When is Scout Sunday2019?

The BSA's Calendar ofReligious Dates lists Feb. 10,2019, as "Scout Sunday, interfaith." It lists Feb. 17, 2019, as "ScoutSunday, United Methodist."

But those are just guidelines. The BSA says a local churchmay celebrate "on the Sundaymost acceptable to the pastorand congregation." So checkwith your chartered organizationrepresentative or faith leader.

Depending on your faithorganization, Scout Sundaycould be held any Sunday inFebruary. It could be Feb. 3, Feb.10, Feb. 17 or even Feb. 24.

In the past, Scout Sunday wasalways held on the Sundaybefore the birthday of the BSA onFeb. 8. Realizing that eachchartered organization has aunique schedule of worship, theBSA no longer uses thatguideline.

The Midnight Sun Council, Boy Scouts of Americaannounces the conveyance of 233 acresof land from the estateof Jim Moody that are adjacent to Lost Lake Scout Camp aboutan hour south of Fairbanks.

We thank the Jim Moody Estate for its generous donation of theland and cabins that will allow for broader programs for ourScouts, their families, and community organizations that utilizethe camp for their programs.

Jim Moody, a lover of nature and the environment, wished thathis land be used for the enjoyment of nature, outdoor activities, and conservation. Plans for this new section of Lost Lake ScoutCamp include hiking trails, outpost camping, and possibly anoutdoor education center utilizing an existing cabin. To bestmeet the needs of our Scouts and the wishes of Jim Moody, ourProperties & Camping Committee will be working with the InteriorAlaska Land Trust to determine our best options going forward.
