidyashankar obtained M.A. Degree in Economics and M.Phil. from the Delhi School of Economics and PGDBM from Harvard University, USA. His major areas of interest are downsizing, right sizing, Re-engineering, E-Governance, and Customer Relations Management (CRM). ••

Shri. N. Jehangir is the Vice Chairman & Managing Director of NeST. He has rich experience in successfully setting up and establishing state of the art, hi-tech industry in India. With the experience gained from his traditional family business, Mr. Jehangir, had identified the need for diversifying into the fast growing technology based industry. He had rightly identified electronics as the ideal industry in India and set up his first electronics manufacturing unit in Cochin Export Processing Zone in the State of Kerala. Ms. Dhanya Johnson

Dhanya Johnson is an art promoter based out of Kochi, who for over a decade has been involved in facilitating and supporting various kinds of art events, residencies, and public art programs. She started the Springr Gallery and Art Café in 2012 and played an important role in revitalizing an old spice warehouse in Mattancherry into a vibrant art space. Johnson is currently running an art program in collaboration with Global Ocean to spread awareness about plastic pollution in the Indian Ocean. From 2004-2010, Johnson was running an eco-art residency and café in Lonavala near Mumbai that promoted emerging visual artists as well as independent musicians and documentary filmmakers.

Springr is an alternative art space in the historic town of Mattancherry in the southern Indian port city of Kochi. Located inside a heritage property on the Bazar Road, Springr Gallery offers a platform for local and international artists to create and showcase their works. For the past two years, Springr had hosted several artists and had organized a series of art residencies, exhibitions, public lectures, film screening, and musical nights. Springr works closely with the local communities to promote community engagement. ••

Shri. Amarendra Sinha IAS is currently Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India. He served the Government of Uttarakhand as Principal Secretary in charge of Urban Development, Planning and Programme Implementation, Information Technology, Education Department, etc.. Kum. Sreelakshmi Suresh

The Youngest Girl Web Designer and Youngest CEO in the World, designed and developed the official website of her school, Presentation Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode, Kerala, when she was only 8 years old. When she was 4 years old, she used to draw pictures using MS Paint program in Computer. She has received the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement in 2008, the highest award in India for Children instituted by Govt. of India. The Association of American Webmasters honoured her by giving their membership along with their highest award for excellence in web designing, the Gold Web Award. She is the only member of the Association of American Webmasters, ever, under the age of 18.
