Expeditionary Learning Updates

“CASE STUDY” In our EL Education school, one of our goals is to have class-rooms where students discover, question, think critically, solve problems, and collaborate. EL Education uses the word “case study” to refer to the academic focus of a specific topic. These case studies allow students to deeply explore science or social studies topics and become ex-perts. Students will be involved in multiple Case Studies each year, developed by teachers to address the state stand-ards. They are rich in literacy learning (reading, writing, speaking, listening, research) and vocabulary development. Whenever possible, they are also rich in numeracy and math-ematical concepts. Case studies are set in the local commu-nity, allowing opportunities for students to do meaningful fieldwork. Examples of Case Studies this year include: Communities, Monarch Butterflies, Schools: Then and Now, and Trees. Ask your child about the Case Study they are working on! For more information, please feel free to contact our EL In-structional Guide, Megan Coryell, at 574-822-5338.

2019-2020 YEARBOOKS

School. Please use a separate order form for each student.

All 3rd graders will receive a free yearbook from our PTO!

April 3RD—10Th

Getting new glasses? Don't know what to do with your old ones? We have a Lion's Club eyeglasses collection box in our office where you can drop off your old glasses. Mem-bers of the Lion's Club will gather them up, clean them and once a year they take a trip to Mexico to distribute them to people who may never have been able to see clearly! Feel free to bring them in or send them in with your child.

STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP GUIDELINES

Children need to remain in their car at morning drop off until you reach the adult supervising area.

Please do not drop your child off at the curb by the bus line up or in the parking lot.

If the sign is placed in the drive, this designates that the tardy bell has rung and you will need to drop your child off at the office and sign them in.

Please use the driveway loop when entering to keep the traffic flowing.

Thank you !

PTO SKATE NIGHT February 6th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Eby’s Pines Skating Rink. All skaters must have an adult with them at all times. We hope to see you there!

RAFFLE TICKETS We are nearing the time of our PTO Auction and are reminding students

that all tickets (sold and unsold) and money will need to be turned in ASAP.

*REMEMBER: TOP SELLERS EARN A PIZZA PARTY!!!
